BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Suonate il corno in Sion e date l’allarme sul mio santo monte! Tremino tutti gli abitanti della regione perché viene il giorno del Signore, perché è vicino,	1 Blow the ram's-horn in Zion, sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let everybody in the countrytremble, for the Day of Yahweh is coming, yes, it is near.
2 giorno di tenebra e di oscurità, giorno di nube e di caligine. Come l’aurora, un popolo grande e forte si spande sui monti: come questo non ce n’è stato mai e non ce ne sarà dopo, per gli anni futuri, di età in età.	2 Day of darkness and gloom, Day of cloud and blackness. Like the dawn, across the mountains spreadsa vast and mighty people, such as has never been before, such as wil never be again to the remotest ages.
3 Davanti a lui un fuoco divora e dietro a lui brucia una fiamma. Come il giardino dell’Eden è la terra davanti a lui e dietro a lui è un deserto desolato, niente si salva davanti a lui.	3 In their van a fire devours, in their rear a flame consumes. The country is like a garden of Eden ahead ofthem and a desert waste behind them. Nothing escapes them.
4 Il suo aspetto è quello di cavalli, anzi come destrieri che corrono;	4 They look like horses, like chargers they gal op on,
5 come fragore di carri che balzano sulla cima dei monti, come crepitìo di fiamma avvampante che brucia la stoppia, come un popolo forte schierato a battaglia.	5 with a racket like that of chariots they spring over the mountain tops, with a crackling like a blazing firedevouring the stubble, a mighty army in battle array.
6 Davanti a lui tremano i popoli, tutti i volti impallidiscono.	6 At the sight of them, people are appal ed and every face grows pale.
7 Corrono come prodi, come guerrieri che scalano le mura; ognuno procede per la propria strada, e non perde la sua direzione.	7 Like fighting men they press forward, like warriors they scale the wal s, each marching straight ahead,not turning from his path;
8 Nessuno intralcia l’altro, ognuno va per la propria via. Si gettano fra i dardi, ma non rompono le file.	8 they never jostle each other, each marches straight ahead: arrows fly, they stil press forward, neverbreaking ranks.
9 Piombano sulla città, si precipitano sulle mura, salgono sulle case, entrano dalle finestre come ladri.	9 They hurl themselves at the city, they leap onto the wal s, swarm up the houses, getting in through thewindows like thieves.
10 Davanti a lui la terra trema, il cielo si scuote, il sole, la luna si oscurano e le stelle cessano di brillare.	10 As they come on, the earth quakes, the skies tremble, sun and moon grow dark, the stars lose theirbrilliance.
11 Il Signore fa udire la sua voce dinanzi alla sua schiera: molto grande è il suo esercito, potente nell’eseguire i suoi ordini! Grande è il giorno del Signore, davvero terribile: chi potrà sostenerlo?	11 Yahweh's voice rings out at the head of his troops! For mighty indeed is his army, strong, the enforcerof his orders, for great is the Day of Yahweh, and very terrible -- who can face it?
12 «Or dunque – oracolo del Signore –, ritornate a me con tutto il cuore, con digiuni, con pianti e lamenti.	12 'But now -- declares Yahweh- come back to me with al your heart, fasting, weeping, mourning.'
13 Laceratevi il cuore e non le vesti, ritornate al Signore, vostro Dio, perché egli è misericordioso e pietoso, lento all’ira, di grande amore, pronto a ravvedersi riguardo al male».	13 Tear your hearts and not your clothes, and come back to Yahweh your God, for he is gracious andcompassionate, slow to anger, rich in faithful love, and he relents about inflicting disaster.
14 Chi sa che non cambi e si ravveda e lasci dietro a sé una benedizione? Offerta e libagione per il Signore, vostro Dio.	14 Who knows if he wil not come back, relent and leave a blessing behind him, a cereal offering and alibation to be presented to Yahweh your God?
