1 La porzione che toccò in sorte alla tribù dei figli di Giuda, secondo le loro famiglie, si trova ai confini di Edom, dal deserto di Sin verso il Negheb, all'estremo sud.	1 The lot for the tribe of the people of Judah according to their families reached southward to the boundary of Edom, to the wilderness of Zin at the farthest south.
2 Il loro confine a mezzogiorno cominciava alla parte estrema del Mar Morto, dalla punta rivolta verso mezzodì,	2 And their south boundary ran from the end of the Salt Sea, from the bay that faces southward;
3 poi procedeva a sud della salita di Akrabbim, passava per Sin e risaliva a sud di Kades-Barnea; passava poi da Chezron, saliva ad Addar e girava verso Karkaa;	3 it goes out southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, passes along to Zin, and goes up south of Kadesh-barnea, along by Hezron, up to Addar, turns about to Karka,
4 passava poi da Azmon e raggiungeva il torrente d'Egitto e faceva capo al mare. Questo sarà il vostro confine meridionale.	4 passes along to Azmon, goes out by the Brook of Egypt, and comes to its end at the sea. This shall be your south boundary.

8 Saliva poi la valle di Ben-Innom a sud del fianco dei Gebusei, cioè di Gerusalemme; poi il confine saliva sulla vetta della montagna che domina la valle di Innom ad ovest ed è alla estremità della pianura dei Refaim, al nord.	8 then the boundary goes up by the valley of the son of Hinnom at the southern shoulder of the Jebusite (that is, Jerusalem); and the boundary goes up to the top of the mountain that lies over against the valley of Hinnom, on the west, at the northern end of the valley of Rephaim;
9 Poi il confine piegava dalla vetta della montagna verso la fonte delle Acque di Neftoach e usciva al monte Efron; piegava poi verso Baala, che è Kiriat-Iearim.	9 then the boundary extends from the top of the mountain to the spring of the Waters of Nephtoah, and from there to the cities of Mount Ephron; then the boundary bends round to Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim);

11 Poi il confine raggiungeva il pendio settentrionale di Ekron, quindi piegava verso Siccaron, passava per il monte Baala, raggiungeva Iabneel e terminava al mare.	11 the boundary goes out to the shoulder of the hill north of Ekron, then the boundary bends round to Shikkeron, and passes along to Mount Baalah, and goes out to Jabneel; then the boundary comes to an end at the sea.
12 La frontiera occidentale era il Mar Mediterraneo. Questo era da tutti i lati il confine dei figli di Giuda, secondo le loro famiglie.	12 And the west boundary was the Great Sea with its coast-line. This is the boundary round about the people of Judah according to their families.
13 A Caleb figlio di Iefunne fu data una parte in mezzo ai figli di Giuda, secondo l'ordine del Signore a Giosuè: fu data Kiriat-Arba, padre di Anak, cioè Ebron.	13 According to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, he gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh a portion among the people of Judah, Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron (Arba was the father of Anak).
14 Caleb scacciò di là i tre figli di Anak, Sesai, Achiman e Talmai, discendenti di Anak.	14 And Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak, Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, the descendants of Anak.
15 Di là passò ad assalire gli abitanti di Debir. Si chiamava Debir Kiriat-Sefer.	15 And he went up from there against the inhabitants of Debir; now the name of Debir formerly was Kiriath-sepher.
16 Disse allora Caleb: "A chi colpirà Kiriat-Sefer e se ne impadronirà, io darò in moglie Acsa, mia figlia".	16 And Caleb said, "Whoever smites Kiriath-sepher, and takes it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife."
17 Se ne impadronì Otniel, figlio di Kenaz, fratello di Caleb; a lui diede in moglie sua figlia Acsa.	17 And Othni-el the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it; and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.
18 Quand'essa arrivò presso il marito, questi la persuase a chiedere un campo al padre. Allora essa smontò dall'asino e Caleb le disse: "Che fai?".	18 When she came to him, she urged him to ask her father for a field; and she alighted from her ass, and Caleb said to her, "What do you wish?"
19 Gli disse: "Concedimi un favore. Poiché tu mi hai dato il paese del Negheb, dammi anche alcune sorgenti d'acqua". Le diede allora la sorgente superiore e la sorgente inferiore.	19 She said to him, "Give me a present; since you have set me in the land of the Negeb, give me also springs of water."
