| 1 Chiunque crede che Gesù è il Cristo, è certo generato da Dio; e chiunque ama colui che generò, ama anche il generato da lui. | 1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. |
| 2 Conosciamo d’amare i figliuoli di Dio, quando amiamo Iddio ed eseguiamo i suoi comandamenti. | 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. |
| 3 Questo è appunto l’amore di Dio: osservare i suoi comandamenti. Comandamenti che non sono gravosi, | 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. |
| 4 perché chiunque è generato da Dio sa vincere chi mondo e la vittoria che vinse il mondo è la nostra fede. | 4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. |
| 5 Chi è mai il vincitore del mondo, se non chi crede che Gesù è il Figlio di Dio? | 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? |
| 6 Questi è colui che venne con acqua e sangue: Gesù Cristo; non con l’acqua soltanto, ma con l’acqua e col sangue. È lo Spirito che ne rende testimonianza, poiché lo Spirito è la verità. | 6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. |
| 7 Son dunque tre i testimoni: | 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. |
| 8 lo Spirito e l’acqua e il sangue, e i tre sono in unità. | 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. |
| 9 Se accettiamo la testimonianza degli uomini, la testimonianza di Dio è più grande. Infatti tale è la testimonianza di Dio, l’aver testimoniato riguardo al Figlio suo. | 9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. |
| 10 Chi crede nel Figlio di Dio, ha tale testimonianza dentro di sé. Invece chi non crede a Dio, fa di lui un mentitore, perché non ha prestato fede alla testimonianza che Iddio ha reso al Figlio suo. | 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. |
| 11 Ed ecco questa testimonianza: Iddio ci donò la vita eterna e questa vita è nel Figlio suo. | 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
| 12 Chi ha il Figlio ha la vita; chi non ha il Figlio di Dio, non ha la vita. | 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. |
| 13 Queste cose vi scrissi, affinché sappiate d’aver la vita eterna, voi che credete nel nome del Figlio di Dio. | 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. |
| 14 Dinanzi a lui è questa la sicurezza che noi abbiamo: che se chiediamo qualcosa conforme alla volontà sua, ci esaudisce. | 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: |
| 15 E se sappiamo che ci concede qualunque cosa si chieda, sappiamo di avere già da lui quanto abbiamo richiesto. | 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. |
| 16 Se uno vede il fratello suo commettere un peccato non per la morte preghi, e darà la vita a lui che commise tale peccato. Ma c’è pure un peccato per la morte: non per questo dico di pregare. | 16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. |
| 17 Tuttavia, se ogni ingiustizia è peccato, c'è anche un peccato non per la morte. | 17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. |
| 18 Sappiamo che chiunque è generato da Dio non pecca, ma Colui che fu generato da Dio lo custodisce e il maligno non fa presa su di lui. | 18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. |
| 19 Sappiamo che noi siamo da Dio, mentre il mondo giace tutto in potere del maligno. | 19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. |
| 20 Sappiamo pure che il Figlio di Dio è venuto e ci dato discernimento per cui conosciamo il Vero. E noi siamo nel Vero, nel Figlio suo Gesù Cristo. Questi è il vero Dio e vita eterna. | 20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. |
| 21 Figlioletti, preservatevi dagli idoli! | 21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. |