15 Suonate il corno in Sion, proclamate un solenne digiuno, convocate una riunione sacra.	15 Blow the ram's-horn in Zion! Order a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly,
16 Radunate il popolo, indite un’assemblea solenne, chiamate i vecchi, riunite i fanciulli, i bambini lattanti; esca lo sposo dalla sua camera e la sposa dal suo talamo.	16 cal the people together, summon the community, assemble the elders, gather the children, eveninfants at the breast! Call the bridegroom from his bedroom and the bride from her bower!
17 Tra il vestibolo e l’altare piangano i sacerdoti, ministri del Signore, e dicano: «Perdona, Signore, al tuo popolo e non esporre la tua eredità al ludibrio e alla derisione delle genti». Perché si dovrebbe dire fra i popoli: «Dov’è il loro Dio?».	17 Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, stand weeping between portico and altar, saying, 'Spare yourpeople, Yahweh! Do not expose your heritage to the contempt, to the sarcasm of the nations! Why give thepeoples cause to say, "Where is their God?" '
18 Il Signore si mostra geloso per la sua terra e si muove a compassione del suo popolo.	18 Then, becoming jealous over his country, Yahweh took pity on his people.
19 Il Signore ha risposto al suo popolo: «Ecco, io vi mando il grano, il vino nuovo e l’olio e ne avrete a sazietà; non farò più di voi il ludibrio delle genti.	19 Yahweh said in answer to his people, 'Now I shal send you wheat, wine and olive oil until you haveenough. Never again wil I expose you to the contempt of the nations.
20 Allontanerò da voi quello che viene dal settentrione e lo spingerò verso una terra arida e desolata: spingerò la sua avanguardia verso il mare orientale e la sua retroguardia verso il mare occidentale. Esalerà il suo lezzo, salirà il suo fetore, perché ha fatto cose grandi.	20 I shal take the northerner far away from you and drive him into an arid, desolate land, his vanguard tothe eastern sea, his rearguard to the western sea. He wil give off a stench, he wil give off a foul stink (for whathe made bold to do).'
21 Non temere, terra, ma rallégrati e gioisci, poiché cose grandi ha fatto il Signore.	21 Land, do not be afraid; be glad, rejoice, for Yahweh has done great things.
22 Non temete, animali selvatici, perché i pascoli della steppa hanno germogliato, perché gli alberi producono i frutti, la vite e il fico danno le loro ricchezze.	22 Wild animals, do not be afraid; the desert pastures are green again, the trees bear fruit, vine and figtree yield their richness.
23 Voi, figli di Sion, rallegratevi, gioite nel Signore, vostro Dio, perché vi dà la pioggia in giusta misura, per voi fa scendere l’acqua, la pioggia d’autunno e di primavera, come in passato.	23 Sons of Zion, be glad, rejoice in Yahweh your God; for he has given you autumn rain as justicedemands, and he wil send the rains down for you, the autumn and spring rain as of old.
24 Le aie si riempiranno di grano e i tini traboccheranno di vino nuovo e di olio.	24 The threshing-floors wil be ful of grain, the vats overflow with wine and oil.
25 Vi compenserò delle annate divorate dalla locusta e dal bruco, dal grillo e dalla cavalletta, da quel grande esercito che ho mandato contro di voi.	25 'I will make up to you for the years devoured by grown locust and hopper, by shearer and younglocust, my great army which I sent to invade you.
26 Mangerete in abbondanza, a sazietà, e loderete il nome del Signore, vostro Dio, che in mezzo a voi ha fatto meraviglie: mai più vergogna per il mio popolo.	26 'You will eat to your heart's content, and praise the name of Yahweh your God who has treated you sowonderful y. (My people will never be humiliated again!)
27 Allora voi riconoscerete che io sono in mezzo a Israele, e che io sono il Signore, vostro Dio, e non ce ne sono altri: mai più vergogna per il mio popolo».	27 'And you will know that I am among you in Israel, I, Yahweh your God, and no one else. My people willnever be humiliated again!'
