Levitico 26

1 Non vi farete idoli, né vi erigerete immagini scolpite o stele, né permetterete che nella vostra terra vi sia pietra ornata di figure, per prostrarvi davanti ad essa; poiché io sono il Signore, vostro Dio.	1 "Do not make false gods for yourselves. You shall not erect an idol or a sacred pillar for yourselves, nor shall you set up a stone figure for worship in your land; for I, the LORD, am your God.
2 Osserverete i miei sabati e porterete rispetto al mio santuario. Io sono il Signore.	2 Keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary. I am the LORD.
3 Se seguirete le mie leggi, se osserverete i miei comandi e li metterete in pratica,	3 "If you live in accordance with my precepts and are careful to observe my commandments,
4 io vi darò le piogge al loro tempo, la terra darà prodotti e gli alberi della campagna daranno frutti.	4 I will give you rain in due season, so that the land will bear its crops, and the trees their fruit;
5 La trebbiatura durerà per voi fino alla vendemmia e la vendemmia durerà fino alla semina; mangerete il vostro pane a sazietà e abiterete al sicuro nella vostra terra.	5 your threshing will last till vintage time, and your vintage till the time for sowing, and you will have food to eat in abundance, so that you may dwell securely in your land.
6 Io stabilirò la pace nella terra e, quando vi coricherete, nulla vi turberà. Farò sparire dalla terra le bestie nocive e la spada non passerà sui vostri territori.	6 I will establish peace in the land, that you may lie down to rest without anxiety. I will rid the country of ravenous beasts, and keep the sword of war from sweeping across your land.
7 Voi inseguirete i vostri nemici ed essi cadranno dinanzi a voi colpiti di spada.	7 You will rout your enemies and lay them low with your sword.
8 Cinque di voi ne inseguiranno cento, cento di voi ne inseguiranno diecimila e i vostri nemici cadranno dinanzi a voi colpiti di spada.	8 Five of you will put a hundred of your foes to flight, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand of them, till they are cut down by your sword.
9 Io mi volgerò a voi, vi renderò fecondi e vi moltiplicherò e confermerò la mia alleanza con voi.	9 I will look with favor upon you, and make you fruitful and numerous, as I carry out my covenant with you.
10 Voi mangerete del vecchio raccolto, serbato a lungo, e dovrete disfarvi del raccolto vecchio per far posto al nuovo.	10 So much of the old crops will you have stored up for food that you will have to discard them to make room for the new.
11 Stabilirò la mia dimora in mezzo a voi e non vi respingerò.	11 I will set my Dwelling among you, and will not disdain you.
12 Camminerò in mezzo a voi, sarò vostro Dio e voi sarete mio popolo.	12 Ever present in your midst, I will be your God, and you will be my people;
13 Io sono il Signore, vostro Dio, che vi ho fatto uscire dalla terra d’Egitto, perché non foste più loro schiavi; ho spezzato il vostro giogo e vi ho fatto camminare a testa alta.	13 for it is I, the LORD, your God, who brought you out of the land of the Egyptians and freed you from their slavery, breaking the yoke they had laid upon you and letting you walk erect.
14 Ma se non mi darete ascolto e se non metterete in pratica tutti questi comandi,	14 "But if you do not heed me and do not keep all these commandments,
15 se disprezzerete le mie leggi e rigetterete le mie prescrizioni, non mettendo in pratica tutti i miei comandi e infrangendo la mia alleanza,	15 if you reject my precepts and spurn my decrees, refusing to obey all my commandments and breaking my covenant,
16 ecco come io vi tratterò: manderò contro di voi il terrore, la consunzione e la febbre, che vi faranno languire gli occhi e vi consumeranno la vita. Seminerete invano le vostre sementi: le mangeranno i vostri nemici.	16 then I, in turn, will give you your deserts. I will punish you with terrible woes--with wasting and fever to dim the eyes and sap the life. You will sow your seed in vain, for your enemies will consume the crop.
