Prima lettera ai Tessalonicesi 4

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Del rimanente, fratelli, poichè avete sentito da noi qual sia la condotta da tenere per piacere a Dio, vi chiediamo e vi esortiamo nel Signore Gesù a seguir questa condotta, affinchè progrediate sempre più.	1 Final y, brothers, we urge you and appeal to you in the Lord Jesus; we instructed you how to live in theway that pleases God, and you are so living; but make more progress stil .
2 Voi ben sapete quali precetti noi vi abbiamo dato per via del Signore Gesù.	2 You are well aware of the instructions we gave you on the authority of the Lord Jesus.
3 Poichè questa è la volontà di Dio, la santificazione vostra; che v'asteniate dalla fornicazione;	3 God wil s you al to be holy. He wants you to keep away from sexual immorality,
4 che ciascuno di voi sappia tenere il proprio corpo in santità e onestà,	4 and each one of you to know how to control his body in a way that is holy and honourable,
5 non lasciandovi dominare dalla concupiscenza, come fanno i Gentili che non conoscono Dio;	5 not giving way to selfish lust like the nations who do not acknowledge God.
6 che nessuno usi soperchierie o inganni nei negozi col proprio fratello, perchè il Signore fa giustizia di tutte queste cose, come v'abbiamo già detto e dichiarato.	6 He wants nobody at al ever to sin by taking advantage of a brother in these matters; the Lord alwayspays back sins of that sort, as we told you before emphatical y.
7 Dio ci ha chiamato non a impurità, ma a santificazione.	7 God cal ed us to be holy, not to be immoral;
8 Dimodoche chi sprezza ciò, non disprezza un uomo ma Iddio stesso, che dà a voi il suo Spirito Santo.	8 in other words, anyone who rejects this is rejecting not human authority, but God, who gives you hisHoly Spirit.
9 Quanto all'amor fraterno, non avete bisogno ch'io vi scriva, poichè voi stessi avete imparato da Dio ad amarvi gli uni gli altri;	9 As for brotherly love, there is no need to write to you about that, since you have yourselves learnt fromGod to love one another,
10 e lo fate veramente per tutti i vostri fratelli in tutta la Macedonia.	10 and in fact this is how you treat al the brothers throughout the whole of Macedonia. However, we dourge you, brothers, to go on making even greater progress
11 Noi, o fratelli, vi esortiamo a farlo sempre di più, e abbiate l'ambizione di viver tranquilli, e attendere ai vostri affari e lavorare colle vostre mani, come vi abbiamo inculcato,	11 and to make a point of living quietly, attending to your own business and earning your living, just as wetold you to,
12 affinchè viviate in modo decoroso rispetto a quei di fuori, e non abbiate bisogno di nessuno.	12 so that you may earn the respect of outsiders and not be dependent on anyone.
13 Non vogliamo poi, o fratelli, che siate nell'ignoranza per quel che riguarda quelli che dormono [il sonno della morte], affinchè non vi rattristiate come gli altri che non hanno speranza.	13 We want you to be quite certain, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, to make sure that youdo not grieve for them, as others do who have no hope.
14 Se crediamo che Gesù è morto ed è risuscitato, del pari Iddio quelli che son morti per via di Gesù li ricondurrà con sè.	14 We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that in the same way God wil bring with him thosewho have fallen asleep in Jesus.
15 Questo vi diciamo colla parola del Signore, che noi rimasti vivi fino alla venuta di Lui, non precederemo quelli che si sono addormentati.	15 We can tell you this from the Lord's own teaching, that we who are stil alive for the Lord's coming willnot have any advantage over those who have fallen asleep.
16 Il Signore stesso al segnale, alla voce dell'arcangelo e allo squillo della tromba divina, scenderà dal cielo, e i morti in Cristo prima risusciteranno,	16 At the signal given by the voice of the Archangel and the trumpet of God, the Lord himself wil comedown from heaven; those who have died in Christ wil be the first to rise,
17 appresso, noi rimasti vivi insiem con loro, saremo rapiti nelle nuvole per muovere incontro al Signore nell'aria, e così saremo sempre col Signore.	17 and only after that shall we who remain alive be taken up in the clouds, together with them, to meetthe Lord in the air. This is the way we shall be with the Lord for ever.
18 Sicchè riconfortatevi a vicenda in siffatti discorsi.	18 With such thoughts as these, then, you should encourage one another.
