1 Noi, che siamo i forti, abbiamo il dovere di portare le infermità dei deboli, senza compiacere noi stessi.	1 It is for us who are strong to bear with the susceptibilities of the weaker ones, and not pleaseourselves.
2 Ciascuno di noi cerchi di piacere al prossimo nel bene, per edificarlo.	2 Each of us must consider his neighbour's good, so that we support one another.
3 Anche Cristo infatti non cercò di piacere a se stesso, ma, come sta scritto: Gli insulti di chi ti insulta ricadano su di me.	3 Christ did not indulge his own feelings, either; indeed, as scripture says: The insults of those whoinsult you fal on me.
4 Tutto ciò che è stato scritto prima di noi, è stato scritto per nostra istruzione, perché, in virtù della perseveranza e della consolazione che provengono dalle Scritture, teniamo viva la speranza.	4 And all these things which were written so long ago were written so that we, learning perseveranceand the encouragement which the scriptures give, should have hope.
5 E il Dio della perseveranza e della consolazione vi conceda di avere gli uni verso gli altri gli stessi sentimenti, sull’esempio di Cristo Gesù,	5 Now the God of perseverance and encouragement give you al the same purpose, fol owing theexample of Christ Jesus,
6 perché con un solo animo e una voce sola rendiate gloria a Dio, Padre del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo.	6 so that you may together give glory to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with one heart.
7 Accoglietevi perciò gli uni gli altri come anche Cristo accolse voi, per la gloria di Dio.	7 Accept one another, then, for the sake of God's glory, as Christ accepted you.
8 Dico infatti che Cristo è diventato servitore dei circoncisi per mostrare la fedeltà di Dio nel compiere le promesse dei padri;	8 I tel you that Christ's work was to serve the circumcised, fulfil ing the truthfulness of God by carryingout the promises made to the fathers,
9 le genti invece glorificano Dio per la sua misericordia, come sta scritto: Per questo ti loderò fra le genti e canterò inni al tuo nome.	9 and his work was also for the gentiles, so that they should give glory to God for his faithful love; as scripture says: For this I shall praise you among the nations and sing praise to your name.
10 E ancora: Esultate, o nazioni, insieme al suo popolo.	10 And in another place it says: Nations, rejoice, with his people,
11 E di nuovo: Genti tutte, lodate il Signore; i popoli tutti lo esaltino.	11 and in another place again: Praise the Lord, all nations, extol him, al peoples.
12 E a sua volta Isaia dice: Spunterà il rampollo di Iesse, colui che sorgerà a governare le nazioni: in lui le nazioni spereranno.	12 And in Isaiah, it says: The root of Jesse wil appear, he who rises up to rule the nations, and in himthe nations wil put their hope.
13 Il Dio della speranza vi riempia, nel credere, di ogni gioia e pace, perché abbondiate nella speranza per la virtù dello Spirito Santo.	13 May the God of hope fil you with all joy and peace in your faith, so that in the power of the HolySpirit you may be rich in hope.
14 Fratelli miei, sono anch’io convinto, per quel che vi riguarda, che voi pure siete pieni di bontà, colmi di ogni conoscenza e capaci di correggervi l’un l’altro.	14 My brothers, I am quite sure that you, in particular, are ful of goodness, ful y instructed and capableof correcting each other.
15 Tuttavia, su alcuni punti, vi ho scritto con un po’ di audacia, come per ricordarvi quello che già sapete, a motivo della grazia che mi è stata data da Dio	15 But I have special confidence in writing on some points to you, to refresh your memories, because ofthe grace that was given to me by God.
16 per essere ministro di Cristo Gesù tra le genti, adempiendo il sacro ministero di annunciare il vangelo di Dio perché le genti divengano un’offerta gradita, santificata dallo Spirito Santo.	16 I was given grace to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the gentiles, dedicated to offer them the gospelof God, so that gentiles might become an acceptable offering, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
17 Questo dunque è il mio vanto in Gesù Cristo nelle cose che riguardano Dio.	17 So I can be proud, in Christ Jesus, of what I have done for God.
