Amos 6

1 Guai a voi, che in Sion nuotate nell'abbondanza, e a voi, che vivete senza timori sul monte di Samaria; a voi ottimati capi di popoli, che entrate con fasto nelle adunanze di Israele?	1 Woe to the complacent in Zion, to the overconfident on the mount of Samaria, Leaders of a nation favored from the first, to whom the people of Israel have recourse!
2 Andate a Chalanne, e considerate,e di là passate ad Emath la grande, escendete a Geth de' Palestini, e ai regni migliori dipendenti da queste città. Han elleno più spaziosi confini de' vostri?	2 Pass over to Calneh and see, go from there to Hamath the great, and down to Gath of the Philistines! Are you better than these kingdoms, or is your territory wider than theirs?
3 Voi però siete serbati al giorno cattivo, e vi appressate al trono dell'iniquità.	3 You would put off the evil day, yet you hasten the reign of violence!
4 Voi, che dormite in letti d'avorio, e vi sdraiate ne' vostri soffici letti; voi che mangiate gli agnelli più grassi, e i vitelli scelti da tutto l'armento.	4 Lying upon beds of ivory, stretched comfortably on their couches, They eat lambs taken from the flock, and calves from the stall!
5 Voi, che cantate al suono del saltero: egli hanno stimato di avere gli strumenti di musica come Davidde.	5 Improvising to the music of the harp, like David, they devise their own accompaniment.

7 Per questo anderanno adesso alla testa degli altri nella trasmigrazione, e sarà dispersa la combriccola de' lascivi.	7 Therefore, now they shall be the first to go into exile, and their wanton revelry shall be done away with.
8 Il Signore Dio ha giurato per se medesimo, il Signore Dio degli eserciti ha detto: Io detesto la superbia di Giacobbe, e odio i suoi palazzi, e darò in potere di altri la citta co' suoi abitatori:	8 The Lord GOD has sworn by his very self, say I, the LORD, the God of hosts: I abhor the pride of Jacob, I hate his castles, and I give over the city with everything in it;
9 Che se dieci uomini restassero in una casa, periranno anche questi.	9 Should there remain ten men in a single house, these shall die.
10 E un parente li prenderà l'un dopo l'altro, e gli abbrucerà, e porterà fuori della casa le ossa, e dirà a colui, che è nel fondo della casa: l'ha egli ancora qualcheduno con te?	10 Only a few shall be left to carry the dead out of the houses; If one says to a man inside a house, "Is anyone with you?" and he answers, "No one," Then he shall say, "Silence!" for no one must mention the name of the LORD.
11 E quegli risponderà: E finito: e quegli dirà a lui: Taci, e non far menzione del nome del Signore;	11 Indeed, the LORD has given the command to shatter the great house to bits, and reduce the small house to rubble.
12 Perocché ecco che il Signore lo ha decretato, ed ei manderà rovine alla casa grande, e fessure alla casa minore.	12 Can horses run across a cliff? or can one plow the sea with oxen? Yet you have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of justice into wormwood.
13 Posson forse correre i cavalli sulle pietre, o si può egli arare co' bufali? Or voi il giudizio avete cangiato in oppressione, e il frutto della giustizia in assenzio.	13 You rejoice in Lodebar, and say, "Have we not, by our own strength, seized for ourselves Karnaim?"
14 Voi fondate la vostra allegrezza sul nulla, e dite: Non è ella stata la nostra fortezza, che ci ha renduti potenti? Ecco che io, o casa d'Israele, moverò contro di voi una nazione, dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti: e questa vi struggerà dalle gole di Emath fino al torrente del deserto.	14 Beware, I am raising up against you, O house of Israel, say I, the LORD, the God of hosts, A nation that shall oppress you from Labo of Hamath even to the Wadi Arabah.
