1 Qui habite le secret d'Elyôn passe la nuit à l'ombre de Shaddaï,	1 A Canticle Psalm. On the day of the Sabbath.
2 disant à Yahvé: Mon abri, ma forteresse, mon Dieu sur qui je compte!	2 It is good to confess to the Lord and to sing psalms to your name, O Most High:
3 C'est lui qui t'arrache au filet de l'oiseleur qui s'affaire à détruire;	3 to announce your mercy in the morning, and your truth throughout the night,
4 il te couvre de ses ailes, tu as sous son pennage un abri. Armure et bouclier, sa vérité.	4 upon the ten strings, upon the psaltery, with a canticle, upon stringed instruments.
5 Tu ne craindras ni les terreurs de la nuit, ni la flèche qui vole de jour,	5 For you, O Lord, have delighted me with your doings, and I will exult in the works of your hands.
6 ni la peste qui marche en la ténèbre, ni le fléau qui dévaste à midi.	6 How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts have been made exceedingly deep.
7 Qu'il en tombe mille à tes côtés et 10.000 à ta droite, toi, tu restes hors d'atteinte.	7 A foolish man will not know these things, and a senseless one will not understand:
8 Il suffit que tes yeux regardent, tu verras le salaire des impies,	8 when sinners will have risen up like grass, and when all those who work iniquity will have appeared, that they shall pass away, age after age.
9 toi qui dis: Yahvé mon abri! et qui fais d'Elyôn ton refuge.	9 But you, O Lord, are the Most High for all eternity.
10 Le malheur ne peut fondre sur toi, ni la plaie approcher de ta tente:	10 For behold your enemies, O Lord, for behold your enemies will perish, and all those who work iniquity will be dispersed.
11 il a pour toi donné ordre à ses anges de te garder en toutes tes voies.	11 And my horn will be exalted like that of the single-horned beast, and my old age will be exalted in fruitful mercy.
12 Sur leurs mains ils te porteront pour qu'à la pierre ton pied ne heurte;	12 And my eye has looked down upon my enemies, and my ear will hear of the malignant rising up against me.
13 sur le fauve et la vipère tu marcheras, tu fouleras le lionceau et le dragon.	13 The just one will flourish like the palm tree. He will be multiplied like the cedar of Lebanon.
14 Puisqu'il s'attache à moi, je l'affranchis, je l'exalte puisqu'il connaît mon nom.	14 Those planted in the house of the Lord will flourish in the courts of the house of our God.
15 Il m'appelle et je lui réponds: "Je suis près de lui dans la détresse, je le délivre et je le glorifie,	15 They will still be multiplied in a fruitful old age, and they will endure well,
16 de longs jours je veux le rassasier et je ferai qu'il voie mon salut.	16 so that they may announce that the Lord our God is righteous and that there is no iniquity in him.
