Seconda lettera a Timoteo 1

1 - Paolo apostolo di Cristo Gesù per volere di Dio secondo la promessa di vita in Cristo Gesù,	1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God for the promise of life in Christ Jesus,
2 al diletto figlio Timoteo, grazia, misericordia, pace da Dio Padre e da Cristo Gesù nostro Signore.	2 to Timothy, my dear child: grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 Grazie a Dio, al quale servo, come già gli antenati miei, in pura coscienza, io fo sempre, senza tralasciar mai, menzione di te nelle mie preghiere, di notte e di giorno;	3 I am grateful to God, whom I worship with a clear conscienceas my ancestors did, as I remember you constantly in my prayers, night and day.
4 e ricordando le tue lagrime vivamente desidero di vederti per esser ricolmo di gioia;	4 I yearn to see you again, recalling your tears, so that I may be filled with joy,
5 ho presente la sincera fede che è in te, quale prima albergava nella tua nonna Loide e in tua madre Eunice, e son ben persuaso che alberga anche in te.	5 as I recall your sincere faith that first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and that I am confident lives also in you.
6 Per questa ragione ti rammento di ravvivare il carisma di Dio che è in te per l'imposizione delle mie mani.	6 For this reason, I remind you to stir into flame the gift of God that you have through the imposition of my hands.
7 Poichè Iddio ci ha dato non uno spirito di viltà, ma di forza e di amore e di saggezza.	7 For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control.
8 Non ti vergognare dunque di render testimonianza al nostro Signore nè di me incatenato per lui, ma soffri anche tu per il Vangelo, sorretto dalla virtù di Dio;	8 So do not be ashamed of your testimony to our Lord, nor of me, a prisoner for his sake; but bear your share of hardship for the gospel with the strength that comes from God.
9 il quale ci ha salvati e ci ha chiamati con una santa chiamata, non già per le nostre opere, ma secondo il proprio disegno e per la grazia concessa a noi in Cristo Gesù avanti che cominciasse il tempo dei secoli;	9 He saved us and called us to a holy life, not according to our works but according to his own design and the grace bestowed on us in Christ Jesus before time began,
10 grazia manifestata ora per l'apparizione del Salvatore nostro Cristo Gesù, il quale annullò la morte, e alla vita diè luce e immortalità mediante il Vangelo,	10 but now made manifest through the appearance of our savior Christ Jesus, who destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,
11 per il quale io sono stato designato araldo e apostolo e maestro dei Gentili.	11 for which I was appointed preacher and apostle and teacher.
12 È questa la causa per cui io soffro queste cose; ma non me ne vergogno, perchè so in chi ho posto fede, e son convinto che egli ha il potere di conservare il mio deposito fino a quel giorno.	12 On this account I am suffering these things; but I am not ashamed, for I know him in whom I have believed and am confident that he is able to guard what has been entrusted to me until that day.
13 Tu conserva, nella fede e nell'amore in Cristo Gesù, la sostanza delle sane istruzioni che hai ricevuto da me.	13 Take as your norm the sound words that you heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
14 E il bel deposito custodisci per mezzo dello Spirito Santo che abita in noi.	14 Guard this rich trust with the help of the holy Spirit that dwells within us.
15 Tu sai come si sono alienati da me tutti quelli dell'Asia, tra i quali Figello e Ermogene.	15 You know that everyone in Asia deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16 Usi il Signore misericordia alla famiglia di Onesiforo, che spesso mi ha consolato, e della mia prigionia non s'è vergognato,	16 May the Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus because he often gave me new heart and was not ashamed of my chains.
17 ma venuto egli a Roma mi ha con sollecitudine cercato e mi ha trovato, -	17 But when he came to Rome, he promptly searched for me and found me.
18 gli conceda Iddio di trovar misericordia presso il Signore in quel giorno -; e quanti servigi egli mi rese ad Efeso tu lo sai meglio di me.	18 May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day. And you know very well the services he rendered in Ephesus.
