Isaia 26

BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 In quel giorno si canterà questo canto nel paese di Giuda: Abbiamo una città forte; egli ha eretto a nostra salvezza mura e baluardo.	1 That day, this song wil be sung in Judah: 'We have a fortress city, the wal s and ramparts providesafety.
2 Aprite le porte: entri il popolo giusto che mantiene la fedeltà.	2 Open the gates! Let the upright nation come in, the nation that keeps faith!
3 Il suo animo è saldo; tu gli assicurerai la pace, pace perché in te ha fiducia.	3 This is the plan decreed: you wil guarantee peace, the peace entrusted to you.
4 Confidate nel Signore sempre, perché il Signore è una roccia eterna;	4 Trust in Yahweh for ever, for Yahweh is a rock for ever.
5 perché egli ha abbattuto coloro che abitavano in alto; la città eccelsa l'ha rovesciata, rovesciata fino a terra, l'ha rasa al suolo.	5 He has brought low the dwel ers on the heights, the lofty citadel; he lays it low, brings it to the ground,flings it down in the dust.
6 I piedi la calpestano, i piedi degli oppressi, i passi dei poveri.	6 It wil be trodden under foot, by the feet of the needy, the steps of the weak.'
7 Il sentiero del giusto è diritto, il cammino del giusto tu rendi piano.	7 The path of the Upright One is honesty; you smooth the honest way of the upright.
8 Sì, nella via dei tuoi giudizi, Signore, noi speriamo in te; al tuo nome e al tuo ricordo si volge tutto il nostro desiderio.	8 Fol owing the path of your judgements, Yahweh, we set our hopes in you, your name, your memory areal our soul desires.
9 La mia anima anela a te di notte, al mattino il mio spirito ti cerca, perché quando pronunzi i tuoi giudizi sulla terra, giustizia imparano gli abitanti del mondo.	9 At night my soul longs for you and my spirit within me seeks you out; for when your judgements appearon earth the inhabitants of the world learn what saving justice is.
10 Si usi pure clemenza all'empio, non imparerà la giustizia; sulla terra egli distorce le cose diritte e non guarda alla maestà del Signore.	10 If pity is shown to the wicked without his learning what saving justice is, he wil act wrongly in the landof right conduct and not see the majesty of Yahweh.
11 Signore, sta alzata la tua mano, ma essi non la vedono. Vedano, arrossendo, il tuo amore geloso per il popolo; anzi, il fuoco preparato per i tuoi nemici li divori.	11 Yahweh, your hand is raised but they do not see! The antagonists of your people will look and growpale; with your fiery wrath you wil devour your enemies.
12 Signore, ci concederai la pace, poiché tu dài successo a tutte le nostre imprese.	12 Yahweh, you wil grant us peace, having completed al our undertakings for us.
13 Signore nostro Dio, altri padroni, diversi da te, ci hanno dominato, ma noi te soltanto, il tuo nome invocheremo.	13 Yahweh our God, other lords than you have ruled us but, loyal to you alone, we invoke your name.
14 I morti non vivranno più, le ombre non risorgeranno; poiché tu li hai puniti e distrutti, hai fatto svanire ogni loro ricordo.	14 The dead wil not come back to life, the shadows wil not rise again, for you have punished them,annihilated them, wiping out their very memory.
15 Hai fatto crescere la nazione, Signore, hai fatto crescere la nazione, ti sei glorificato, hai dilatato tutti i confini del paese.	15 You have made the nation larger, Yahweh, made the nation larger and won yourself glory, you haverol ed back the frontiers of the country.
16 Signore, nella tribolazione ti abbiamo cercato;a te abbiamo gridato nella prova, che è la tua correzione.	16 Yahweh, in distress they had recourse to you, they expended themselves in prayer, since yourpunishment was on them.
17 Come una donna incinta che sta per partorire si contorce e grida nei dolori, così siamo stati noi di fronte a te, Signore.	17 As a pregnant woman near her time of delivery writhes and cries out in her pangs, so have we been,Yahweh, in your eyes:
18 Abbiamo concepito, abbiamo sentito i dolori quasi dovessimo partorire: era solo vento; non abbiamo portato salvezza al paese e non sono nati abitanti nel mondo.	18 we have been pregnant, we have writhed, but we have given birth only to wind: we have not givensalvation to the earth, no inhabitants for the world have been brought to birth.
19 Ma di nuovo vivranno i tuoi morti, risorgeranno i loro cadaveri. Si sveglieranno ed esulteranno quelli che giacciono nella polvere, perché la tua rugiada è rugiada luminosa, la terra darà alla luce le ombre.	19 Your dead will come back to life, your corpses wil rise again. Wake up and sing, you dwel ers in thedust, for your dew wil be a radiant dew, but the earth will give birth to the shades.
20 Va', popolo mio, entra nelle tue stanze e chiudi la porta dietro di te. Nasconditi per un momento finché non sia passato lo sdegno.	20 Go, my people, go to your private room, shut yourselves in. Hide yourselves a little while until theretribution has passed.
21 Perché ecco, il Signore esce dalla sua dimora per punire le offese fatte a lui dagli abitanti della terra; la terra ributterà fuori il sangue assorbito e più non coprirà i suoi cadaveri.	21 For see, Yahweh emerges from his dwel ing to punish the inhabitants of earth for their guilt; and theearth will reveal the blood shed on it and no longer hide its slain.
