BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Di’ ad Aronne: “Stendi la mano con il tuo bastone sui fiumi, sui canali e sugli stagni e fa’ uscire le rane sulla terra d’Egitto!”».	1 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Say to Aaron, "Stretch out your hand with your staff, over the rivers, thecanals and the marshland, and bring the frogs up over the land of Egypt." '
2 Aronne stese la mano sulle acque d’Egitto e le rane uscirono e coprirono la terra d’Egitto.	2 So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the landof Egypt.
3 Ma i maghi, con i loro sortilegi, operarono la stessa cosa e fecero uscire le rane sulla terra d’Egitto.	3 But by their spel s the magicians did the same, bringing frogs over the land of Egypt.
4 Il faraone fece chiamare Mosè e Aronne e disse: «Pregate il Signore che allontani le rane da me e dal mio popolo; io lascerò partire il popolo, perché possa sacrificare al Signore!».	4 Pharaoh then summoned Moses and Aaron and said, 'Entreat Yahweh to take the frogs away from meand my subjects, and I promise to let the people go and sacrifice to Yahweh.'
5 Mosè disse al faraone: «Fammi l’onore di dirmi per quando io devo pregare in favore tuo e dei tuoi ministri e del tuo popolo, per liberare dalle rane te e le tue case, in modo che ne rimangano soltanto nel Nilo».	5 Moses said to Pharaoh, 'You are the one to gain by it: when would you like me to pray for you, yourofficials and your subjects, so as to rid you and your houses of the frogs so that they wil be left only in theRiver?'
6 Rispose: «Per domani». Riprese: «Sia secondo la tua parola! Perché tu sappia che non esiste nessuno pari al Signore, nostro Dio,	6 'Tomorrow,' he said. Moses said, 'It shal be as you say, so that you wil know that there is no one likeYahweh our God.
7 le rane si ritireranno da te e dalle tue case, dai tuoi ministri e dal tuo popolo: ne rimarranno soltanto nel Nilo».	7 The frogs wil leave you, your houses, your officials and your subjects and wil be left only in the River.'
8 Mosè e Aronne si allontanarono dal faraone e Mosè supplicò il Signore riguardo alle rane, che aveva mandato contro il faraone.	8 Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh's presence, and Moses pleaded with Yahweh about the frogs which hehad inflicted on Pharaoh.
9 Il Signore operò secondo la parola di Mosè e le rane morirono nelle case, nei cortili e nei campi.	9 Yahweh did as Moses asked, and in house and courtyard and field the frogs died.
10 Le raccolsero in tanti mucchi e la terra ne fu ammorbata.	10 They piled them up in heaps and the country stank.
11 Ma il faraone vide che c’era un po’ di sollievo, si ostinò e non diede loro ascolto, secondo quanto aveva detto il Signore.	11 But once Pharaoh saw that there had been a respite, he became obstinate and, as Yahweh hadforetold, refused to listen to them.
12 Quindi il Signore disse a Mosè: «Di’ ad Aronne: “Stendi il tuo bastone, percuoti la polvere del suolo: essa si muterà in zanzare in tutta la terra d’Egitto!”».	12 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Say to Aaron, "Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the earth, andit wil turn into mosquitoes throughout the whole of Egypt." '
13 Così fecero: Aronne stese la mano con il suo bastone, colpì la polvere del suolo e ci furono zanzare sugli uomini e sulle bestie; tutta la polvere del suolo si era mutata in zanzare in tutta la terra d’Egitto.	13 Aaron stretched out his hand, with his staff, and struck the dust of the earth, and there weremosquitoes on man and beast; al the dust of the earth turned into mosquitoes throughout the whole of Egypt.
14 I maghi cercarono di fare la stessa cosa con i loro sortilegi, per far uscire le zanzare, ma non riuscirono, e c’erano zanzare sugli uomini e sulle bestie.	14 By their spel s the magicians tried to produce mosquitoes in the same way but failed, and there weremosquitoes on man and beast.
15 Allora i maghi dissero al faraone: «È il dito di Dio!». Ma il cuore del faraone si ostinò e non diede ascolto, secondo quanto aveva detto il Signore.	15 So the magicians said to Pharaoh, 'This is the finger of God.' But Pharaoh was obstinate and, asYahweh had foretold, refused to listen to them.
