1 L'uomo che, rimproverato, resta di dura cervice sarà spezzato all'improvviso e senza rimedio.	1 He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck will suddenly be broken beyond healing.
2 Quando comandano i giusti, il popolo gioisce, quando governano gli empi, il popolo geme.	2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
3 Chi ama la sapienza allieta il padre, ma chi frequenta prostitute dissipa il patrimonio.	3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but one who keeps company with harlots squanders his substance.
4 Il re con la giustizia rende prospero il paese, l'uomo che fa esazioni eccessive lo rovina.	4 By justice a king gives stability to the land, but one who exacts gifts ruins it.
5 L'uomo che adula il suo prossimo gli tende una rete per i suoi passi.	5 A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.
6 Sotto i passi del malvagio c'è un trabocchetto, mentre il giusto corre ed è contento.	6 An evil man is ensnared in his transgression, but a righteous man sings and rejoices.
7 Il giusto si prende a cuore la causa dei miseri, ma l'empio non intende ragione.	7 A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.
8 I beffardi mettono sottosopra una città, mentre i saggi placano la collera.	8 Scoffers set a city aflame, but wise men turn away wrath.
9 Se un saggio discute con uno stolto, si agiti o rida, non vi sarà conclusione.	9 If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.
10 Gli uomini sanguinari odiano l'onesto, mentre i giusti hanno cura di lui.	10 Bloodthirsty men hate one who is blameless, and the wicked seek his life.
11 Lo stolto dà sfogo a tutto il suo malanimo, il saggio alla fine lo sa calmare.	11 A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man quietly holds it back.
12 Se un principe dà ascolto alle menzogne, tutti i suoi ministri sono malvagi.	12 If a ruler listens to falsehood, all his officials will be wicked.
13 Il povero e l'usuraio si incontrano; è il Signore che illumina gli occhi di tutti e due.	13 The poor man and the oppressor meet together; the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.
14 Un re che giudichi i poveri con equità rende saldo il suo trono per sempre.	14 If a king judges the poor with equity his throne will be established for ever.
15 La verga e la correzione danno sapienza, ma il giovane lasciato a se stesso disonora sua madre.	15 The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.
16 Quando governano i malvagi, i delitti abbondano, ma i giusti ne vedranno la rovina.	16 When the wicked are in authority, transgression increases; but the righteous will look upon their downfall.
17 Correggi il figlio e ti farà contento e ti procurerà consolazioni.	17 Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; he will give delight to your heart.
18 Senza la rivelazione il popolo diventa sfrenato; beato chi osserva la legge.	18 Where there is no prophecy the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.
19 Lo schiavo non si corregge a parole, comprende, infatti, ma non obbedisce.	19 By mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not give heed.
20 Hai visto un uomo precipitoso nel parlare? C'è più da sperare in uno stolto che in lui.	20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
21 Chi accarezza lo schiavo fin dall'infanzia, alla fine costui diventerà insolente.	21 He who pampers his servant from childhood, will in the end find him his heir.
22 Un uomo collerico suscita litigi e l'iracondo commette molte colpe.	22 A man of wrath stirs up strife, and a man given to anger causes much transgression.
23 L'orgoglio dell'uomo ne provoca l'umiliazione, l'umile di cuore ottiene onori.	23 A man's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.
24 Chi è complice del ladro, odia se stesso, egli sente l'imprecazione, ma non denuncia nulla.	24 The partner of a thief hates his own life; he hears the curse, but discloses nothing.
25 Il temere gli uomini pone in una trappola; ma chi confida nel Signore è al sicuro.	25 The fear of man lays a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD is safe.
26 Molti ricercano il favore del principe, ma è il Signore che giudica ognuno.	26 Many seek the favor of a ruler, but from the LORD a man gets justice.
27 L'iniquo è un abominio per i giusti e gli uomini retti sono in abominio ai malvagi.	27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, but he whose way is straight is an abomination to the wicked.
