Isaia 59

BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ecco non è troppo corta la mano del Signore da non poter salvare; né tanto duro è il suo orecchio, da non poter udire.	1 No, the arm of Yahweh is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear,
2 Ma le vostre iniquità hanno scavato un abisso fra voi e il vostro Dio; i vostri peccati gli hanno fatto nascondere il suo volto così che non vi ascolta.	2 but your guilty deeds have made a gulf between you and your God. Your sins have made him hide hisface from you so as not to hear you,
3 Le vostre palme sono macchiate di sangue e le vostre dita di iniquità; le vostre labbra proferiscono menzogne, la vostra lingua sussurra perversità.	3 since your hands are stained with blood and your fingers with guilt; your lips utter lies, your tonguesmurmur wickedness.
4 Nessuno muove causa con giustizia, nessuno la discute con lealtà. Si confida nel nulla e si dice il falso, si concepisce la malizia e si genera l'iniquità.	4 No one makes upright accusations or pleads sincerely. Al rely on empty words, utter falsehood,conceive trouble and give birth to evil.
5 Dischiudono uova di serpenti velenosi, tessono tele di ragno; chi mangia quelle uova morirà, e dall'uovo schiacciato esce una vipera.	5 They are hatching adders' eggs and weaving a spider's web; eat one of their eggs and you die, crushone and a viper emerges.
6 Le loro tele non servono per vesti, essi non si possono coprire con i loro manufatti; le loro opere sono opere inique, il frutto di oppressioni è nelle loro mani.	6 Their webs are useless for clothing, their deeds are useless for wearing; their deeds are deeds of guilt,violence fil s their hands.
7 I loro piedi corrono al male, si affrettano a spargere sangue innocente; i loro pensieri sono pensieri iniqui, desolazione e distruzione sono sulle loro strade.	7 Their feet run to do evil; they are quick to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are thoughts of guilt,wherever they go there is havoc and ruin.
8 Non conoscono la via della pace, non c'è giustizia nel loro procedere; rendono tortuosi i loro sentieri, chiunque vi cammina non conosce la pace.	8 They do not know the way of peace, there is no fair judgement in their course, they have made theirown crooked paths, and no one treading them knows any peace.
9 Per questo il diritto si è allontanato da noi e non ci raggiunge la giustizia. Speravamo la luce ed ecco le tenebre, lo splendore, ma dobbiamo camminare nel buio.	9 Thus fair judgement is remote from us nor can uprightness overtake us. We looked for light and all isdarkness, for brightness and we walk in gloom.
10 Tastiamo come ciechi la parete, come privi di occhi camminiamo a tastoni; inciampiamo a mezzogiorno come al crepuscolo; tra i vivi e vegeti siamo come i morti.	10 Like the blind we feel our way along walls, we grope our way like people without eyes. We stumble asthough noon were twilight, among the robust we are like the dead.
11 Noi tutti urliamo come orsi, andiamo gemendo come colombe; speravamo nel diritto ma non c'è, nella salvezza ma essa è lontana da noi.	11 We growl, al of us, like bears, like doves we make no sound but moaning, waiting for the fairjudgement that never comes, for salvation, but that is far away.
12 Poiché sono molti davanti a te i nostri delitti, i nostri peccati testimoniano contro di noi; poiché i nostri delitti ci stanno davanti e noi conosciamo le nostre iniquità:	12 How often we have rebel ed against you and our sins bear witness against us. Our rebellious acts areindeed with us, we are wel aware of our guilt:
13 prevaricare e rinnegare il Signore, cessare di seguire il nostro Dio, parlare di oppressione e di ribellione, concepire con il cuore e pronunciare parole false.	13 rebel ion and denial of Yahweh, turning our back on our God, talking violence and revolt, murmuringlies in our heart.
14 Così è trascurato il diritto e la giustizia se ne sta lontana, la verità incespica in piazza, la rettitudine non può entrarvi.	14 Fair judgement is driven away and saving justice stands aloof, for good faith has stumbled in thestreet and sincerity cannot enter.
15 Così la verità è abbandonata, chi disapprova il male viene spogliato. Ha visto questo il Signore ed è male ai suoi occhi che non ci sia più diritto.	15 Good faith has vanished; anyone abstaining from evil is victimised. Yahweh saw this and wasdispleased that there was no fair judgement.
16 Egli ha visto che non c'era alcuno, si è meravigliato perché nessuno intercedeva. Ma lo ha soccorso il suo braccio, la sua giustizia lo ha sostenuto.	16 He saw there was no one and wondered there was no one to intervene. So he made his own arm hismainstay, his own saving justice his support.
17 Egli si è rivestito di giustizia come di una corazza, e sul suo capo ha posto l'elmo della salvezza. Ha indossato le vesti della vendetta, si è avvolto di zelo come di un manto.	17 He put on saving justice like a breastplate, on his head the helmet of salvation. He put on the clothesof vengeance like a tunic and wrapped himself in jealousy like a cloak.
18 Il retributore ripagherà le azioni come si deve: con sdegno ai suoi avversari, con vergogna ai suoi nemici.	18 To each he repays his due, retribution to his enemies, reprisals on his foes, to the coasts and islandshe wil repay their due.
19 In occidente vedranno il nome del Signore e in oriente la sua gloria, perché egli verrà come un fiume irruente, sospinto dal vento del Signore.	19 From the west, Yahweh's name wil be feared, and from the east, his glory, for he will come like apent-up stream impel ed by the breath of Yahweh.
20 Come redentore verrà per Sion, per quelli di Giacobbe convertiti dall'apostasia. Oracolo del Signore.	20 Then for Zion wil come a redeemer, for those who stop rebel ing in Jacob, declares Yahweh.
21 Quanto a me, ecco la mia alleanza con essi, dice il Signore: Il mio spirito che è sopra di te e le parole che ti ho messo in bocca non si allontaneranno dalla tua bocca né dalla bocca della tua discendenza né dalla bocca dei discendenti dei discendenti, dice il Signore, ora e sempre.	21 'For my part, this is my covenant with them, says Yahweh. My spirit with which I endowed you, andmy words that I have put in your mouth, wil not leave your mouth, or the mouths of your children, or the mouthsof your children's children, says Yahweh, henceforth and for ever.'
