| 1 Ora avverrà alla fine degli anni: il monte della casa di Jahvè sarà fondato sulla cima dei monti e si eleverà oltre i colli: a lui affluiranno i popoli, | 1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. |
| 2 verranno genti numerose e diranno: «Orsù, saliamo al monte di Jahvè e alla casa del dio di Giacobbe; egli ci insegni le sue vie e noi camminiamo per i suoi sentieri. Poiché da Sion esce l'ammaestramento e la parola di Jahvè da Gerusalemme. | 2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. |
| 3 Sarà arbitro tra molti popoli e pronuncerà sentenze a nazioni potenti anche lontano. Allora martelleranno le spade in vomeri e le lance in falcetti; nessuna nazione leverà la spada contro un’altra né impareranno più la guerra. | 3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. |
| 4 Ma staranno al sicuro, ciascuno sotto la sua vite e sotto il suo fico;‘senza che nessuno li disturbi. Poiché la bocca di Jahvè degli eserciti ha parlato. | 4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it. |
| 5 Sì, tutti i popoli camminano ciascuno nel nome del suo dio: noi pure camminiamo nel nome di Jahvè, nostro Dio per tutta l’eternità. | 5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever. |
| 6 In quel giorno — oracolo di Jahvè — radunerò colui che zoppica, raccoglierò colui che è fuorviato o che ho trattato, duramente: | 6 In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; |
| 7 di chi zoppica farò una riserva e di quanto è disperso una potente nazione: Jahvè regnerà su di loro, sul monte Sion, da allora per sempre! | 7 And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever. |
| 8 Quanto a te, torre del gregge, colle della figlia di Sion, a te giungerà e verrà il dominio d’un tempo, il regno della figlia di Gerusalemme. | 8 And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem. |
| 9 Ora perché gridi così forte? Non hai tu un re? O forse il tuo consigliere è perito, che ti hanno preso convulsioni come una partoriente? | 9 Now why dost thou cry out aloud? is there no king in thee? is thy counseller perished? for pangs have taken thee as a woman in travail. |
| 10 Contorciti, strilla, gemi, figlia di Sion come una partoriente: poiché ora uscirai dalla città e abiterai in campagna: ( andrai fino a Babilonia, là sarai salvata ), là ti riscatterà Jahvè tuo Dio dalla mano dei tuoi nemici. | 10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies. |
| 11 Ora si uniscono contro di te molti popoli, che dicono: “Rallegriamoci: si compiaccia di Sion il nostro occhio”». | 11 Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion. |
| 12 Ma essi non conoscono i disegni di Jahvè, non intendono la sua decisione; poiché li raccoglie come mannelle sull’aia. | 12 But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor. |
| 13 Levati e trebbia, figlia di Sion, poiché io farò di ferro il tuo corno, farò le tue unghie di bronzo e tu stritolerai molti popoli e consacrerai il loro lucro a Jahvè e le loro ricchezze al Signore di tutta la terra. | 13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth. |
| 14 E ora scalfisciti, povera assalita, hanno posto un argine contro di noi: con la verga colpiscono alla mascella i giudici di Israele. | |
