Giona 2

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ma il Signore dispose che un grosso pesce inghiottisse Giona; Giona restò nel ventre del pesce tre giorni e tre notti.	1 Now Yahweh ordained that a great fish should swal ow Jonah; and Jonah remained in the bel y of thefish for three days and three nights.
2 Dal ventre del pesce Giona pregò il Signore, suo Dio,	2 From the bel y of the fish, Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God; he said:
3 e disse: «Nella mia angoscia ho invocato il Signore ed egli mi ha risposto; dal profondo degli inferi ho gridato e tu hai ascoltato la mia voce.	3 Out of my distress I cried to Yahweh and he answered me, from the bel y of Sheol I cried out; you heardmy voice!
4 Mi hai gettato nell’abisso, nel cuore del mare, e le correnti mi hanno circondato; tutti i tuoi flutti e le tue onde sopra di me sono passati.	4 For you threw me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the floods closed round me. Al yourwaves and bil ows passed over me;
5 Io dicevo: “Sono scacciato lontano dai tuoi occhi; eppure tornerò a guardare il tuo santo tempio”.	5 then I thought, 'I am banished from your sight; how shal I ever see your holy Temple again?'
6 Le acque mi hanno sommerso fino alla gola, l’abisso mi ha avvolto, l’alga si è avvinta al mio capo.	6 The waters round me rose to my neck, the deep was closing round me, seaweed twining round myhead.
7 Sono sceso alle radici dei monti, la terra ha chiuso le sue spranghe dietro a me per sempre. Ma tu hai fatto risalire dalla fossa la mia vita, Signore, mio Dio.	7 To the roots of the mountains, I sank into the underworld, and its bars closed round me for ever. But youraised my life from the Pit, Yahweh my God!
8 Quando in me sentivo venir meno la vita, ho ricordato il Signore. La mia preghiera è giunta fino a te, fino al tuo santo tempio.	8 When my soul was growing ever weaker, Yahweh, I remembered you, and my prayer reached you inyour holy Temple.
9 Quelli che servono idoli falsi abbandonano il loro amore.	9 Some abandon their faithful love by worshipping false gods,
10 Ma io con voce di lode offrirò a te un sacrificio e adempirò il voto che ho fatto; la salvezza viene dal Signore».	10 but I shal sacrifice to you with songs of praise. The vow I have made I shall fulfil! Salvation comesfrom Yahweh!
11 E il Signore parlò al pesce ed esso rigettò Giona sulla spiaggia.	11 Yahweh spoke to the fish, which then vomited Jonah onto the dry land.
