1 Questi sono i capi delle famiglie e la genealogia di quelli che salirono con me da Babilonia, sotto il regno del re Artaserse.	1 Now these are the chiefs of families, and the genealogy of them, who came up with me from Babylon in the reign of Artaxerxes the king.
2 Dei figli di Finees: Gersom. Dei figli di Itamar: Daniele. Dei figli di David: Attus.	2 Of the sons of Phinees, Gersom. Of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel. Of the sons of David, Hattus.
3 Dei figli di Sechenia, dei figli di Faros: Zaccaria, col quale furono registra ti centocinquanta uomini.	3 Of the sons of Sechenias, the son of Pharos, Zacharias, and with him were numbered a hundred and fifty men.
4 Dei figli di Faat: Moab; Elioenai figlio di Zarehe, e con lui duecento uomini.	4 Of the sons of Phahath Moab, Eleoenai the son of Zareha, and with him two hundred men.
5 Dei figli di Secheniay il figlio di Ezechiele, e con lui trecento uomini.	5 Of the sons of Sechenias, the son of Ezechiel, and with him three hundred men.
6 Dei figli di Adan: Abed figlio di Ionatan, e con lui cinquanta uomini.	6 Of the sons of Adan, Abed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty men.
7 Dei figli di Alam: Isaia figlio di Atalia, e con lui settanta uomini.	7 Of the sons of Alam, Isaias the son of Athalias, and with him seventy men.

9 Dei figli di Ioab: Obe dia figlio di Iahiel, e con lui duecento diciotto uomini.	9 Of the sons of Joab, Obedia the son of Jahiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen men.
10 Dei figli di Selomit: il figlio di Iosfia, e con lui centosessanta uomini.	10 Of the sons of Selomith, the son of Josphia, and with him a hundred and sixty men.
11 Dei figli di Bebai: Zaccaria figlio di Bebai, e con lui ventotto uomini.	11 Of the sons of Bebai, Zacharias the son of Bebai: and with him eight and twenty men.
12 Dei figli di Azgad: Iohanan figlio di Eccetan, e con lui cento dieci uomini.	12 Of the sons of Azgad, Joanan the son of Eccetan, and with him a hundred and ten men.
13 Dei figli di Adonicam, che erano gli ultimi, ecco i nomi: Elifelet, Iehiel, Samaia, e con essi sessanta uomini.	13 Of the sons of Adonicam, who were the last: and these are their names: Eliphelet, and Jehiel, and Samaias, and with them sixty men.
14 Dei figli di Begui: Utai e Zacur, e con essi settanta uomini.	14 Of the sons of Begui, Uthai and Zachur, and with them seventy men.
15 Io li radunai presso il fiume che scorre verso Ahava, ove ci fermammo tre giorni, e cercai tra il popolo e tra i sacerdoti qualcuno dei figli di Levi, senza trovarne uno.	15 And I gathered them together to the river, which runneth down to Ahava, and we stayed there three days: and I sought among the people and among the priests for the sons of Levi, and found none there.
16 Allora mandai i principi Eliezer, Ariel, Semeia, Elnatan, Iarib e un altro Elnatan, Natan, Zaccaria, Mosollam, e i sapienti Ioiarib e Elnatan,	16 So I sent Eliezer, and Ariel, and Semeias, and Elnathan, and Jarib, and another Elnathan, and Nathan, and Zacharias, and Mosollam, chief men: and Joiarib, and Elnathan, wise men.
17 e li mandai a trovare Eddo, capo nel luogo di Casfìa e posi nella loro bocca le parole che do vevan dire a Eddo e ai suoi fra telli Natinei del luogo di Casfìa, affinchè ci menassero dei ministri della casa del nostro Dio.	17 And I sent them to Eddo, who is chief in the place of Chasphia, and I put in their mouth the words that they should speak to Eddo, and his brethren the Nathinites in the place of Chasphia, that they should bring us ministers of the house of our God.
18 Per la mano del nostro Dio favorevole verso di noi, ci menarono un uomo dottissimo dei figli di Moholi, figlio di Levi, figlio d'Israele, e Sarabia coi suoi figli e i suoi fratelli in numero di diciotto,	18 And by the good hand of our God upon us, they brought us a most learned man of the sons of Moholi the son of Levi the son of Israel, and Sarabias and his sons, and his brethren eighteen,
19 e Asabia, e con lui Isaia dei figli di Merari coi suoi figli e i suoi fratelli in numero di venti,	19 And Hasabias, and with him Isaias of the sons of Merari, and his brethren, and his sons twenty.
20 dei Natinei che David e i principi avevan destinati al servizio dei leviti, duecento venti Natinei: tutti questi erano designati coi loro nomi.	20 And of the Nathinites, whom David, and the princes gave for the service of the Levites, Nathinites two hundred and twenty: all these were called by their names.