16 Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Àlzati di buon mattino e presèntati al faraone quando andrà alle acque. Gli dirai: “Così dice il Signore: Lascia partire il mio popolo, perché mi possa servire!	16 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh as he makes his wayto the water. Say to him, "Yahweh says this: Let my people go and worship me.
17 Se tu non lasci partire il mio popolo, ecco, manderò su di te, sui tuoi ministri, sul tuo popolo e sulle tue case sciami di tafani: le case degli Egiziani saranno piene di tafani e anche il suolo sul quale essi si trovano.	17 But if you wil not let my people go, I shal send horseflies on you, on your officials, your subjects andyour houses. The Egyptians' houses wil swarm with horseflies, and so wil the very ground they stand on.
18 Ma in quel giorno io risparmierò la regione di Gosen, dove dimora il mio popolo: là non vi saranno tafani, perché tu sappia che io sono il Signore in mezzo al paese!	18 But I shal exempt the region of Goshen, where my people are living, that day; there will be nohorseflies there, so that you will know that I am Yahweh, here in this country.
19 Così farò distinzione tra il mio popolo e il tuo popolo. Domani avverrà questo segno”».	19 I shal make a distinction between my people and your people. This sign wil take place tomorrow." '
20 Così fece il Signore: sciami imponenti di tafani entrarono nella casa del faraone, nella casa dei suoi ministri e in tutta la terra d’Egitto; la terra era devastata a causa dei tafani.	20 Yahweh did this, and great swarms of horseflies found their way into Pharaoh's palace, into hisofficials' houses and al over Egypt; the country was ruined by the horseflies.
21 Il faraone fece chiamare Mosè e Aronne e disse: «Andate a sacrificare al vostro Dio, ma nel paese!».	21 Pharaoh then summoned Moses and Aaron and said, 'Go and sacrifice to your God, inside thecountry.'
22 Mosè rispose: «Non è opportuno far così, perché quello che noi sacrifichiamo al Signore, nostro Dio, è abominio per gli Egiziani. Se noi facessimo, sotto i loro occhi, un sacrificio abominevole per gli Egiziani, forse non ci lapiderebbero?	22 'That would never do,' Moses said, 'since what we sacrifice to Yahweh our God is outrageous to theEgyptians. If the Egyptians see us offering sacrifices which outrage them, won't they stone us?
23 Andremo nel deserto, a tre giorni di cammino, e sacrificheremo al Signore, nostro Dio, secondo quanto egli ci ordinerà!».	23 We shal make a three-days' journey into the desert to sacrifice to Yahweh our God, as he has orderedus.'
24 Allora il faraone replicò: «Vi lascerò partire e potrete sacrificare al Signore nel deserto. Ma non andate troppo lontano e pregate per me».	24 Pharaoh said, 'I wil let you go and sacrifice to Yahweh your God in the desert, provided you do not govery far. Pray for me.'
25 Rispose Mosè: «Ecco, mi allontanerò da te e pregherò il Signore; domani i tafani si ritireranno dal faraone, dai suoi ministri e dal suo popolo. Però il faraone cessi di burlarsi di noi, impedendo al popolo di partire perché possa sacrificare al Signore!».	25 'The moment I leave you,' Moses said, 'I shal pray to Yahweh. Tomorrow morning the horseflies willeave Pharaoh, his officials and his subjects. But Pharaoh must stop trifling with us by not al owing the people togo and sacrifice to Yahweh.'
26 Mosè si allontanò dal faraone e pregò il Signore.	26 Moses then left Pharaoh's presence and prayed to Yahweh,
27 Il Signore agì secondo la parola di Mosè e allontanò i tafani dal faraone, dai suoi ministri e dal suo popolo: non ne restò neppure uno.	27 and Yahweh did as Moses asked; the horseflies left Pharaoh, his officials and his subjects; not oneremained.
28 Ma il faraone si ostinò anche questa volta e non lasciò partire il popolo.	28 But Pharaoh became obstinate this time too and did not let the people go.
