BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 - Già sale incontro a te colui che devasterà, colui che ti stringerà d'assedio; e tu sorvegliane la marcia, ingagliardisci i fianchi, rinforza la lena molto.	1 He is come up that shall destroy before thy face, that shall keep the siege: watch the way, fortify thy loins, strengthen thy power exceedingly.
2 Perchè il Signore ha restituita la gloria di Giacobbe, la gloria di quei di Israele com'era; benchè i devastatori li abbiano dispersi e abbian dato il guasto a tutte le propaggini loro.	2 For the Lord hath rendered the pride of Jacob, as the pride of Israel: because the spoilers have laid them waste, and have marred their vine branches.
3 Lo scudo dei suoi forti è fiammeggiante; in vesti vermiglie è la gente del suo esercito; sono scintillanti le bardature dei carri: nel giorno dei preparativi, i cocchieri li agitano vertiginosamente.	3 The shield of his mighty men is like fire, the men of the army are clad in scarlet, the reins of the chariot are flaming in the day of his preparation, and the drivers are stupefied.
4 Si confondono per le strade, s'urtano i carri per le piazze, hanno l'aspetto di faci, di folgori guizzanti.	4 They are in confusion in the ways, the chariots jostle one against another in the streets: their looks are like torches, like lightning running to and fro.
5 Arringa i suoi prodi, si precipitano per le vie, salgono veloci alle mura e si dispone il riparo.	5 He will muster up his valiant men, they shall stumble in their march: they shall quickly get upon the walls thereof: and a covering shall be prepared.
6 Già si sono spalancate le porte dei fiumi e la reggia è rovesciata al suolo;	6 The gates of the rivers are opened, and the temple is thrown down to the ground.
7 la milizia fatta prigioniera è condotta via; le sue ancelle trascinate gementi come colombe coi singhiozzi nel petto;	7 And the soldier is led away captive: and her bondwomen were led away mourning as doves, murmuring in their hearts.
8 e Ninive dalle sue proprie acque invasa è come una laguna; ma essi sono fuggiti. Fermatevi, fermatevi! Ma non c'è nessuno, che si volga indietro.	8 And as for Ninive, her waters are like a great pool, but the men flee away. They cry: Stand, stand, but there is none that will return back.
9 Predate l'argento, predate l'oro, ricchezze senza fine di oggetti preziosissimi d'ogni sorta!	9 Take ye the spoil of the silver, take the spoil of the gold: for there is no end of the riches of all the precious furniture.
10 Devastata, squarciata, messa a brani, strutto il cuore, disciolte le ginocchia, spossata di tutte le forze, e tutte le facce tinte come paiuoli!	10 She is destroyed, and rent, and torn: the heart melteth, and the knees fail, and all the loins lose their strength: and the faces of them all are as the blackness of a kettle.
11 Dov'è l'albergo dei leoni, il luogo dei pasti dei lioncelli, dove andava il leone a ritirarsi col lioncello, senza alcuno che osasse disturbarli?	11 Where is now the dwelling of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, to which the lion went, to enter in thither, the young lion, and there was none to make them afraid?
12 Il leone faceva abbondanti prede pei suoi lioncelli e strozzava vittime per le sue leonesse, e aveva riempito di preda la sua tana e di rapina il suo covo.	12 The lion caught enough for his whelps, and killed for his lionesses: and he filled his holes with prey, and his den with rapine.
13 Ma eccomi a te, dice il Signore degli eserciti, io voglio incenerire e mandare in fumo tutte le tue quadrighe; i tuoi leoni saranno pascolo della spada e sterminerò dalla terra la tua preda, e non si udirà più mai la voce dei tuoi nunzi!	13 Behold I come against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will burn thy chariots even to smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey out of the land, and the voice of thy messengers shall be heard no more.
