1 I Figliuoli poi d'Israele, i quali sotto i loro capi di famiglie, e tribuni, e centurione e prefetti servivano al re divisi nelle loro schiere, e si davano il cambio ogni mese dell'anno, erano in numero di ventiquattro mila con un capitano.	1 The Israelites listed according to heads of families, commanders of thousands and hundreds, withtheir officials in the king's service who dealt with al matters affecting the companies on monthly duty, month bymonth throughout the year, each company consisting of twenty-four thousand men:
2 La prima banda di ventiquattromila pel primo mese avea per capitano Jesboam figliuolo di Zabdiel,	2 The commander of the first company detailed for the first month was Jashobeam son of Zabdiel,whose company consisted of twenty-four thousand men.
3 Della stirpa di Phares, e il primo capo di tutti i capi dell'esercito, nel primo mese.	3 He belonged to the family of Perez and was the senior military officer of al those detailed for the firstmonth.
4 Alla banda del secondo mese comandava Dudia di Ahohi, e dopo di lui Macelloth, il quale comandava una parte dei ventiquattro mila.	4 The commander of the company for the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.
5 Capo parimente delle terza banda il terzo mese era Banaia sacerdote figliuolo di Joiada, che avea ventiquattromila uomini sotto di se.	5 The officer commanding the third body of men for the third month was Benaiah son of Jehoiada, thechief priest, whose company consisted of twenty-four thousand men.
6 Questi è quel Banaia fortissimo tra quei trenta, e capo dei trenta: e alla sua banda presedeva (in secondo luogo) Amizabad suo figliuolo.	6 This was the Benaiah who was an important member of the Thirty and his company. His son wasAmmizabad.
7 Quarto capitano pel quarto mese Azahel fratello di Gioab, e dopo di lui Zabadia suo figliuolo: la sua banda era di ventiquattro mila.	7 The fourth for the fourth month was Asahel brother of Joab, and his son Zebadiah after him, whosecompany consisted of twenty-four thousand men.
8 Quinto capitano pel quinto mese Samaoth di Jezer: la sua banda di ventiquattro mila.	8 The fifth officer commanding for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Zerahite, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.
9 Sesto pel sesto mese Hira figliuolodi Acces di Thecua: la sua banda di ventiquattro mila.	9 The sixth for the sixth month was Ira son of Ikkesh of Tekoa, whose company consisted of twenty-fourthousand men.
10 Settimo pel settimo mese Hellesdi Phalloni della tribù di Ephraim: la sua banda di ventiquattro mila.	10 The seventh for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, one of the Ephraimites, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.
11 Ottavo pell'ottavo mese Sobochaidi Husathi, della stirpe di Zarahi: la sua banda di ventiquattro mila.	11 The eighth for the eighth month was Sibbecai of Hushah, a Zerahite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.
12 Nono pel nono mese Abiezer di Anathoth, de' figliuoli di Jemini: la sua banda di ventiquattro mila.	12 The ninth for the ninth month was Abiezer of Anathoth, a Benjaminite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.
13 Decimo pel decimo mese Maraidi Netophath della stirpe di Zarai: e la sua banda di ventiquattro mila.	13 The tenth for the tenth month was Maharai of Netophah, a Zerahite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.

23 Ma Davidde non volle contarli dai venti anni in giù: perchè il Signore avea detto di moltiplicare Israele come le stelle del cielo.	23 Now in the census David did not include those who were twenty years old and under, since Yahwehhad promised to make Israel as numerous as the stars of heaven.

This is why retribution came upon Israel,and the number did not come up to that recorded in the annals of King David.
25 Soprintendente de' tesori del re fu Azmoth figliuolo di Adiel: di que' tesori poi, che erano nelle città, e ne' villaggi, e nelle torri, era soprintendente Gionatha figliuolo di Ozia.	25 Overseer of the king's supplies: Azmaveth son of Adiel. Overseer of supplies in the countryside,towns, vil ages and fortresses: Jonathan son of Uzziah.
26 Ai lavori poi della campagna, e ai contadini, che lavoravan la terra, presedeva Ezri figliuolo di Chelub:	26 Overseer of the farmers who til ed the land: Ezri son of Chelub.
27 E Semeia Romathite ai vignaiuoli: e alle cantine Zabdia Aphonite.	27 Overseer of vineyards: Shimei of Ramah. Overseer of those in the vineyards who looked after thewine cellars: Zabdi of Shepham.
28 Balanan di Geder avea cura degli uliveti, e de' luoghi piantati di fieni nelle pianure: e Joas delle conserve di olio.	28 Overseer of olive and sycamore trees in the Shephelah: Baal-Hanan of Geder. Overseer of oilsupplies: Joash.
29 Agli armenti, che pascevano nel Saron, era preposto Setrai di Saron: e a' buoi nelle valli di Saphat figliuolo di Aldi.	29 Overseer of cattle at pasture in the plains of Sharon: Shitrai of Sharon. Overseer of cattle in theval eys: Shaphat son of Adlai.

32 Ma Gionatha zio paterno di David, uomo letterato, e prudente era suo consigliere. Egli, e Jahiel figliuolo di Hachamoni stavano attorno a' figliuoli del re.	32 Jonathan, David's uncle, a council or, wise man and scribe, and Jehiel son of Hachmoni took care ofthe king's sons.
33 Parimente Achitophel era consiliere del re, e Chusai Arachite amico del re.	33 Ahitophel was the king's counsellor and Hushai, the Archite, was Friend of the King.
34 Dopo Achitophel fu Joiada figliuolo di Banaia, e Abiathar. Capitano generale dell'esercito del re era Gioab.	34 Jehoiada son of Benaiah and Abiathar succeeded Ahitophel -- Joab was commander of the king'sarmy.
