1 Il mese ottavo dell'anno secondo del re Dario, il Signore parlò a Zaccaria, figlio di Barachia, figlio di Addo, profeta, e gli disse:	1 In the eighth month, in the second year of king Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:
2 « Il Signore si adirò grandemente contro i vostri padri.	2 The Lord has become angry over the resentful anger of your fathers.
3 Ma tu dirai loro: Così parla il Signore degli eserciti: Tornate a me dice il Signore degli eserciti — e tornerò a voi — dice il Signore degli eserciti. —	3 And you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord of hosts: Turn to me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will turn to you, says the Lord of hosts.
4 Cercato di non essere simili ai vostri padri, ai quali predicavano gli antichi profeti, dicendo: — Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Convertitevi dalle vostre vie perverse, dai vostri pessimi pensieri. — Ma essi non ascoltarono, non dettero retta dice il Signore.	4 Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out, saying: Thus says the Lord of hosts: Turn from your evil ways and from your wicked thoughts. But they did not heed, and neither did they pay attention to me, says the Lord.
5 Dove sono i vostri padri? E i profeti dureranno in eterno?	5 Your fathers, where are they? And will the prophets live unceasingly?
6 Le mie parole, i miei decreti promulgati per mezzo dei profeti miei servi non arrivaron forse ai vostri padri, i quali si convertirono e dissero: — Quello che il Signore degli eserciti aveva pensato di farci, secondo le opere nostre e i nostri traviamenti, ce l'ha fatto? »	6 Yet truly my words and my lawfulness, which I entrusted to my servants the prophets, were indeed comprehended by your fathers, and so they were converted, and they said: Just as the Lord of hosts decided to do to us, according to our ways and according to our inventions, so has he done to us.
7 Il ventiquattro dell'undecimo mese di Su fiat, nell'anno secondo di Dario, la parola del Signore fu indirizzata al profeta Zaccaria, figlio di Barachia, figlio di Addo, in questi termini:	7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is called Shevat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:
8 « Io ebbi durante la notte una visione: Ecco un uomo sopra un cavallo rosso, stava in un burrone fra i mirti, e dietro a lui venivano cavalli rossi, vaii e bianchi.	8 I saw by night, and behold, a man riding on a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees, which were in the chasm. And behind him were horses: red, speckled, and white.
9 E io dissi: « Signor mio, questi chi sono? » E l'angelo che parlava con me mi disse: « Io ti mostrerò che siano queste cose ».	9 And I said, “What are these, my lord?” And the angel, who was speaking with me, said to me, “I will reveal to you what these are.”
10 E l'uomo che stava tra i mirti prese la parola e disse: « Questi son quelli che il Signore ha mandati a scorrere la terra ».	10 And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, “These are they, whom the Lord has sent in order to walk through the earth.”
11 E quelli risposero all'angelo del Signore, che stava fra i mirti, e dissero: « Abbiamo scorsa la terra, ed abbiamo veduto che tutta la terra è abitata e tranquilla ».	11 And those who stood among the myrtle trees answered the angel of the Lord, and they said, “We have walked through the earth, and behold, all the earth is inhabited and is at rest.”
12 E l'angelo del Signore, presa la parola, disse: « Signore degli eserciti, fino a quando non avrai pietà di Gerusalemme e delle città di Giuda, colle quali sei sdegnato? Questo è già il settantesimo anno! »	12 And the angel of the Lord answered and said, “Lord of hosts, how long will you not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, with which you have been angry? This is now the seventieth year.”
13 E il Signore rispose con buone parole, con parole di consolazione, all'angelo che parlava con me.	13 And the Lord answered the angel, who had been speaking with me, good words, consoling words.
14 E l'angelo che parlava con me mi disse: « Alza la voce e di': Così parla il Signore degli eserciti: Io sono stato animato da grande zelo per Gerusalemme e per Sion,	14 And the angel, who was speaking with me, said to me: Cry out, saying: Thus says the Lord of hosts: I have been zealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great zeal.
15 e sono ancora infiammato da grande furore contro le nazioni ricche ;ero infatti un poco adirato, ma esse hanno aiutato fino alla rovina.	15 And, with a great anger, I am angry with the wealthy nations. Though I had been angry a little, truly they advanced further in evil.
16 Per questo, così dice il Signore: Mi volgerò con misericordia a Gerusalemme e in essa sarà riedificata la mia casa, — dice il Signore degli eserciti — e il filo a piombo sarà steso sopra Gerusalemme.	16 Because of this, thus says the Lord: I will be turned back, towards Jerusalem, with mercies; and my house will be built upon this, says the Lord of hosts. And the building line will be extended over Jerusalem.
17 Alza ancora la voce, e di': Così parla il Signore degli eserciti; Le mie città avranno ancora abbondanza di beni, il Signore consolerà ancora Sion, ed eleggerà ancora Gerusalemme ».	17 Until then, cry out saying: Thus says the Lord of hosts: Until then, my cities will flow with good things, and, until then, the Lord will comfort Zion, and, until then, he will single out Jerusalem.
18 Ed io alzai gli occhi e vidi. Ed ecco quattro corni.	18 And I lifted up my eyes, and I saw. And behold: four horns.
19 E dissi all'angelo che parlava con me: « Queste che sono? » Ed egli mi disse: « Queste son corna che han gettato al vento Giuda, Israele e Gerusalemme ».	19 And I said to the angel, who was speaking with me, “What are these?” And he said to me, “These are the horns that have winnowed Judah and Israel and Jerusalem.”
20 E il Signore mi fece vedere quattro fabbri.	20 And the Lord showed me four workmen.
21 E io dissi: « Che vengono a fare costoro? » Ed egli rispose, dicendo: « Quelle son le corna che gettarono al vento Giuda, a uno a uno, e nessuno di essi potè alzare la testa, e questi son venuti a spaventarle, ad abbattere le corna delie nazioni che hanno alzato il corno contro la terra di Giuda, per sterminarla ».	21 And I said, “What have these come to do?” He spoke, saying, “These are the horns that have winnowed Judah, through every single man, and none of them lifted up his head. And these have come to frighten them away, so as to cast down the horns of the Gentiles, which have lifted up a horn over the land of Judah, so as to scatter it.”