17 Volgerò il mio volto contro di voi e voi sarete sconfitti dai nemici; quelli che vi odiano vi opprimeranno e vi darete alla fuga, senza che alcuno vi insegua.	17 I will turn against you, till you are beaten down before your enemies and lorded over by your foes. You will take to flight though no one pursues you.
18 Se nemmeno a questo punto mi darete ascolto, io vi castigherò sette volte di più per i vostri peccati.	18 "If even after this you do not obey me, I will increase the chastisement for your sins sevenfold,
19 Spezzerò la vostra forza superba, renderò il vostro cielo come ferro e la vostra terra come bronzo.	19 to break your haughty confidence. I will make the sky above you as hard as iron, and your soil as hard as bronze,
20 Le vostre energie si consumeranno invano, poiché la vostra terra non darà prodotti e gli alberi della campagna non daranno frutti.	20 so that your strength will be spent in vain; your land will bear no crops, and its trees no fruit.
21 Se vi opporrete a me e non mi vorrete ascoltare, io vi colpirò sette volte di più, secondo i vostri peccati.	21 "If then you become defiant in your unwillingness to obey me, I will multiply my blows another sevenfold, as your sins deserve.
22 Manderò contro di voi le bestie selvatiche, che vi rapiranno i figli, stermineranno il vostro bestiame, vi ridurranno a un piccolo numero e le vostre strade diventeranno deserte.	22 I will unleash the wild beasts against you, to rob you of your children and wipe out your livestock, till your population dwindles away and your roads become deserted.
23 Se, nonostante questi castighi, non vorrete correggervi per tornare a me, ma vi opporrete a me,	23 "If, with all this, you still refuse to be chastened by me and continue to defy me,
24 anch’io mi opporrò a voi e vi colpirò sette volte di più per i vostri peccati.	24 I, too, will defy you and will smite you for your sins seven times harder than before.
25 Manderò contro di voi la spada, vindice della mia alleanza; voi vi raccoglierete nelle vostre città, ma io manderò in mezzo a voi la peste e sarete dati in mano al nemico.	25 I will make the sword, the avenger of my covenant, sweep over you. Though you then huddle together in your walled cities, I will send in pestilence among you, till you are forced to surrender to the enemy.
26 Quando io avrò tolto il sostegno del pane, dieci donne faranno cuocere il vostro pane in uno stesso forno e il pane che esse porteranno sarà razionato: mangerete, ma non vi sazierete.	26 And as I cut off your supply of bread, ten women will need but one oven for baking all the bread they dole out to you in rations--not enough food to still your hunger.
27 Se, nonostante tutto questo, non vorrete darmi ascolto, ma vi opporrete a me,	27 "If, despite all this, you still persist in disobeying and defying me,
28 anch’io mi opporrò a voi con furore e vi castigherò sette volte di più per i vostri peccati.	28 I, also, will meet you with fiery defiance and will chastise you with sevenfold fiercer punishment for your sins,
29 Mangerete perfino la carne dei vostri figli e mangerete la carne delle vostre figlie.	29 till you begin to eat the flesh of your own sons and daughters.
30 Devasterò le vostre alture, distruggerò i vostri altari per l’incenso, butterò i vostri cadaveri sui cadaveri dei vostri idoli e vi detesterò.	30 I will demolish your high places, overthrow your incense stands, and cast your corpses on those of your idols. In my abhorrence of you,
31 Ridurrò le vostre città a deserti, devasterò i vostri santuari e non aspirerò più il profumo dei vostri incensi.	31 I will lay waste your cities and devastate your sanctuaries, refusing to accept your sweet-smelling offerings.
32 Devasterò io stesso la terra, e i vostri nemici, che vi prenderanno dimora, ne saranno stupefatti.	32 So devastated will I leave the land that your very enemies who come to live there will stand aghast at the sight of it.
33 Quanto a voi, vi disperderò fra le nazioni e sguainerò la spada dietro di voi; la vostra terra sarà desolata e le vostre città saranno deserte.	33 You yourselves I will scatter among the nations at the point of my drawn sword, leaving your countryside desolate and your cities deserted.
