| 7 E avverrà, che chiunque ti vedrà, balzerà indietro spaventato e dirà: - Ninive devastata! - Chi avrà un segno di pietà per te? Dove cercherò io chi osi compassionarti? | 7 And all who look on you will shrink from you and say, Wasted is Nineveh; who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for her? |
| 8 Sei tu forse meglio di No-Amon, collocata in mezzo ai fiumi, accerchiata tutto intorno dalle acque, che ha la ricchezza del mare e l'acqua per muro? | 8 Are you better than Thebes that sat by the Nile, with water around her, her rampart a sea, and water her wall? |

| 13 Ecco, tu hai dentro di te un popolo di donne; le porte della tua terra si spalancheranno ai tuoi nemici, e il fuoco consumerà le tue barricate. | 13 Behold, your troops are women in your midst. The gates of your land are wide open to your foes; fire has devoured your bars. |
| 14 Fa' provvista di acqua per l'assedio, ripara le tue fortificazioni, entra nella mattonaia e pesta e impasta mattoni a tutta forza. | 14 Draw water for the siege, strengthen your forts; go into the clay, tread the mortar, take hold of the brick mold! |
| 15 Quivi il fuoco ti consumerà e la spada ti sterminerà, ti divorerà come i bruchi; anche se ti adunassi come cavallette e ti moltiplicassi come locuste! | 15 There will the fire devour you, the sword will cut you off. It will devour you like the locust. Multiply yourselves like the locust, multiply like the grasshopper! |
| 16 Hai accresciuto il numero dei tuoi mercenari più che le stelle del cielo: il bruco spiegò le ali e volò via. | 16 You increased your merchants more than the stars of the heavens. The locust spreads its wings and flies away. |
| 17 I tuoi uomini di presidio sono le locuste, e il tuo popolo minuto, i piccoli delle locuste, che si rifugiano sulle siepi nelle ore di freddo. S'è levato il sole e son volati via, e non si conosce più il luogo dov'erano. | 17 Your princes are like grasshoppers, your scribes like clouds of locusts settling on the fences in a day of cold--when the sun rises, they fly away; no one knows where they are. |

Your people are scattered on the mountains with none to gather them. |
| 19 La tua ferita non è sanabile, la tua piaga è pessima; tutti coloro che ne udiranno l'annunzio batteranno le mani sopra di te, perchè non v'è alcuno su cui non sia passata la tua malvagità senza tregua». | 19 There is no assuaging your hurt, your wound is grievous. All who hear the news of you clap their hands over you. For upon whom has not come your unceasing evil? |
