| 1 Se siete risorti con Cristo, cercate le cose dell’alto, dove Cristo è assiso alla destra di Dio, | 1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. |
| 2 pensate alle cose dell’alto, non a quelle della terra. | 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. |
| 3 Voi siete morti, infatti, e la vostra vita è nascosta con Cristo in Dio. | 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. |
| 4 Quando Cristo; la vostra vita, sarà manifestato, allora anche voi sarete con lui manifestati nella gloria. | 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. |
| 5 Mortificate, dunque, le vostre membra terrene: fornicazione, impurità, passione peccaminosa, cattivo desiderio e cupidigia di possedere, che è una specie d’idolatria. | 5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: |
| 6 A cagione di queste cose viene l’ira di Dio sui ribelli. | 6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: |
| 7 Anche voi così praticaste un tempo, quando vivevate in questi vizi. | 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. |
| 8 Ora, però, deponete anche voi tutto questo: collera, sdegno, cattiveria, maldicenza, turpiloquio dalla vostra bocca. | 8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. |
| 9 Non mentite più gli uni agli altri; poiché vi siete spogliati del vecchio uomo con la sua condotta | 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; |
| 10 e avete rivestito il nuovo, quello che si rinnova per giungere alla piena conoscenza, secondo l’immagine di colui che lo ha creato: | 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: |
| 11 dove non c’è più distinzione di greco o di giudeo, di circoncisi e d’incirconcisi, di barbaro, scita, schiavo o libero; ma tutto e in tutti è Cristo. | 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. |
| 12 Rivestitevi, dunque, quali eletti di Dio, santi e prediletti, di tenera compassione, di bontà, di umiltà, di mitezza, di pazienza, | 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; |
| 13 sopportandovi reciprocamente e perdonandovi, se qualcuno ha motivo di rimprovero verso un altro: come il Signore ha perdonato a voi, anche voi fate altrettanto. | 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. |
| 14 Soprattutto poi rivestitevi della carità, che è il vincolo della perfezione. | 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. |
| 15 E la pace di Cristo, alla quale siete stati chiamati nell’unità di un medesimo corpo, regni sovrana nei vostri cuori. E, finalmente, siate riconoscenti. | 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. |
| 16 La parola di Cristo risieda in voi in tutta la sua ricchezza; istruitevi in tutta saggezza ed esortatevi reciprocamente. Mediante salmi, inni, cantici ispirati, cantate a Dio di tutto cuore, con riconoscenza. | 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. |
| 17 E tutto quello che dite o fate, tutto sia nel nome del Signore Gesù, rendendo grazie a Dio Padre per mezzo di lui. | 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. |
| 18 Mogli, siate sottomesse ai vostri mariti, come conviene nel Signore. | 18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. |
| 19 Mariti, amate le vostre mogli e non, siate aspri verso di loro. | 19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. |
| 20 Figli, obbedite ai vostri genitori in ogni cosa: ciò è ben accetto al Signore. | 20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. |
| 21 Padri,non irritate i vostri figli, affinché non si scoraggino. | 21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. |
| 22 Schiavi, obbedite in ogni cosa ai vostri padroni terreni, non servendo perché visti, come per piacere agli uomini, ma con semplicità di cuore, temendo il Signore. | 22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: |
| 23 Qualunque sia il vostro lavoro, agite di buon animo, come per il Signore e non per gli uomini, | 23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; |
| 24 sapendo bene che dal Signore riporterete in ricompensa l’eredità. Servite al Signore Cristo! | 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. |
| 25 Chi commette ingiustizia riceverà secondo il suo operato ingiusto; e non c’è riguardo a persona. | 25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons. |