34 Allora la terra godrà i suoi sabati per tutto il tempo della desolazione, mentre voi resterete nella terra dei vostri nemici; allora la terra si riposerà e si compenserà dei suoi sabati.	34 Then shall the land retrieve its lost sabbaths during all the time it lies waste, while you are in the land of your enemies; then shall the land have rest and make up for its sabbaths
35 Finché rimarrà desolata, avrà il riposo che non le fu concesso da voi con i sabati, quando l’abitavate.	35 during all the time that it lies desolate, enjoying the rest that you would not let it have on the sabbaths when you lived there.
36 A quelli che tra voi saranno superstiti infonderò nel cuore costernazione nei territori dei loro nemici: il fruscìo di una foglia agitata li metterà in fuga; fuggiranno come si fugge di fronte alla spada e cadranno senza che alcuno li insegua.	36 "Those of you who survive in the lands of their enemies I will make so fainthearted that, if leaves rustle behind them, they will flee headlong, as if from the sword, though no one pursues them;
37 Cadranno uno sopra l’altro come di fronte alla spada, senza che alcuno li insegua. Non potrete resistere dinanzi ai vostri nemici.	37 stumbling over one another as if to escape a weapon, while no one is after them--so helpless will you be to take a stand against your foes!
38 Perirete fra le nazioni: la terra dei vostri nemici vi divorerà.	38 You will be lost among the Gentiles, swallowed up in your enemies' country.
39 Quelli che tra voi saranno superstiti si consumeranno a causa delle proprie colpe nei territori dei loro nemici; anche a causa delle colpe dei loro padri periranno con loro.	39 Those of you who survive in the lands of their enemies will waste away for their own and their fathers' guilt.
40 Dovranno confessare la loro colpa e la colpa dei loro padri: per essere stati infedeli nei miei riguardi ed essersi opposti a me;	40 "Thus they will have to confess that they and their fathers were guilty of having rebelled against me and of having defied me,
41 perciò anch’io mi sono opposto a loro e li ho deportati nella terra dei loro nemici. Allora il loro cuore non circonciso si umilierà e sconteranno la loro colpa.	41 so that I, too, had to defy them and bring them into their enemies' land. Then, when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they make amends for their guilt,
42 E io mi ricorderò della mia alleanza con Giacobbe, dell’alleanza con Isacco e dell’alleanza con Abramo, e mi ricorderò della terra.	42 I will remember my covenant with Jacob, my covenant with Isaac, and my covenant with Abraham; and of the land, too, I will be mindful.
43 Quando dunque la terra sarà abbandonata da loro e godrà i suoi sabati, mentre rimarrà deserta, senza di loro, essi sconteranno la loro colpa, per avere disprezzato le mie prescrizioni ed essersi stancati delle mie leggi.	43 But the land must first be rid of them, that in its desolation it may make up its lost sabbaths, and that they, too, may make good the debt of their guilt for having spurned my precepts and abhorred my statutes.
44 Nonostante tutto questo, quando saranno nella terra dei loro nemici, io non li rigetterò e non mi stancherò di loro fino al punto di annientarli del tutto e di rompere la mia alleanza con loro, poiché io sono il Signore, loro Dio;	44 Yet even so, even while they are in their enemies' land, I will not reject or spurn them, lest, by wiping them out, I make void my covenant with them; for I, the LORD, am their God.
45 ma mi ricorderò in loro favore dell’alleanza con i loro antenati, che ho fatto uscire dalla terra d’Egitto davanti alle nazioni, per essere loro Dio. Io sono il Signore”».	45 I will remember them because of the covenant I made with their forefathers, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt under the very eyes of the Gentiles, that I, the LORD, might be their God."
46 Questi sono gli statuti, le prescrizioni e le leggi che il Signore stabilì fra sé e gli Israeliti, sul monte Sinai, per mezzo di Mosè.	46 These are the precepts, decrees and laws which the LORD had Moses promulgate on Mount Sinai in the pact between himself and the Israelites.