18 Non oserei infatti dire nulla se non di quello che Cristo ha operato per mezzo mio per condurre le genti all’obbedienza, con parole e opere,	18 Of course I can dare to speak only of the things which Christ has done through me to win theal egiance of the gentiles, using what I have said and done,
19 con la potenza di segni e di prodigi, con la forza dello Spirito. Così da Gerusalemme e in tutte le direzioni fino all’Illiria, ho portato a termine la predicazione del vangelo di Cristo.	19 by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God. In this way, from Jerusalemand all round, even as far as Il yricum, I have ful y carried out the preaching of the gospel of Christ;
20 Ma mi sono fatto un punto di onore di non annunciare il Vangelo dove era già conosciuto il nome di Cristo, per non costruire su un fondamento altrui,	20 and what is more, it has been my rule to preach the gospel only where the name of Christ has notalready been heard, for I do not build on another's foundations;
21 ma, come sta scritto: Coloro ai quali non era stato annunciato, lo vedranno, e coloro che non ne avevano udito parlare, comprenderanno.	21 in accordance with scripture: Those who have never been told about him wil see him, and thosewho have never heard about him will understand.
22 Appunto per questo fui impedito più volte di venire da voi.	22 That is why I have been so often prevented from coming to see you;
23 Ora però, non trovando più un campo d’azione in queste regioni e avendo già da parecchi anni un vivo desiderio di venire da voi,	23 now, however, as there is nothing more to keep me in these parts, I hope, after longing for manyyears past to visit you, to see you when I am on the way to Spain-
24 spero di vedervi, di passaggio, quando andrò in Spagna, e di essere da voi aiutato a recarmi in quella regione, dopo avere goduto un poco della vostra presenza.	24 and after enjoying at least something of your company, to be sent on my way with your support.
25 Per il momento vado a Gerusalemme, a rendere un servizio ai santi di quella comunità;	25 But now I have undertaken to go to Jerusalem in the service of the holy people of God there,
26 la Macedonia e l’Acaia infatti hanno voluto realizzare una forma di comunione con i poveri tra i santi che sono a Gerusalemme.	26 since Macedonia and Achaia have chosen to make a generous contribution to the poor amongGod's holy people at Jerusalem.
27 L’hanno voluto perché sono ad essi debitori: infatti le genti, avendo partecipato ai loro beni spirituali, sono in debito di rendere loro un servizio sacro anche nelle loro necessità materiali.	27 Yes, they chose to; not that they did not owe it to them. For if the gentiles have been given a sharein their spiritual possessions, then in return to give them help with material possessions is repaying a debt tothem.
28 Quando avrò fatto questo e avrò consegnato sotto garanzia quello che è stato raccolto, partirò per la Spagna passando da voi.	28 So when I have done this, and given this harvest into their possession, I shall visit you on the way toSpain.
29 So che, giungendo presso di voi, ci verrò con la pienezza della benedizione di Cristo.	29 I am sure that, when I do come to you, I shal come with the fullest blessing of Christ.
30 Perciò, fratelli, per il Signore nostro Gesù Cristo e l’amore dello Spirito, vi raccomando: lottate con me nelle preghiere che rivolgete a Dio,	30 Meanwhile I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, that in yourprayers to God for me you exert yourselves to help me;
31 perché io sia liberato dagli infedeli della Giudea e il mio servizio a Gerusalemme sia bene accetto ai santi.	31 praying that I may escape the unbelievers in Judaea, and that the aid I am carrying to Jerusalem wilbe acceptable to God's holy people.
32 Così, se Dio lo vuole, verrò da voi pieno di gioia per riposarmi in mezzo a voi.	32 Then I shal come to you, if God wil s, for a happy time of relaxation in your company.
33 Il Dio della pace sia con tutti voi. Amen.	33 The God of peace be with you al . Amen.
