Amos 8

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Il Signore Dio mi fece vedere questo: Ed ecco un cesto di frutti.	1 This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: A basket of ripe fruit.
2 E mi disse: - Che vedi, Amos? - E dissi: - Un cesto di frutti! - E il Signore mi disse: - La fine è giunta per il mio popolo Israele e non transigerò più.	2 'What do you see, Amos?' he asked. 'A basket of ripe fruit,' I said. Then Yahweh said, 'The time is ripefor my people Israel; I wil not continue to overlook their offences.
3 E in quel giorno strideranno i cardini del tempio, dice il Signore Dio, e moriranno molti e ogni luogo piomberà nel silenzio. -	3 That day, the palace songs will turn to howls, -declares the Lord Yahweh- the corpses wil be manythat are thrown down everywhere. Keep silent!'
4 Udite questo, voi che schiacciate il povero e stremate i miseri della terra;	4 Listen to this, you who crush the needy and reduce the oppressed to nothing,
5 voi che andate dicendo: - Quando è che passerà il primo del mese, che possiamo vendere le derrate; e il sabato, che esitiamo il frumento (riducendo la misura e crescendo il peso, sostituendo bilance false,	5 you who say, 'When wil New Moon be over so that we can sel our corn, and Sabbath, so that we canmarket our wheat? Then, we can make the bushel-measure smaller and the shekel-weight bigger, byfraudulently tampering with the scales.
6 comprando col denaro i miseri e i poveri per un paio di sandali) e che negoziamo sugli scarti del grano? -	6 We can buy up the weak for silver and the poor for a pair of sandals, and even get a price for thesweepings of the wheat.'
7 Il Signore ha giurato alla superbia di Giacobbe: - Non dimenticherò mai sino alla fine le loro opere! -	7 Yahweh has sworn by the pride of Jacob, 'Never wil I forget anything they have done.'
8 E sopra questo nome non si scuoterà la terra e non piangeranno tutti i suoi abitanti? L'universo intero si solleverà, come le acque del fiume, e sarà spinto e si riverserà come la fiumana di Egitto.	8 Wil not the earth tremble for this and al who live on it lament, as it al rises together like the Nile inEgypt, it swel s and then subsides like the Egyptian Nile?
9 - E avverrà in quel giorno, dice il Signore, che il sole sparirà in sul mezzogiorno e oscurerò la terra nella piena luce del dì;	9 'On that Day- declares the Lord Yahweh- I shal make the sun go down at noon and darken the earth inbroad daylight.
10 e le vostre feste muterò in lutto e i vostri canti in lamento; e farò indossare a tutti il sacco, e andare tutti a testa rasa; e metterò la nazione a lutto, come in morte del primogenito, e il restante de' suoi giorni, come giorno di amarezza.	10 I shall turn your festivals into mourning and all your singing into lamentation; I shall make you all wearsacking round your waists and have al your heads shaved. I shal make it like the mourning for an only child,and it wil end like the bitterest of days.
11 Ecco che verrà giorno, dice il Signore Dio, e manderò sopra la terra, la fame; fame non di pane, nè sete d'acqua, ma di udire la parola di Dio.	11 'The days are coming- declares the Lord Yahweh- when I shal send a famine on the country, nothunger for food, not thirst for water, but famine for hearing Yahweh's word.
12 E si agiteranno da un mare all'altro mare, e dal settentrione fino all'oriente, s'aggireranno in cerca della parola di Dio e non la troveranno.	12 People wil stagger from sea to sea, will wander from the north to the east, searching for Yahweh'sword, but wil not find it.
13 In quel giorno languiranno di sete le belle vergini e i giovani,	13 'That Day, fine girls and stalwart youths will faint from thirst.
14 che giurano sul delitto di Samaria e che dicono: "Viva il dio di Dan! Viva la strada di Bersabee!". Cadranno e non risorgeranno mai più. -	14 The people who swear by the Sin of Samaria, who say, "Long live your god, Dan!" and "Hurrah for thepilgrimage to Beersheba!" will all fal , never to rise again.'
