1 La porzione che toccò in sorte alla tribù dei figli di Giuda, secondo le loro famiglie, si trova ai confini di Edom, dal deserto di Sin verso il Negheb, all'estremo sud.	1 The portion falling to the tribe of the sons of Judah, by clans, was near the frontier of Edom, from thedesert of Zin southwards to Kadesh in the south.
2 Il loro confine a mezzogiorno cominciava alla parte estrema del Mar Morto, dalla punta rivolta verso mezzodì,	2 Their southern frontier began at the tip of the Salt Sea, at the southerly bay;
3 poi procedeva a sud della salita di Akrabbim, passava per Sin e risaliva a sud di Kades-Barnea; passava poi da Chezron, saliva ad Addar e girava verso Karkaa;	3 it proceeded south of the Ascent of Scorpions, crossed Zin and came up to Kadesh-Barnea from thesouth; past Hezron, it went on to Addar and turned towards Karka;
4 passava poi da Azmon e raggiungeva il torrente d'Egitto e faceva capo al mare. Questo sarà il vostro confine meridionale.	4 the frontier then went on to Azmon, came out at the Torrent of Egypt and reached as far as the sea.This is to be your southern frontier.
5 A oriente il confine era costituito dal Mar Morto fino alla foce del Giordano. Dal lato settentrionale il confine partiva dalla lingua di mare presso la foce del Giordano,	5 The eastern frontier was the Salt Sea as far as the mouth of the Jordan.
6 saliva a Bet-Ogla e passava a nord di Bet-Araba e saliva alla Pietra di Bocan, figlio di Ruben.	6 The northern boundary began at the bay at the mouth of the Jordan. The boundary went up to Beth-Hoglah, passed north of Beth-ha-Arabah and went on to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.
7 Poi il confine saliva a Debir, per la valle di Acor e, a nord, girava verso le curve, che sono di fronte alla salita di Adummin, a mezzogiorno del torrente; passava poi alle acque di En-Semes e faceva capo a En-Roghel.	7 The boundary then went on to Debir from the Vale of Achor and turned north towards the stone circleopposite the Ascent of Adummim, which is south of the Torrent; the boundary went on to the Waters of En-Shemesh and came out at En-Rogel.
8 Saliva poi la valle di Ben-Innom a sud del fianco dei Gebusei, cioè di Gerusalemme; poi il confine saliva sulla vetta della montagna che domina la valle di Innom ad ovest ed è alla estremità della pianura dei Refaim, al nord.	8 It then went back up the Val ey of Hinnom, coming from the south to the flank of the Jebusite -- that is,Jerusalem -- and climbed to the crest of the mountain barring the Valley of Hinnom to the west, at the northernend of the Val ey of the Rephaim.
9 Poi il confine piegava dalla vetta della montagna verso la fonte delle Acque di Neftoach e usciva al monte Efron; piegava poi verso Baala, che è Kiriat-Iearim.	9 From the mountain top, the boundary curved round to the spring of the Waters of Nephtoah, went on tothe towns of Mount Ephron and then turned towards Baalah -- that is, Kiriath-Jearim.
10 Indi il confine girava da Baala, ad occidente, verso il monte Seir, passava sul pendio settentrionale del monte Iearim, cioè Chesalon, scendeva a Bet-Semes e passava a Timna.	10 From Baalah, the boundary curved westwards to the highlands of Seir, skirted the northern slope ofMount Jearim -- that is, Chesalon -- went down to Beth-Shemesh and through Timnah,
11 Poi il confine raggiungeva il pendio settentrionale di Ekron, quindi piegava verso Siccaron, passava per il monte Baala, raggiungeva Iabneel e terminava al mare.	11 came out on the northern flank of Ekron, turned towards Shikkeron and, passing through thehighlands of Baalah, came out at Jabneel, and reached as far as the sea.
12 La frontiera occidentale era il Mar Mediterraneo. Questo era da tutti i lati il confine dei figli di Giuda, secondo le loro famiglie.	12 The western boundary was the Great Sea itself. Such was the frontier surrounding the sons of Judah,by clans.

14 Caleb scacciò di là i tre figli di Anak, Sesai, Achiman e Talmai, discendenti di Anak.	14 Caleb drove out the three sons of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai, descended from Anak.
15 Di là passò ad assalire gli abitanti di Debir. Si chiamava Debir Kiriat-Sefer.	15 From there he marched on the inhabitants of Debir; Debir in olden days was cal ed Kiriath-Sepher.
16 Disse allora Caleb: "A chi colpirà Kiriat-Sefer e se ne impadronirà, io darò in moglie Acsa, mia figlia".	16 Caleb then said, 'To the man who attacks and takes Kiriath-Sepher, I shal give my daughter Achsahas wife.'
17 Se ne impadronì Otniel, figlio di Kenaz, fratello di Caleb; a lui diede in moglie sua figlia Acsa.	17 The man who captured it was Othniel son of Kenaz, brother of Caleb, who gave him his daughterAchsah as wife.
18 Quand'essa arrivò presso il marito, questi la persuase a chiedere un campo al padre. Allora essa smontò dall'asino e Caleb le disse: "Che fai?".	18 When she arrived, he urged her to ask her father for arable land, but when she alighted from thedonkey and Caleb asked her, 'What is the matter?'
