BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il Signore infatti avrà pietà di Giacobbe e si sceglierà ancora Israele e li ristabilirà nel loro paese. A loro si uniranno gli stranieri, che saranno incorporati nella casa di Giacobbe.	1 Yahweh wil have pity on Jacob, he wil choose Israel once more and resettle them on their native soil.Foreigners will join them, attaching themselves to the House of Jacob.
2 I popoli li accoglieranno e li ricondurranno nel loro paese e se ne impossesserà la casa di Israele nel paese del Signore come schiavi e schiave; così faranno prigionieri coloro che li avevano resi schiavi e domineranno i loro avversari.	2 Peoples wil take them and escort them home, and the House of Israel wil take them as slaves, menand women on Yahweh's soil. They wil enslave those who enslaved them and wil master their oppressors.
3 In quel giorno il Signore ti libererà dalle tue pene e dal tuo affanno e dalla dura schiavitù con la quale eri stato asservito.	3 When that day comes, and Yahweh gives you rest from your suffering and torment and the grimservitude to which you have been subjected,
4 Allora intonerai questa canzone sul re di Babilonia e dirai: "Ah, come è finito l'aguzzino, è finita l'arroganza!	4 you wil recite this satire on the king of Babylon and say: 'How did the tyrant end? How did hisarrogance end?
5 Il Signore ha spezzato la verga degli iniqui, il bastone dei dominatori,	5 Yahweh has broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of rulers,
6 di colui che percuoteva i popoli nel suo furore, con colpi senza fine, che dominava con furia le genti con una tirannia senza respiro.	6 furiously lashing peoples with continual blows, angrily hammering nations, pursuing without respite.
7 Riposa ora tranquilla tutta la terra ed erompe in grida di gioia.	7 The whole world is at rest and calm, shouts of joy resounding,
8 Persino i cipressi gioiscono riguardo a te e anche i cedri del Libano: Da quando tu sei prostrato, non salgono più i tagliaboschi contro di noi.	8 the cypresses, the cedars of Lebanon, rejoice aloud at your fate, "Now that you have been laid low, noone comes up to fell us."
9 Gli inferi di sotto si agitano per te, per venirti incontro al tuo arrivo; per te essi svegliano le ombre, tutti i dominatori della terra, e fanno sorgere dai loro troni tutti i re delle nazioni.	9 'On your account, Sheol below is astir to greet your arrival. He has roused the ghosts to greet you, althe rulers of the world. He has made al the kings of the nations get up from their thrones.
10 Tutti prendono la parola per dirti: Anche tu sei stato abbattuto come noi, sei diventato uguale a noi.	10 They will all greet you with the words, "So, you too are now as weak as we are! You, too, havebecome like us.
11 Negli inferi è precipitato il tuo fasto, la musica delle tue arpe; sotto di te v'è uno strato di marciume, tua coltre sono i vermi.	11 Your pride has been flung down to Sheol with the music of your lyres; under you a mattress ofmaggots, over you a blanket of worms.
12 Come mai sei caduto dal cielo, Lucifero, figlio dell'aurora? Come mai sei stato steso a terra, signore di popoli?	12 How did you come to fal from the heavens, Daystar, son of Dawn? How did you come to be thrown tothe ground, conqueror of nations?
13 Eppure tu pensavi: Salirò in cielo, sulle stelle di Dio innalzerò il trono, dimorerò sul monte dell'assemblea, nelle parti più remote del settentrione.	13 You who used to think to yourself: I shal scale the heavens; higher than the stars of God I shall setmy throne. I shal sit on the Mount of Assembly far away to the north.
14 Salirò sulle regioni superiori delle nubi, mi farò uguale all'Altissimo.	14 I shal climb high above the clouds, I shal rival the Most High."
15 E invece sei stato precipitato negli inferi, nelle profondità dell'abisso!	15 Now you have been flung down to Sheol, into the depths of the abyss!
16 Quanti ti vedono ti guardano fisso, ti osservano attentamente. È questo l'individuo che sconvolgeva la terra, che faceva tremare i regni,	16 'When they see you, they will scrutinise you and consider what you have become, "Is this the manwho made the world tremble, who overthrew kingdoms?
