Livre des Proverbes 15

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Une aimable réponse apaise la fureur, une parole blessante fait monter la colère.	1 A mild answer turns away wrath, sharp words stir up anger.
2 La langue des sages rend le savoir agréable, la bouche des sots éructe la folie.	2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge welcome, the mouth of a fool spews fol y.
3 En tout lieu sont les yeux de Yahvé, ils observent méchants et bons.	3 The eyes of Yahweh are everywhere: observing the wicked and the good.
4 Langue apaisante est un arbre de vie, langue perverse brise le coeur.	4 The tongue that soothes is a tree of life; the perverse tongue, a breaker of hearts.
5 Le fou méprise la correction paternelle, qui observe la réprimande est avisé.	5 Only a fool spurns a father's discipline, whoever accepts correction is discreet.
6 Biens abondants dans la maison du juste, mais les revenus du méchant sont source d'inquiétude.	6 In the house of the upright there is no lack of treasure, the earnings of the wicked are fraught withanxiety.
7 Les lèvres des sages répandent le savoir, mais non le coeur des sots.	7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge, not so the hearts of fools.
8 Le sacrifice des méchants est une abomination pour Yahvé, mais la prière des hommes droitsfait ses délices.	8 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him is the prayer of the honest.
9 Abomination pour Yahvé: la mauvaise conduite; mais il chérit qui poursuit la justice.	9 The conduct of the wicked is abhorrent to Yahweh, but he loves the person whose goal is uprightness.
10 Sévère correction pour qui s'écarte du sentier; qui hait la réprimande mourra.	10 Correction is severe for one who leaves the way; whoever hates being reprimanded wil die.
11 Shéol et Perdition sont devant Yahvé: combien plus le coeur des enfants des hommes!	11 Sheol and Perdition lie open to Yahweh; how much more the human heart!
12 Le railleur n'aime pas qu'on le reprenne, avec les sages il ne va guère.	12 The mocker does not care to be reprimanded, and wil not choose the wise as companions.
13 Coeur joyeux fait bon visage, coeur chagrin a l'esprit abattu.	13 Glad heart means happy face, where the heart is sad the spirit is broken.
14 Coeur intelligent recherche le savoir, la bouche des sots se repaît de folie.	14 The heart of the wise seeks knowledge, a fool's mouth feeds on fol y.
15 Pour le pauvre tous les jours sont mauvais, pour le coeur joyeux, c'est un banquet perpétuel.	15 For the poor every day is evil, for the joyous heart it is always festival time.
16 Mieux vaut peu avec la crainte de Yahvé qu'un riche trésor avec l'inquiétude.	16 Better to have little and with it fear of Yahweh than immense wealth and with it anxiety.
17 Mieux vaut une portion de légumes avec l'affection qu'un boeuf gras avec la haine.	17 Better a dish of herbs when love is there than a fattened ox and hatred to go with it.
18 L'homme emporté engage la querelle, l'homme lent à la colère apaise la dispute.	18 The hot-headed provokes disputes, the equable al ays dissension.
19 Le chemin du paresseux est comme une haie d'épines, le sentier des hommes droits est unegrand-route.	19 The way of the lazy is like a thorny hedge, the path of the honest is a broad highway.
20 Le fils sage réjouit son père, l'homme sot méprise sa mère.	20 A wise child is a father's joy; only a brute despises his mother.
21 La folie fait la joie de l'homme privé de sens, l'homme intelligent va droit son chemin.	21 Fol y appeals to someone without sense, a person of understanding goes straight forward.
22 Faute de réflexion les projets échouent, grâce à de nombreux conseillers, ils prennent corps.	22 Without deliberation plans come to nothing. Plans succeed where counsellors are many.
23 Joie pour l'homme qu'une réplique de sa bouche, que c'est bon, une réponse opportune!	23 Anyone who has a ready answer has joy too: how satisfying is the apt reply!
24 A l'homme de bon sens, le sentier de la vie, qui mène en haut, afin d'éviter le shéol, en bas.	24 For the prudent, the path of life leads upwards thus avoiding Sheol below.
25 Yahvé renverse la maison des superbes, mais il relève la borne de la veuve.	25 Yahweh pulls down the house of the proud, but he keeps the widow's boundaries intact.
26 Abomination pour Yahvé: les mauvais desseins; mais les paroles bienveillantes sont pures.	26 Wicked scheming is abhorrent to Yahweh, but words that are kind are pure.
27 Qui est avide de rapines trouble sa maison, qui hait les présents vivra.	27 Craving for dishonest gain brings trouble on a house, hatred of bribery earns life.
28 Le coeur du juste médite pour répondre, la bouche des méchants éructe la méchanceté.	28 The heart of the upright reflects before answering, the mouth of the wicked spews out wickedness.
29 Yahvé s'éloigne des méchants, mais il entend la prière des justes.	29 Yahweh keeps his distance from the wicked, but he listens to the prayers of the upright.
30 Un regard bienveillant réjouit le coeur, une bonne nouvelle ranime les forces.	30 A kindly glance gives joy to the heart, good news lends strength to the bones.
31 L'oreille attentive à la réprimande salutaire a sa demeure parmi les sages.	31 The ear attentive to wholesome correction finds itself at home in the company of the wise.
32 Qui rejette la correction se méprise lui-même, qui écoute la réprimande acquiert du sens.	32 Whoever rejects correction lacks self-respect, whoever accepts reproof grows in understanding.
33 La crainte de Yahvé est discipline de sagesse, avant la gloire, il y a l'humilité.	33 The fear of Yahweh is a school of wisdom, before there can be glory, there must be humility.
