BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Mi metterò di sentinella, in piedi sulla fortezza, a spiare, per vedere che cosa mi dirà, che cosa risponderà ai miei lamenti.	1 I shal stand at my post, I shall station myself on my watch-tower, watching to see what he wil say tome, what answer he wil make to my complaints.
2 Il Signore rispose e mi disse: «Scrivi la visione e incidila bene sulle tavolette, perché la si legga speditamente.	2 Then Yahweh answered me and said, 'Write the vision down, inscribe it on tablets to be easily read.
3 È una visione che attesta un termine, parla di una scadenza e non mentisce; se indugia, attendila, perché certo verrà e non tarderà.	3 For the vision is for its appointed time, it hastens towards its end and it wil not lie; although it may takesome time, wait for it, for come it certainly will before too long.
4 Ecco, soccombe colui che non ha l’animo retto, mentre il giusto vivrà per la sua fede».	4 'You see, anyone whose heart is not upright wil succumb, but the upright wil live through faithfulness.'
5 La ricchezza rende perfidi; il superbo non sussisterà, spalanca come gli inferi le sue fauci e, come la morte, non si sazia, attira a sé tutte le nazioni, raduna per sé tutti i popoli.	5 Now, surely, wealth is treacherous! He is arrogant, for ever on the move, with appetite as large asSheol and as insatiable as Death, gathering in al the nations, and making a harvest of al peoples.
6 Forse che tutti non lo canzoneranno, non faranno motteggi per lui? Diranno: «Guai a chi accumula ciò che non è suo, – e fino a quando? – e si carica di beni avuti in pegno!».	6 Are not the peoples al bound to satirise and make up cryptic riddles about him? As for instance:Disaster to anyone who amasses goods not his (for how long?) and to anyone who weighs himself down withgoods taken in pledge!
7 Forse che non sorgeranno a un tratto i tuoi creditori, non si sveglieranno e ti faranno tremare e tu diverrai loro preda?	7 Wil not your creditors suddenly stand up, wil not those who make you shiver wake up, and you wil fala prey to them?
8 Poiché tu hai saccheggiato molte genti, gli altri popoli saccheggeranno te, perché hai versato sangue umano e hai fatto violenza a regioni, alle città e ai loro abitanti.	8 Since you have plundered many nations, al the nations that remain wil plunder you, because of thebloodshed and violence done to the country, to the city and to all who live in it.
9 Guai a chi è avido di guadagni illeciti, un male per la sua casa, per mettere il nido in luogo alto e sfuggire alla stretta della sventura.	9 Disaster to anyone who amasses ill-gotten gains for his house, so as to fix his nest on high and soevade the reach of misfortune!
10 Hai decretato il disonore alla tua casa: quando hai soppresso popoli numerosi hai fatto del male contro te stesso.	10 You have conspired to bring shame on your house: by overthrowing many peoples you have workedyour own ruin.
11 La pietra infatti griderà dalla parete e la trave risponderà dal tavolato.	11 For the very stone will protest from the wal , and the beam wil respond from the framework.
12 Guai a chi costruisce una città sul sangue, ne pone le fondamenta sull’iniquità.	12 Disaster to anyone who builds a town with bloodshed and founds a city on wrong-doing!
13 Non è forse volere del Signore degli eserciti che i popoli si affannino per il fuoco e le nazioni si affatichino invano?	13 Is it not thanks to Yahweh Sabaoth that the peoples' toil is fuel for the fire, and the nations' labourcame to nothing?
14 Poiché la terra si riempirà della conoscenza della gloria del Signore, come le acque ricoprono il mare.	14 But the earth wil be full of the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh as the waters cover the depths of thesea.
15 Guai a chi fa bere i suoi vicini mischiando vino forte per ubriacarli e scoprire le loro nudità.	15 Disaster to anyone who makes his neighbours drink, pouring out his poison until they are drunk, sothat he can see them naked!
16 Ti sei saziato d’ignominia, non di gloria. Bevi anche tu, e denùdati mostrando il prepuzio. Si riverserà su di te il calice della destra del Signore e la vergogna sopra il tuo onore,	16 You are ful of shame, not glory! Your turn now to drink and show your foreskin. The cup in Yahweh'sright hand comes round to you, and disgrace wil overshadow your glory.
17 poiché lo scempio fatto al Libano ricadrà su di te e il massacro degli animali ti colmerà di spavento, perché hai versato sangue umano e hai fatto violenza a regioni, alle città e ai loro abitanti.	17 For the violence done to the Lebanon wil overwhelm you and the massacre of animals will terrify you,because of the bloodshed and violence done to the country, to the city and to al who live in it. Disaster toanyone who says to the log, 'Wake up!', to the dumb stone, 'On your feet!' (This is the prophecy!) Look, he isencased in gold and silver, -but not a breath of life inside it!
18 A che giova un idolo scolpito da un artista? O una statua fusa o un oracolo falso? L’artista confida nella propria opera, sebbene scolpisca idoli muti.	18 What use is a sculpted image that a sculptor should make it? - a metal image, a lying instructor! Andwhy does the image-maker put his trust in it, that he should make dumb idols?
19 Guai a chi dice al legno: «Svégliati», e alla pietra muta: «Àlzati». Può essa dare un oracolo? Ecco, è ricoperta d’oro e d’argento, ma dentro non c’è soffio vitale.	19
20 Ma il Signore sta nel suo tempio santo. Taccia, davanti a lui, tutta la terra!	20 But Yahweh is in his holy Temple: let the whole earth be silent before him.