17 che riduceva il mondo a un deserto, che ne distruggeva le città, che non apriva ai suoi prigionieri la prigione?	17 He made the world a desert, he level ed cities and never freed his prisoners to go home."
18 Tutti i re dei popoli, tutti riposano con onore, ognuno nella sua tomba.	18 Al other kings of nations, al of them, lie honourably, each in his own tomb;
19 Tu, invece, sei stato gettato fuori del tuo sepolcro, come un virgulto spregevole; sei circondato da uccisi trafitti da spada, come una carogna calpestata. A coloro che sono scesi in una tomba di pietre	19 but you have been thrown away, unburied, like a loathsome branch, covered with heaps of the slainpierced by the sword who fal on the rocks of the abyss like trampled carrion.
20 tu non sarai unito nella sepoltura, perché hai rovinato il tuo paese, hai assassinato il tuo popolo;non sarà più nominata la discendenza dell'iniquo.	20 'You wil not rejoin them in the grave, for you have brought your country to ruin and destroyed yourpeople. The offspring of the wicked leave no name behind them.
21 Preparate il massacro dei suoi figli a causa dell'iniquità del loro padre e non sorgano più a conquistare la terra e a riempire il mondo di rovine".	21 Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their father! Never again must they rise to conquer theworld and cover the face of the earth with their cities.
22 Io insorgerò contro di loro - parola del Signore degli eserciti -, sterminerò il nome di Babilonia e il resto, la prole e la stirpe - oracolo del Signore -.	22 'I wil rise against them, declares Yahweh Sabaoth, and deprive Babylon of name, remnant, offspringand posterity, declares Yahweh.
23 Io la ridurrò a dominio dei ricci, a palude stagnante; la scoperò con la scopa della distruzione - oracolo del Signore degli eserciti -.	23 I shal turn it into the haunt of hedgehogs, a swamp. I shal sweep it with the broom of destruction,declares Yahweh Sabaoth.'
24 Il Signore degli eserciti ha giurato: "In verità come ho pensato, accadrà e succederà come ho deciso.	24 Yahweh Sabaoth has sworn it, 'Yes, what I have planned wil take place, what I have decided will beso:
25 Io spezzerò l'Assiro nella mia terra e sui miei monti lo calpesterò. Allora sparirà da loro il suo giogo, il suo peso dalle loro spalle".	25 'I shal break Assyria in my country, I shal trample on him on my mountains. Then his yoke wil slip offthem, his burden wil slip from their shoulders.'
26 Questa è la decisione presa per tutta la terra e questa è la mano stesa su tutte le genti.	26 This is the decision taken in defiance of the whole world; this, the hand outstretched in defiance of alnations.
27 Poiché il Signore degli eserciti lo ha deciso; chi potrà renderlo vano? La sua mano è stesa, chi gliela farà ritirare?	27 Once Yahweh Sabaoth has decided, who wil stop him? Once he stretches out his hand, who canwithdraw it?
28 Nell'anno in cui morì il re Acaz fu comunicato questo oracolo:	28 In the year Ahaz died came this proclamation:
29 "Non gioire, Filistea tutta, perché si è spezzata la verga di chi ti percuoteva. Poiché dalla radice del serpe uscirà una vipera e il suo frutto sarà un drago alato.	29 Al Philistia, do not rejoice because the rod which used to beat you is now broken, for the serpentstock wil produce a viper, its offspring wil be a flying dragon.
30 I poveri pascoleranno sui miei prati e i miseri vi riposeranno tranquilli; ma farò morire di fame la tua stirpe e ucciderò il tuo resto.	30 While the first-born of the poor are grazing and the destitute are resting in safety, I shall make yourstock die of hunger and then slaughter what remains of you.
31 Urla, porta; grida, città; trema, Filistea tutta, perché dal settentrione si alza il fumo e nessuno si sbanda dalle sue schiere".	31 Howl, gate! Shriek, city! Totter, all Philistia! For a smoke is coming from the north, and there are nodeserters in those battalions.
32 Che si risponderà ai messaggeri delle nazioni? "Il Signore ha fondato Sion e in essa si rifugiano gli oppressi del suo popolo".	32 What reply wil be given then to the messengers of that nation? - That Yahweh founded Zion andthere the poor of his people will find refuge.
