Livre de Job 8

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Bildad de Shuah prit la parole et dit:	1 Bildad of Shuah spoke next. He said:
2 Jusqu'à quand parleras-tu de la sorte et tiendras-tu des propos semblables à un grand vent?	2 How much longer are you going to talk like this and go blustering on in this way?
3 Dieu peut-il fléchir le droit, Shaddaï fausser la justice?	3 Can God deflect the course of right or Shaddai falsify justice?
4 Si tes fils ont péché contre lui, il les a punis pour leurs fautes.	4 If your sons sinned against him, he has punished them for their wrong-doing.
5 Recherche Dieu, implore Shaddaï.	5 You for your part, if you are pure and honest, must now seek God, plead with Shaddai.
6 Pour toi, si tu es irréprochable et droit, Dès maintenant, sa lumière brillera sur toi et il restaurera lamaison d'un juste.	6 Forthwith his light wil shine on you and he wil restore an upright man's house to prosperity.
7 Ta condition ancienne te paraîtra comme rien, si grand sera ton avenir.	7 Your former state wil seem as nothing to you, so great wil your future be.
8 Interroge la génération passée, médite sur l'expérience acquise par ses pères.	8 Question the generation that has passed, meditate on the experience of its ancestors-
9 Nous, nés d'hier, nous ne savons rien, notre vie sur terre passe comme une ombre.	9 for we children of yesterday, we know nothing, our life on earth passes like a shadow-
10 Mais eux, ils t'instruiront, te parleront, et leur pensée livrera ces sentences:	10 but they wil teach you, they will tel you, and their thought is expressed in these sayings,
11 "Le papyrus pousse-t-il hors des marais? Privé d'eau, le jonc peut-il croître?	11 'Can papyrus flourish except in marshes? Without water can the rushes grow?
12 Quand il est encore dans sa fraîcheur et non cueilli, avant toute autre herbe il se dessèche.	12 Even when green and before being cut, fastest of al plants they wither.
13 Tel est le sort de ceux qui oublient Dieu, ainsi périt l'espoir de l'impie.	13 Such is the fate of al who forget God; so perishes the hope of the godless.
14 Sa confiance n'est que filandre, sa sécurité, une maison d'araignée.	14 His hope is nothing but gossamer, his confidence a spider's web.
15 S'appuie-t-il sur sa demeure, elle cède; s'y cramponne-t-il, elle s'écroule.	15 Let him lean on his house, it wil not stand firm; cling to it, it wil not hold.
16 Plein de sève au soleil, au-dessus du jardin il lançait ses jeunes pousses.	16 Like some lush plant in the sunlight, he sent his young shoots sprouting over the garden;
17 Ses racines entrelacées sur un tertre pierreux, il puisait sa vie au milieu des rochers.	17 but his roots were twined in a heap of stones, he drew his life among the rocks.
18 On l'arrache de son lieu; son lieu le renie: Je ne t'ai jamais vu!	18 Snatch him from his bed, and it denies it ever saw him.
19 Et le voilà pourrissant sur le chemin, tandis que du sol, d'autres germent.	19 Now he rots on the roadside, and others are springing up in the soil.
20 Non, Dieu ne rejette pas l'homme intègre, il ne prête pas main-forte aux méchants.	20 Believe me, God neither spurns anyone of integrity, nor lends his aid to the evil.
21 Le rire peut de nouveau remplir ta bouche, la joie éclater sur tes lèvres.	21 Once again laughter may fil your mouth and cries of joy break from your lips.
22 Tes ennemis seront couverts de honte, et la tente des méchants disparaîtra."	22 Your enemies will be covered with shame and the tent of the wicked wil vanish!'
