Amos 3

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ascoltate questa parola, che il Signore ha detto riguardo a voi, figli d’Israele, e riguardo a tutta la stirpe che ho fatto salire dall’Egitto:	1 Listen, Israelites, to this prophecy which Yahweh pronounces against you, against the whole familywhich I brought up from Egypt:
2 «Soltanto voi ho conosciuto tra tutte le stirpi della terra; perciò io vi farò scontare tutte le vostre colpe.	2 You alone have I intimately known of all the families of earth, that is why I shal punish you for al yourwrong-doings.
3 Camminano forse due uomini insieme, senza essersi messi d’accordo?	3 Do two people travel together unless they have agreed to do so?
4 Ruggisce forse il leone nella foresta, se non ha qualche preda? Il leoncello manda un grido dalla sua tana, se non ha preso nulla?	4 Does the lion roar in the forest if it has no prey? Does the young lion growl in his lair if it has caughtnothing?
5 Si precipita forse un uccello a terra in una trappola, senza che vi sia un’esca? Scatta forse la trappola dal suolo, se non ha preso qualche cosa?	5 Does a bird fall on the ground in a net unless a trap has been set for it? Will the net spring up from theground without catching something?
6 Risuona forse il corno nella città, senza che il popolo si metta in allarme? Avviene forse nella città una sventura, che non sia causata dal Signore?	6 Does the trumpet sound in the city without the people being alarmed? Does misfortune come to a city ifYahweh has not caused it?
7 In verità, il Signore non fa cosa alcuna senza aver rivelato il suo piano ai suoi servitori, i profeti.	7 No indeed, Lord Yahweh does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.
8 Ruggisce il leone: chi non tremerà? Il Signore Dio ha parlato: chi non profeterà?	8 The lion roars: who is not afraid? Lord Yahweh has spoken: who will not prophesy?
9 Fatelo udire nei palazzi di Asdod e nei palazzi della terra d’Egitto e dite: “Adunatevi sui monti di Samaria e osservate quanti disordini sono in essa e quali violenze sono nel suo seno”.	9 From the palace roofs of Assyria and from the palace roofs of Egypt, proclaim aloud, 'Assemble on thehil s of Samaria and observe the grave disorders inside her and the acts of oppression there!'
10 Non sanno agire con rettitudine – oracolo del Signore –; violenza e rapina accumulano nei loro palazzi».	10 Little they know of right conduct -declares Yahweh- who cram their palaces with violence andextortion.
11 Perciò così dice il Signore Dio: «Il nemico circonderà il paese, sarà abbattuta la tua potenza e i tuoi palazzi saranno saccheggiati».	11 This is why -- Lord Yahweh says this- an enemy will soon besiege the land, he wil bring down yourstrength and your palaces wil be looted.
12 Così dice il Signore: «Come il pastore strappa dalla bocca del leone due zampe o il lobo d’un orecchio, così scamperanno i figli d’Israele che siedono a Samaria nell’angolo di un letto, sulla sponda di un divano.	12 Yahweh says this: As the shepherd rescues two legs or the tip of an ear from the lion's mouth, so wilthe children of Israel be salvaged who now lol in Samaria in the corners of their beds, on their divans ofDamascus.
13 Ascoltate e attestatelo nella casa di Giacobbe, oracolo del Signore Dio, Dio degli eserciti:	13 Listen and testify against the House of Jacob -declares the Lord Yahweh, God Sabaoth-
14 Quando colpirò Israele per i suoi misfatti, colpirò gli altari di Betel; saranno spezzati i corni dell’altare e cadranno a terra.	14 the day when I punish Israel for his crimes I shal also punish the altars of Bethel; the horns of thealtar wil be hacked off and wil fal to the ground.
15 Demolirò la casa d’inverno insieme con la casa d’estate, e andranno in rovina le case d’avorio e scompariranno i grandi palazzi». Oracolo del Signore.	15 I shall blast winter house with summer house, ivory houses wil be destroyed and many mansionscease to be -declares Yahweh.
