Lettera ai Colossesi 2

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Bramo che sappiate quale sollecitudine abbia per voi e per quelli di Laodicea, e per tutti quelli che non mi conoscono personalmente,	1 I want you to know, then, what a struggle I am having on your behalf and on behalf of those in Laodicea,and on behalf of so many others who have never seen me face to face.
2 perchè siano consolati i loro cuori e strettamente uniti nella carità, siano arricchiti della pienezza dell'intelligenza, per conoscere il mistero di Dio Padre e di Cristo Gesù,	2 It is all to bind them together in love and to encourage their resolution until they are rich in the assuranceof their complete understanding and have knowledge of the mystery of God
3 nel quale sono ascosi tutti i tesori della sapienza e della scienza.	3 in which al the jewels of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.
4 E questo ve lo dico perchè nessuno v'inganni con discorsi sottili,	4 I say this to make sure that no one deceives you with specious arguments.
5 e perchè, sebbene assente col corpo, sono però con voi con lo spirito, e godo nel vedere il vostro buon ordine e la saldezza della vostra fede in Cristo.	5 I may be absent in body, but in spirit I am there among you, delighted to find how wel -ordered you areand to see how firm your faith in Christ is.
6 Come dunque avete ricevuto Gesù Cristo per Signore, camminate in lui,	6 So then, as you received Jesus as Lord and Christ, now live your lives in him,
7 radicati, edificati in lui, corroborati nella fede, quella che vi è stata insegnata, crescendo in essa con rendimento di grazie.	7 be rooted in him and built up on him, held firm by the faith you have been taught, and overflowing withthanksgiving.
8 Guardate che nessuno vi seduca con filosofie e vani sofismi basati sull'umana tradizione, sugli elementi del mondo e non su Cristo,	8 Make sure that no one captivates you with the empty lure of a 'philosophy' of the kind that human beingshand on, based on the principles of this world and not on Christ.
9 perchè in lui abita corporalmente tutta la pienezza della divinità,	9 In him, in bodily form, lives divinity in al its ful ness,
10 e in lui siete ripieni, in lui che è capo di ogni principato e potestà.	10 and in him you too find your own fulfilment, in the one who is the head of every sovereignty and rulingforce.
11 In lui siete pure stati circoncisi, di una circoncisione non fatta da mano d'uomo, nello spogliamento del corpo della carne, ma nella circoncisione di Cristo.	11 In him you have been circumcised, with a circumcision performed, not by human hand, but by thecomplete stripping of your natural self. This is circumcision according to Christ.
12 Sepolti con lui nel battesimo, in lui voi siete anche risuscitati per la fede nella potenza di Dio, che lo ha risuscitato da morte.	12 You have been buried with him by your baptism; by which, too, you have been raised up with himthrough your belief in the power of God who raised him from the dead.
13 A voi che eravate morti nei peccati e nella circoncisione della vostra carne, Egli ridonò la vita come a lui condonandovi tutti i peccati.	13 You were dead, because you were sinners and uncircumcised in body: he has brought you to life withhim, he has forgiven us every one of our sins.
14 Egli distrusse l'atto che era stato scritto contro di noi a nostra rovina, e lo tolse di mezzo inchiodandolo alla croce;	14 He has wiped out the record of our debt to the Law, which stood against us; he has destroyed it bynailing it to the cross;
15 e spogliati i principati e le potestà, li trascinò gloriosamente in pubblico spettacolo do­po aver di loro trionfato per mez­zo di se stesso.	15 and he has stripped the sovereignties and the ruling forces, and paraded them in public, behind him inhis triumphal procession.
16 Nessuno dunque vi condanni per ragione di cibi, o di bevande, o di giorni festivi, o di novilunio, o di sabati,	16 Then never let anyone criticise you for what you eat or drink, or about observance of annual festivals,New Moons or Sabbaths.
17 le quali cose sono ombre delle future, ma il corpo è di Cristo.	17 These are only a shadow of what was coming: the reality is the body of Christ.
18 Nessuno v'inganni a suo capriccio con affettazione d'umile e superstizioso culto degli Angeli, trattando di quel che non vide e vanamente gonfio dei suoi pensieri carnali,	18 Do not be cheated of your prize by anyone who chooses to grovel to angels and worship them, pinningevery hope on visions received, vainly puffed up by a human way of thinking;
19 senza attenersi al capo dal quale tutto il corpo, mediante giunture e articolazioni, provvisto e tenuto compatto, riceve quello sviluppo che è da Dio.	19 such a person has no connection to the Head, by which the whole body, given al that it needs andheld together by its joints and sinews, grows with the growth given by God.
20 Se dunque siete morti con Cristo agli elementi di questo mondo, perchè, come se viveste ancora nel mondo, vi sottomettete a questi precetti:	20 If you have really died with Christ to the principles of this world, why do you stil let rules dictate to you,as though you were still living in the world?
21 non toccare, non gustare, non maneggiare?	21 -'Do not pick up this, do not eat that, do not touch the other,'
22 Queste sono cose che vanno tutte a perire coll'uso stesso e basate su precetti e dottrine d'uomini,	22 and al about things which perish even while they are being used -- according to merely humancommandments and doctrines!
23 e avrebbero qualche aspetto di saggezza col loro culto volontario, colla loro umiltà e col non perdonarla al corpo, ma non servono che alla soddisfazione della carne.	23 In these rules you can indeed find what seems to be good sense -- the cultivation of the wil , and ahumility which takes no account of the body; but in fact they have no value against self-indulgence.
