Proverbi 11

BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 La bilancia falsa è in abominio al Signore, ma del peso esatto egli si compiace.	1 A false balance is abhorrent to Yahweh, a just weight is pleasing to him.
2 Viene la superbia, verrà anche l'obbrobrio, mentre la saggezza è presso gli umili.	2 Pride comes first; disgrace soon fol ows; with the humble is wisdom found.
3 L'integrità degli uomini retti li guida, la perversità dei perfidi li rovina.	3 The honest have their own honesty for guidance, the treacherous are ruined by their own perfidy.
4 Non serve la ricchezza nel giorno della collera, ma la giustizia libera dalla morte.	4 In the day of retribution riches wil be useless, but uprightness delivers from death.
5 La giustizia dell'uomo onesto gli spiana la via; per la sua empietà cade l'empio.	5 The uprightness of the good makes their way straight, the wicked fal by their own wickedness.
6 La giustizia degli uomini retti li salva, nella cupidigia restano presi i perfidi.	6 Their uprightness sets the honest free, the treacherous are imprisoned by their own desires.
7 Con la morte dell'empio svanisce ogni sua speranza, la fiducia dei malvagi scompare.	7 The hope of the wicked perishes with death, hope placed in riches comes to nothing.
8 Il giusto sfugge all'angoscia, al suo posto subentra l'empio.	8 The upright escapes affliction, the wicked incurs it instead.
9 Con la bocca l'empio rovina il suo prossimo, ma i giusti si salvano con la scienza.	9 Through his mouth the godless is the ruin of his neighbour, but by knowledge the upright aresafeguarded.
10 Della prosperità dei giusti la città si rallegra, per la scomparsa degli empi si fa festa.	10 When the upright prosper the city rejoices, when the wicked are ruined there is a shout of joy.
11 Con la benedizione degli uomini retti si innalza una città, la bocca degli empi la demolisce.	11 A city is raised on the blessing of the honest, and demolished by the mouth of the wicked.
12 Chi disprezza il suo prossimo è privo di senno, l'uomo prudente invece tace.	12 Whoever looks down on a neighbour lacks good sense; the intelligent keeps a check on the tongue.
13 Chi va in giro sparlando svela il segreto, lo spirito fidato nasconde ogni cosa.	13 A tittle-tattler lets secrets out, the trustworthy keeps things hidden.
14 Senza una direzione un popolo decade, il successo sta nel buon numero di consiglieri.	14 For want of leadership a people perishes, safety lies in many advisers.
15 Chi garantisce per un estraneo si troverà male, chi avversa le strette di mano a garanzia, vive tranquillo.	15 Whoever goes bail for a stranger does himself harm, but one who shuns going surety is safe.
16 Una donna graziosa ottiene gloria, ma gli uomini laboriosi acquistano ricchezza.	16 A gracious woman acquires honour, violent people acquire wealth.
17 Benefica se stesso l'uomo misericordioso, il crudele invece tormenta la sua stessa carne.	17 Faithful love brings its own reward, the inflexible injure their own selves.
18 L'empio realizza profitti fallaci, ma per chi semina la giustizia il salario è sicuro.	18 Disappointment crowns the labours of the wicked, whoever sows uprightness reaps a solid reward.
19 Chi pratica la giustizia si procura la vita, chi segue il male va verso la morte.	19 Whoever establishes uprightness is on the way to life, whoever pursues evil, on the way to death.
20 I cuori depravati sono in abominio al Signore che si compiace di chi ha una condotta integra.	20 Tortuous hearts are abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him, those whose ways are blameless.
21 Certo non resterà impunito il malvagio, ma la discendenza dei giusti si salverà.	21 Be sure of it, the wicked wil not go unpunished, but the race of the upright wil come to no harm.
22 Un anello d'oro al naso d'un porco, tale è la donna bella ma priva di senno.	22 A golden ring in the snout of a pig is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.
23 La brama dei giusti è solo il bene, la speranza degli empi svanisce.	23 The hope of the upright is nothing but good, the expectation of the wicked is retribution.
24 C'è chi largheggia e la sua ricchezza aumenta, c'è chi risparmia oltre misura e finisce nella miseria.	24 One scatters money around, yet only adds to his wealth, another is excessively mean, but only growsthe poorer.
25 La persona benefica avrà successo e chi disseta sarà dissetato.	25 The soul who blesses wil prosper, whoever satisfies others wil also be satisfied.
26 Chi accaparra il grano è maledetto dal popolo, la benedizione è invocata sul capo di chi lo vende.	26 The people's curse is on those who hoard the wheat, their blessing on the head of those who sel it.
27 Chi è sollecito del bene trova il favore, chi ricerca il male, male avrà.	27 Whoever strives for good obtains favour, whoever looks for evil wil get an evil return.
28 Chi confida nella propria ricchezza cadrà; i giusti invece verdeggeranno come foglie.	28 Whoever trusts in riches wil have a fal , the upright wil flourish like the leaves.
29 Chi crea disordine in casa erediterà vento e lo stolto sarà schiavo dell'uomo saggio.	29 Whoever misgoverns a house inherits the wind, and the fool becomes slave to the wise.
30 Il frutto del giusto è un albero di vita, il saggio conquista gli animi.	30 The fruit of the upright is a tree of life: the sage captivates souls.
31 Ecco, il giusto è ripagato sulla terra, tanto più lo saranno l'empio e il peccatore.	31 If here on earth the upright gets due reward, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
