BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Noemi aveva un parente del marito, uomo potente e ricco della famiglia di Elimèlech, che si chiamava Booz.	1 Naomi had a kinsman on her husband's side, wel -to-do and of Elimelech's clan. His name was Boaz.
2 Rut, la Moabita, disse a Noemi: "Lasciami andare per la campagna a spigolare dietro a qualcuno agli occhi del quale avrò trovato grazia". Le rispose: "Va', figlia mia".	2 Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, 'Let me go into the fields and glean ears of corn in the footsteps ofsome man who will look on me with favour.' She replied, 'Go, daughter.'
3 Rut andò e si mise a spigolare nella campagna dietro ai mietitori; per caso si trovò nella parte della campagna appartenente a Booz, che era della famiglia di Elimèlech.	3 So she set out and went to glean in the fields behind the reapers. Chance led her to a plot of landbelonging to Boaz of Elimelech's clan.
4 Ed ecco Booz arrivò da Betlemme e disse ai mietitori: "Il Signore sia con voi!". Quelli gli risposero: "Il Signore ti benedica!".	4 Boaz, as it happened, had just come from Bethlehem. 'Yahweh be with you!' he said to the reapers.'Yahweh bless you!' they replied.
5 Booz disse al suo servo, incaricato di sorvegliare i mietitori: "Di chi è questa giovane?".	5 Boaz said to a servant of his who was in charge of the reapers, 'To whom does this young womanbelong?'
6 Il servo incaricato di sorvegliare i mietitori rispose: "È una giovane moabita, quella che è tornata con Noemi dalla campagna di Moab.	6 And the servant in charge of the reapers replied, 'The girl is the Moabitess, the one who came back withNaomi from the Plains of Moab.
7 Ha detto: Vorrei spigolare e raccogliere dietro ai mietitori. È venuta ed è rimasta in piedi da stamattina fino ad ora; solo in questo momento si è un poco seduta nella casa".	7 She said, "Please let me glean and pick up what fal s from the sheaves behind the reapers." Thus shecame, and here she stayed, with hardly a rest from morning until now.'
8 Allora Booz disse a Rut: "Ascolta, figlia mia, non andare a spigolare in un altro campo; non allontanarti di qui, ma rimani con le mie giovani;	8 Boaz said to Ruth, 'Listen to me, daughter. You must not go gleaning in any other field. You must not goaway from here. Stay close to my work-women.
9 tieni d'occhio il campo dove si miete e cammina dietro a loro. Non ho forse ordinato ai miei giovani di non molestarti? Quando avrai sete, va' a bere dagli orci ciò che i giovani avranno attinto".	9 Keep your eyes on whatever part of the field they are reaping and fol ow behind. I have forbidden mymen to molest you. And if you are thirsty, go to the pitchers and drink what the servants have drawn.'
10 Allora Rut si prostrò con la faccia a terra e gli disse: "Per qual motivo ho trovato grazia ai tuoi occhi, così che tu ti interessi di me che sono una straniera?".	10 Ruth fel on her face, prostrated herself and said, 'How have I attracted your favour, for you to noticeme, who am only a foreigner?'
11 Booz le rispose: "Mi è stato riferito quanto hai fatto per tua suocera dopo la morte di tuo marito e come hai abbandonato tuo padre, tua madre e la tua patria per venire presso un popolo, che prima non conoscevi.	11 Boaz replied, 'I have been told al about the way you have behaved to your mother-in-law since yourhusband's death, and how you left your own father and mother and the land where you were born to come to apeople of whom you previously knew nothing.
12 Il Signore ti ripaghi quanto hai fatto e il tuo salario sia pieno da parte del Signore, Dio d'Israele, sotto le cui ali sei venuta a rifugiarti".	12 May Yahweh repay you for what you have done, and may you be richly rewarded by Yahweh, the Godof Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge!'
13 Essa gli disse: "Possa io trovar grazia ai tuoi occhi, o mio signore! Poiché tu mi hai consolata e hai parlato al cuore della tua serva, benché io non sia neppure come una delle tue schiave".	13 She said, 'My lord, I hope you wil always look on me with favour! You have comforted and encouragedme, though I am not even the equal of one of your work-women.'
14 Poi, al momento del pasto, Booz le disse: "Vieni, mangia il pane e intingi il boccone nell'aceto". Essa si pose a sedere accanto ai mietitori. Booz le pose davanti grano abbrustolito; essa ne mangiò a sazietà e ne mise da parte gli avanzi.	14 When it was time to eat, Boaz said to her, 'Come and eat some of this bread and dip your piece in thevinegar.' Ruth sat down beside the reapers and Boaz made a heap of roasted grain for her; she ate til herhunger was satisfied, and she had some left over.
15 Poi si alzò per tornare a spigolare e Booz diede quest'ordine ai suoi servi: "Lasciatela spigolare anche fra i covoni e non le fate affronto;	15 When she had got up to glean, Boaz gave orders to his work-people, 'Let her glean among thesheaves themselves. Do not molest her.
16 anzi lasciate cadere apposta per lei spighe dai mannelli; abbandonatele, perché essa le raccolga, e non sgridatela".	16 And be sure you pull a few ears of corn out of the bundles and drop them. Let her glean them, and donot scold her.'
17 Così essa spigolò nel campo fino alla sera; batté quello che aveva raccolto e ne venne circa una quarantina di chili di orzo.	17 So she gleaned in the field till evening. Then she beat out what she had gleaned and it came to abouta bushel of barley.
18 Se lo caricò addosso, entrò in città e sua suocera vide ciò che essa aveva spigolato. Poi Rut tirò fuori quello che era rimasto del cibo e glielo diede.	18 Taking it with her, she went back to the town. Her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. Ruth alsotook out what she had kept after eating al she wanted, and gave that to her.
19 La suocera le chiese: "Dove hai spigolato oggi? Dove hai lavorato? Benedetto colui che si è interessato di te!". Rut riferì alla suocera presso chi aveva lavorato e disse: "L'uomo presso il quale ho lavorato oggi si chiama Booz".	19 Her mother-in-law said, 'Where have you been gleaning today? Where have you been working?Blessed be the man who took notice of you!' Ruth told her mother-in-law in whose field she had been working.'The name of the man with whom I have been working today', she said, 'is Boaz.'
20 Noemi disse alla nuora: "Sia benedetto dal Signore, che non ha rinunciato alla sua bontà verso i vivi e verso i morti!". Aggiunse: "Questo uomo è nostro parente stretto; è di quelli che hanno su di noi il diritto di riscatto".	20 Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, 'May he be blessed by Yahweh who does not withhold his faithfullove from living or dead! This man', Naomi added, 'is a close relation of ours. He is one of those who have theright of redemption over us.'
21 Rut, la Moabita, disse: "Mi ha anche detto: Rimani insieme ai miei servi, finché abbiano finito tutta la mia mietitura".	21 Ruth the Moabitess said to her mother-in-law, 'He also said, "Stay with my work-people until they havefinished my whole harvest." '
22 Noemi disse a Rut, sua nuora: "È bene, figlia mia, che tu vada con le sue schiave e non ti esponga a sgarberie in un altro campo".	22 Naomi said to Ruth, her daughter-in-law, 'It is better for you, daughter, to go with his work-women thanto go to some other field where you might be il -treated.'
23 Essa rimase dunque con le schiave di Booz, a spigolare, sino alla fine della mietitura dell'orzo e del frumento. Poi abitò con la suocera.	23 So she stayed with Boaz's work-women, and gleaned until the barley and wheat harvests werefinished. And she went on living with her mother-in-law.
