| 2 « Così dice Jahve degli eserciti: “ Io ardo per Sion di grande gelosia e di grande sdegno ardo per lei! ”. | 2 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: I have been burning with jealousy for Zion, with furious jealousy for hersake. |
| 3 Così dice Jahve: ‘“ Io ritorno j a Sion e abito in mezzo a Gerusalemme; Geru' salemme si chiamerà: “ la città fedele e il monte di Jahve degli eserciti ‘il monte santo ”. | 3 Yahweh says this: I am coming back to Zion and shal live in the heart of Jerusalem. Jerusalem wil becal ed Faithful City and the mountain of Yahweh Sabaoth, the Holy Mountain. |
| 4 Così dice Jahve degli eserciti: “ Ancora ci saranno vecchi e vecchie seduti nella piazza di Gerusalemme, ciascuno con il bastone in mano per la grande età. | 4 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Aged men and women once again wil sit in the squares of Jerusalem, eachwith a stick to lean on because of their great age. |
| 5 E le piazze della città saranno piene di fanciulli e fanciulle che. giocheranno sulle sue piazze ”. | 5 And the squares of the city wil be full of boys and girls playing there. |
| 6 Così dice Jahve degli eserciti: “ Se ciò è prodigioso agli occhi dei superstiti di questo popolo in questi giorni prodigioso anche ai miei occhi? Oracolo di Jahve degli eserciti! ”. | 6 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: If this seems a miracle to the remnant of this people (in those days), wil itseem one to me? declares Yahweh. |
| 7 Così dice Jahve degli eserciti: “ Ecco, io salvo il mio popolo dal paese del levante e dal paese del tramonto del sole. | 7 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Look, I shal rescue my people from the countries of the east and from thecountries of the west. |
| 8 Li condurrò ad abitare entro Gerusalemme: saranno il mio popolo e io sarò il loro Dio in fedeltà e rettitudine ”. | 8 I shal bring them back to live in the heart of Jerusalem, and they will be my people and I shal be theirGod, faithful and just. |
| 9 Così dice Jahve degli eserciti: “ Siano forti le vostre mani, o voi che in questi giorni udite queste parole dalla bocca dei profeti: cioè nel giorno in cui si pongono le fondamenta della casa di Jahve degli eserciti, perchè il tempio sia costruito. | 9 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Take heart, you who today hear these promises uttered by the prophetssince the day when the foundations of the Temple of Yahweh Sabaoth were laid, that the sanctuary wouldindeed be rebuilt. |
| 10 Poichè: prima di questi giorni non c’era guadagno per l’uomo nè c’era guadagno per la bestia, e per chi andava e veniva non c’era pace a causa dello straniero; io allora muovevo tutti gli uomini l’un contro l’altro. | 10 For up to now, men were not paid their wages and nothing was paid for the animals either; and it hasnot been safe for anyone to come and go, because of the enemy, since I had set each one against everyoneelse. |
| 11 Ma ora: io non sono più come nei giorni passati verso il resto di questo popolo — oracolo di Jahve degli eserciti, — | 11 But from now on, I shal not treat the remnant of this people as I have treated them in time past --declares Yahweh Sabaoth. |
| 12 Poichè il suo seme è sicuro, la vigna darà il suo frutto e la terra darà il suo prodotto e il cielo darà la sua rugiada. E darò in possesso al resto di questo popolo tutte queste cose. | 12 Now they wil sow in peace; the vine will give its fruit, the soil wil give its produce and heaven will giveits dew. I shal bestow al these on the remnant of this people. |
| 13 E avverrà che, come voi eravate una maledizione tra le genti, casa di Giuda e casa di Israele, così io vi salverò e sarete una benedizione. Non temete! Siano forti le vostre mani! ”. | 13 Just as once you were a curse among the nations, House of Judah and House of Israel, so now I shalsave you, and you wil be a blessing. Do not be afraid. Take heart!" |
| 14 Poichè così dice Jahve degli eserciti: “ Come io avevo deciso di fare la vostra rovina quando i vostri padri mi provocarono all’ira — dice Jahve degli eserciti — e non me ne sono pentito, | 14 'For Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Just as I resolved to ill-treat you when your ancestors provoked me toanger and did not relent -- says Yahweh Sabaoth- |
| 15 così al contrario ho deciso in questo tempo di fare il bene di Gerusalemme e della casa di Giuda. Non temete! | 15 so now I have changed my mind and intend to treat Jerusalem and the House of Judah well. Do not beafraid! |
| 16 Queste sono le parole che dovete eseguire: Parlate con sincerità l’uno con l’altro e giudizi di pace proferite alle vostre porte. | 16 "These are the things that you must do. Speak the truth to one another; at your gates, administer fairjudgement conducive to peace; |
| 17 Non meditate nei vostri cuori l’uno la rovina dell’altro; non amate il giuramento falso perchè tutte queste sono le cose che odio. — Oracolo di Jahve! ”» | 17 do not secretly plot evil against one another; do not love perjury; since I hate al this -- Yahwehdeclares." ' |
| 18 Fu rivolta a me la parola di Jahve degli eserciti: | 18 The word of Yahweh Sabaoth was addressed to me as fol ows: |
| 19 « Così dice Jahve degli eserciti: “ Il digiuno del quarto mese, del quinto, del settimo e del decimo sarà cambiato pei la casa di Giuda in gaudio e gioia e liete solennità: ma voi abbiate cara la sincerità e la pace ”. | 19 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "The fast of the fourth month, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventhand the fast of the tenth are to become glad, joyful, happy festivals for the House of Judah. So love truth andpeace!" ' |
| 20 Così dice Jahve degli eserciti: “ Verranno ancora popoli e gli abitanti di molte città | 20 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "In the future, peoples and citizens of many cities wil come; |
| 21 e li abitanti dell’una andranno all’altra dicendo: Orsù, andiamo a: placare: la faccia di Jahve e a cercare Jahve degli eserciti: ora io voglio andarci! | 21 and citizens of one city wil go to the next and say: We must certainly go to entreat Yahweh's favourand seek out Yahweh Sabaoth; I am going myself. |
| 22 E verranno molti popoli e forti nazioni a cercare Jahve degli eserciti in Gerusalemme e a placare la faccia di Jahve ”. | 22 Yes, many peoples and great nations will seek out Yahweh Sabaoth in Jerusalem and entreatYahweh's favour." |
| 23 Così dice Jahve degli eserciti: “ In questi giorni dieci uomini da tutte le lingue delle genti afferreranno per le falde un Giudeo, dicendo: Noi verremo con te perchè abbiamo sentito: Dio è con voi!” ». | 23 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "In those days, ten men from nations of every language will take a Jew bythe sleeve and say: We want to go with you, since we have learnt that God is with you." ' |