21 Là presso il fiume Ahava intimai un digiuno, per affliggerci dinanzi al Signore Dio nostro e chiedergli un prospero viaggio per noi, per i nostri figli e per tutte le nostre cose.	21 And I proclaimed there a fast by the river Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before the Lord our God, and might ask of him a right way for us and for our children, and for all our substance.
22 Siccome io m'ero vergognato di chiedere al re dell'aiuto di soldati a cavallo per difenderci nel viaggio dal nemico, avendo noi detto al re: « La mano del nostro Dio è sopra tutti quelli che lo cercano con sincerità, e il suo impero, la sua forza, il suo furore sopra tutti quelli che lo abbandonano »,	22 For I was ashamed to ask the king for aid and for horsemen, to defend us from the enemy in the way: because we had said to the king: The hand of our God is upon all them that seek him in goodness: and his power and strength, and wrath upon all them that forsake him.
23 per questo digiunammo invocando il nostro Dio, e ci andò prospera mente.	23 And we fasted, and besought our God for this: and it fell out prosperously unto us.
24 Scelti dodici principi dei sacerdoti, Sarabia, Asabia e con essi dieci dei loro fratelli,	24 And I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sarabias, and Hasabias, and with them ten of their brethren,
25 pesai loro l'argento e l'oro ed i vasi consacrati della casa del nostro Dio, offerti dal re, dai suoi consiglieri, dai suoi principi e da tutti gl'israeliti che si eran trovati,	25 And I weighed unto them the silver and gold, and the vessels consecrated for the house of our God, which the king and his counsellors, and his princes, and all Israel, that were found had offered.
26 e pesai nelle loro mani seicento cinquanta talenti d'argento, cento vasi d'argento e cento talenti d'oro;	26 And I weighed to their hands six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and a hundred vessels of silver, and a hundred talents of gold,
27 venti coppe d'oro che pesavano mille dramme; due vasi di rame lucente e finissimo, belli come l'oro.	27 And twenty cups of gold, of a thousand solids, and two vessels of the best shining brass, beautiful as gold.
28 E dissi loro: « Voi siete consacrati al Signore e sacri sono i vasi d'argento, e l'oro offerto spontaneamente al Signore Dio dei padri nostri.	28 And I said to them: You are the holy ones of the Lord, and the vessels are holy, and the silver and gold, that is freely offered to the Lord the God of our fathers.
29 State attenti e custoditeli, finché non fi pesiate davanti ai principi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti, e ai capi delle famiglie d'Israele in Gerusalemme, per il tesoro della casa di Dio ».	29 Watch ye and beep them, till you deliver them by weight before the chief of the priests, and of the Levites, and the heads of the families of Israel in Jerusalem, into the treasure of the house of the Lord.
30 I sacerdoti ed i leviti ricevettero pesati l'argento, l'oro e i vasi, per portarli a Gerusalemme nella casa del nostro Dio.	30 And the priests and the Levites received the weight of the silver and gold, and the vessels, to carry them to Jerusalem to the house of our God.
31 Partimmo dunque dal fiume Ahava ai dodici del primo mese per recarci a Gerusalemme, e la mano del nostro Dio fu su di noi e ci liberò dalla mano del nemico e da chi tende va insidie per via.	31 Then we set forward from the river Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month to go to Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.
32 Arrivati a Gerusalemme ci riposammo tre giorni.	32 And we came to Jerusalem, and we stayed there three days.
33 Il quarto giorno fu pesato l'argento, l'oro e i vasi della casa del nostro Dio da Meremot figlio di Uria, sacerdote; con lui era Eleazaro figlio di Finees, con Iozabed figlio di Iosue, Noadaia figlio di Bennoi, leviti.	33 And on the fourth day the silver and the gold, and the vessels were weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Urias the priest, and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinees, and with them Jozabad the son of Josue, and Noadaia the son of Benoi, Levites.
34 Numerata e pesata ogni cosa, fu poi registrato tutto il peso.	34 According to the number and weight of every thing: and all the weight was written at that time.
35 I figli della trasmigrazione dopo ritornati dalla cattività offersero olocausti al Dio d'Israele: dodici vitelli per tutto il popolo d'Israele; novantasei montoni, settantasette agnelli, dodici capri per il peccato: tutto questo in olocausto al Signore.	35 Moreover the children of them that had been carried away that were come out of the captivity, offered holocausts to the God of Israel, twelve calves for all the people of Israel, ninety-six rams, seventyseven lambs, and twelve he goats for sin: all for a holocaust to the Lord.
36 Presentarono gii editti del re ai satrapi che erano presso il re, e ai governatori d'oltre il fiume, i quali esaltarono il popolo e la casa di Dio.	36 And they gave the king's edicts to the lords that were from the king's court, and the governors beyond the river, and they furthered the people and the house of God.
