1 La bilancia falsa è in abominio al Signore, ma del peso esatto egli si compiace.	1 False scales are an abomination to the LORD, but a full weight is his delight.
2 Viene la superbia, verrà anche l'obbrobrio, mentre la saggezza è presso gli umili.	2 When pride comes, disgrace comes; but with the humble is wisdom.
3 L'integrità degli uomini retti li guida, la perversità dei perfidi li rovina.	3 The honesty of the upright guides them; the faithless are ruined by their duplicity.
4 Non serve la ricchezza nel giorno della collera, ma la giustizia libera dalla morte.	4 Wealth is useless on the day of wrath, but virtue saves from death.
5 La giustizia dell'uomo onesto gli spiana la via; per la sua empietà cade l'empio.	5 The honest man's virtue makes his way straight, but by his wickedness the wicked man falls.
6 La giustizia degli uomini retti li salva, nella cupidigia restano presi i perfidi.	6 The virtue of the upright saves them, but the faithless are caught in their own intrigue.
7 Con la morte dell'empio svanisce ogni sua speranza, la fiducia dei malvagi scompare.	7 When a wicked man dies his hope perishes, and what is expected from strength comes to nought.
8 Il giusto sfugge all'angoscia, al suo posto subentra l'empio.	8 The just man escapes trouble, and the wicked man falls into it in his stead.
9 Con la bocca l'empio rovina il suo prossimo, ma i giusti si salvano con la scienza.	9 With his mouth the impious man would ruin his neighbor, but through their knowledge the just make their escape.
10 Della prosperità dei giusti la città si rallegra, per la scomparsa degli empi si fa festa.	10 When the just prosper, the city rejoices; and when the wicked perish, there is jubilation.
11 Con la benedizione degli uomini retti si innalza una città, la bocca degli empi la demolisce.	11 Through the blessing of the righteous the city is exalted, but through the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown.
12 Chi disprezza il suo prossimo è privo di senno, l'uomo prudente invece tace.	12 He who reviles his neighbor has no sense, but the intelligent man keeps silent.
13 Chi va in giro sparlando svela il segreto, lo spirito fidato nasconde ogni cosa.	13 A newsmonger reveals secrets, but a trustworthy man keeps a confidence.
14 Senza una direzione un popolo decade, il successo sta nel buon numero di consiglieri.	14 For lack of guidance a people falls; security lies in many counselors.
15 Chi garantisce per un estraneo si troverà male, chi avversa le strette di mano a garanzia, vive tranquillo.	15 He is in a bad way who becomes surety for another, but he who hates giving pledges is safe.
16 Una donna graziosa ottiene gloria, ma gli uomini laboriosi acquistano ricchezza.	16 A gracious woman wins esteem, but she who hates virtue is covered with shame. (The slothful become impoverished, but the diligent gain wealth.)
17 Benefica se stesso l'uomo misericordioso, il crudele invece tormenta la sua stessa carne.	17 A kindly man benefits himself, but a merciless man harms himself.
18 L'empio realizza profitti fallaci, ma per chi semina la giustizia il salario è sicuro.	18 The wicked man makes empty profits, but he who sows virture has a sure reward.
19 Chi pratica la giustizia si procura la vita, chi segue il male va verso la morte.	19 Virtue directs toward life, but he who pursues evil does so to his death.
20 I cuori depravati sono in abominio al Signore che si compiace di chi ha una condotta integra.	20 The depraved in heart are an abomination to the LORD, but those who walk blamelessly are his delight.
21 Certo non resterà impunito il malvagio, ma la discendenza dei giusti si salverà.	21 Truly the evil man shall not go unpunished, but those who are just shall escape.
22 Un anello d'oro al naso d'un porco, tale è la donna bella ma priva di senno.	22 Like a golden ring in a swine's snout is a beautiful woman with a rebellious disposition.
23 La brama dei giusti è solo il bene, la speranza degli empi svanisce.	23 The desire of the just ends only in good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24 C'è chi largheggia e la sua ricchezza aumenta, c'è chi risparmia oltre misura e finisce nella miseria.	24 One man is lavish yet grows still richer; another is too sparing, yet is the poorer.
25 La persona benefica avrà successo e chi disseta sarà dissetato.	25 He who confers benefits will be amply enriched, and he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
26 Chi accaparra il grano è maledetto dal popolo, la benedizione è invocata sul capo di chi lo vende.	26 Him who monopolizes grain, the people curse-- but blessings upon the head of him who distributes it!
27 Chi è sollecito del bene trova il favore, chi ricerca il male, male avrà.	27 He who seeks the good commands favor, but he who pursues evil will have evil befall him.
28 Chi confida nella propria ricchezza cadrà; i giusti invece verdeggeranno come foglie.	28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, but like green leaves the just flourish.
29 Chi crea disordine in casa erediterà vento e lo stolto sarà schiavo dell'uomo saggio.	29 He who upsets his household has empty air for a heritage; and the fool will become slave to the wise man.
30 Il frutto del giusto è un albero di vita, il saggio conquista gli animi.	30 The fruit of virtue is a tree of life, but violence takes lives away.
31 Ecco, il giusto è ripagato sulla terra, tanto più lo saranno l'empio e il peccatore.	31 If the just man is punished on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
