Amos 4

BIBBIA TINTORI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Ascoltate questa parola, o vacche grasse che state sopra le montagne di Samaria, voi che opprimete i deboli, che schiacciate ì poveri, che dite ai vostri padroni: « Portate e noi berremo ».	1 Hear this word, ye fat kine that are in the mountains of Samaria: you that oppress the needy, and crush the poor: that say to your masters: Bring, and we will drink.
2 Il Signore Dio ha giurato per la sua santità: « Ecco vengono sopra di voi dei giorni in cui v'infilzeranno sugli spiedi, e ciò che resterà di voi sarà messo in caldaie bollenti.	2 The Lord God hath sworn by his holiness, that lo, the days shall come upon you, when they shall lift you up on pikes, and what shall remain of you in boiling pots.
3 E uscirete per le brecce, l'una addosso all'altra, e sarete gettati in Armon — dice il Signore.	3 And you shall go out at the breaches one over against the other, and you shall be cast forth into Armon, saith the Lord.
4 Andate a Betel ad agire empiamente, a Galgala a moltiplicare le prevaricazioni, portate nel mattino le vostre vittime, e le vostre decime nei tre giorni.	4 Come ye to Bethel, and do wickedly: to Galgal, and multiply transgressions: and bring in the morning your victims, your tithes in three days.
5 E offrite col lievito dei sacrifizi di lode, annunziate delle oblazioni volontarie, pubblicatele; dacché a voi così piace, o figli d'Israele, — dice il Signore Dio.	5 And offer a sacrifice of praise with leaven: and call free offerings, and proclaim it: for so you would do, O children of Israel, saith the Lord God.
6 Per questo io vi diedi l'allegamento dei denti in tutte le vostre città e la mancanza del pane in tutte le vostre dimore; eppure non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore Dio.	6 Whereupon I also have given you dulness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet you have not returned to me, saith the Lord.
7 E allora io impedii alla pioggia di venire a voi, quando mancavano ancora tre mesi alla mietitura, feci piovere sopra una città e sopra un'altra città non feci piovere: una parte era rinfrescata dalla pioggia, e l'altra, non avendo da me la pioggia, era riarsa.	7 I also have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon: and the piece whereupon I rained not, withered.
8 E due e tre città andarono ad un'altra città per bere l'acqua, e non si dissetarono: eppure voi non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore.	8 And two and three cities went to one city to drink water, and were not filled: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.
9 Vi colpii col vento infocato e colla ruggine; i vostri numerosi giardini, le vostre vigne, i vostri uliveti, i vostri figli li ha divorati l'eruca; eppure non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore.	9 I struck you with a burning wind, and with mildew, the palmerworm hath eaten up your many gardens, and your vineyards: your olive groves, and fig groves: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.
10 Io inviai in mezzo a voi la morte nella maniera dell'Egitto, feci perir sotto la spada la vostra gioventù, fino a far prendere i vostri stessi cavalli; e feci giungere alle vostre narici la putredine dei vostri accimpamenti; eppure non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore.	10 I sent death upon you in the way of Egypt, I slew your young men with the sword, even to the captivity of your horses: and I made the stench of your camp to come up into your nostrils: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.
11 Io vi ho distrutti, come Dio distrusse Sodoma e Gomorra, e voi siete diventati come un tizzone sottratto ad un incendio; eppure non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore.	11 I destroyed some of you, as God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha, and you were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.
12 Per questo io ti farò queste cose, o Israele, e quando te le avrò fatte, preparati ad andare incentro al tuo Dio, o Israele.	12 Therefore I will do these things to thee, O Israel: and after I shall have done these things to thee, be prepared to meet thy God, O Israel.
13 Infatti Colui che forma le montagne, e crea i venti, e fa sentire agli uomini la sua parola, e produce la nebbia del mattino, e cammina sopra i luoghi piti alti della terra si chi ama il Signore Dio degli eserciti ».	13 For behold he that formeth the mountains and createth the wind, and declareth his word to man, he that maketh the morning mist, and walketh upon the high places of the earth: the Lord the God of hosts is his name.
