1 - Ma lo Spirito dice espressamente che nei tempi avvenire alcuni apostateranno dalla fede, dando retta a spiriti ingannatori e a dottrine di demoni	1 Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the last times some will turn away from the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and demonic instructions
2 ipocritamente mentitori, bollati a fuoco nella propria coscienza,	2 through the hypocrisy of liars with branded consciences.
3 i quali vietano le nozze, e vogliono l'astensione da cibi che Dio ha creati per il godimento, con azioni di grazie, dei fedeli e di quelli che han conosciuto la verità.	3 They forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
4 Giacchè ogni cosa creata da Dio è buona, e nessuna è da rigettare, se presa con azioni di grazia;	4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected when received with thanksgiving,
5 essendo santificato per la parola di Dio e per la preghiera.	5 for it is made holy by the invocation of God in prayer.
6 Queste cose proponendo ai fratelli, sarai un buon diacono di Cristo Gesù, nutrito colle parole della fede e della sana dottrina, che tu hai esattamente seguìto.	6 If you will give these instructions to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound teaching you have followed.
7 E le favole profane e da vecchierelle, rigettale: esercitati invece nella pietà.	7 Avoid profane and silly myths. Train yourself for devotion,
8 Poichè l'esercizio del corpo è utile a poco, ma la pietà è utile a tutto; avendo promessa di vita, sì della vita presente, sì della futura.	8 for, while physical training is of limited value, devotion is valuable in every respect, since it holds a promise of life both for the present and for the future.
9 Ecco una parola sicura e da accettarsi con piena fiducia:	9 This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance.
10 per questo noi ci affatichiamo e lottiamo, perchè abbiamo messo la nostra speranza nel Dio vivente, il quale è il Salvatore di tutti gli uomini, massime dei fedeli.	10 For this we toil and struggle, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the savior of all, especially of those who believe.
11 Tu annunzia queste cose e insegnale.	11 Command and teach these things.
12 Nessuno abbia a disprezzare la tua giovinezza, ma sii modello ai fedeli nella parola, nella condotta, nella carità, nella fede, nella purezza.	12 Let no one have contempt for your youth, but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.
13 Fin ch'io torni bada alla lettura, all'esortazione, all'insegnamento.	13 Until I arrive, attend to the reading, exhortation, and teaching.
14 Non trascurare il carisma che è in te, il quale ti fu dato per ispirazione profetica, con l'imposizione delle mani degli anziani.	14 Do not neglect the gift you have, which was conferred on you through the prophetic word with the imposition of hands of the presbyterate.
15 Cura queste cose, vivi in quelle, perchè il tuo progredire sia palese a tutti.	15 Be diligent in these matters, be absorbed in them, so that your progress may be evident to everyone.
16 Attendi a te e al compito d'insegnare, e in questo persevera; facendo così, salverai te stesso e i tuoi ascoltatori.	16 Attend to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in both tasks, for by doing so you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.
