Amos 4

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ascoltate questa parola, o vacche di Basan, che siete sul monte di Samaria, che opprimete i deboli, schiacciate i poveri e dite ai vostri mariti: «Porta qua, beviamo!».	1 Listen to this saying, you cows of Bashan living on the hil of Samaria, exploiting the weak and il -treating the poor, saying to your husbands, 'Bring us something to drink!'
2 Il Signore Dio ha giurato per la sua santità: «Ecco, verranno per voi giorni in cui sarete portate via con uncini e le rimanenti di voi con arpioni da pesca.	2 The Lord God has sworn by his holiness: Look, the days wil soon be on you when he wil use hooks todrag you away and fish-hooks for the very last of you;
3 Uscirete per le brecce, una dopo l’altra, e sarete cacciate oltre l’Ermon». Oracolo del Signore.	3 through the breaches in the wal you wil leave, each one straight ahead, and be herded away towardsHermon -declares Yahweh.
4 «Andate pure a Betel e peccate, a Gàlgala e peccate ancora di più! Offrite ogni mattina i vostri sacrifici e ogni tre giorni le vostre decime.	4 Go to Bethel, and sin, to Gilgal, and sin even harder! Bring your sacrifices each morning, your tithesevery third day,
5 Offrite anche sacrifici di lode con pane lievitato e proclamate ad alta voce le offerte spontanee, perché così vi piace fare, o figli d’Israele». Oracolo del Signore Dio.	5 burn your thank-offering of leaven and widely publicise your free-wil offerings, for this, children ofIsrael, is what makes you happy -declares the Lord Yahweh.
6 «Eppure, vi ho lasciato a denti asciutti in tutte le vostre città, e con mancanza di pane in tutti i vostri villaggi; ma non siete ritornati a me». Oracolo del Signore.	6 I even gave you clean teeth in all your towns and a shortage of food in al your vil ages and stil youwould not come back to me -declares Yahweh.
7 «Vi ho pure rifiutato la pioggia tre mesi prima della mietitura, facevo piovere sopra una città e non sopra l’altra; un campo era bagnato di pioggia, mentre l’altro, su cui non pioveva, seccava.	7 I even withheld the rain from you ful three months before harvest-time; I caused rain to fall in one townand caused no rain to fal in another; one field was rained on and the next for want of rain dried up;
8 Due, tre città andavano barcollanti verso un’altra città per bervi acqua, senza potersi dissetare; ma non siete ritornati a me». Oracolo del Signore.	8 two towns, three towns went tottering to one town for water to drink but went unsatisfied, and stil youwould not come back to me -declares Yahweh.
9 «Vi ho colpiti con ruggine e carbonchio, vi ho inaridito i giardini e le vigne; i fichi e gli olivi li ha divorati la cavalletta; ma non siete ritornati a me». Oracolo del Signore.	9 I struck you with blight and mildew, I dried up your gardens and vineyards; the locust devoured your figtrees and olive trees and stil you would not come back to me -declares Yahweh.
10 «Ho mandato contro di voi la peste, come un tempo contro l’Egitto, ho ucciso di spada i vostri giovani, mentre i vostri cavalli diventavano preda; ho fatto salire il fetore dai vostri campi fino alle vostre narici; ma non siete ritornati a me». Oracolo del Signore.	10 I sent plague on you like Egypt's plague, I slaughtered your young men with the sword and at thesame time your horses were captured; I fil ed your nostrils with the stench of your camps and stil you would notcome back to me -declares Yahweh.
11 «Vi ho travolti come Dio aveva travolto Sòdoma e Gomorra, eravate come un tizzone strappato da un incendio; ma non siete ritornati a me». Oracolo del Signore.	11 I overturned you as God overturned Sodom and Gomorrah; you were like a brand snatched from theblaze and stil you would not come back to me -declares Yahweh.
12 Perciò ti tratterò così, Israele! Poiché questo devo fare di te: prepàrati all’incontro con il tuo Dio, o Israele!	12 So this, Israel, is what I plan to do to you. Because I am going to do this to you, Israel, prepare tomeet your God!
13 Ecco colui che forma i monti e crea i venti, che manifesta all’uomo qual è il suo pensiero, che muta l’aurora in tenebre e cammina sulle alture della terra, Signore, Dio degli eserciti è il suo nome.	13 For look, he it is who forges the mountains, creates the wind, who reveals his mind to humankind,changes the dawn into darkness and strides on the heights of the world: Yahweh, God Sabaoth, is his name.
