1 At this, my very heart quakes and leaps out of its place.	1 Per questo mi trema il cuore e balza dal suo posto.
2 Listen, oh listen, to the blast of his voice and the sound that issues from his mouth.	2 Udite il tuono della sua voce e il fragore che esce dalla sua bocca.
3 His lightning is hurled across the heaven, it strikes to the extremities of earth.	3 Lo fa correre per tutto il cielo, la sua folgore va fino alle estremità della terra.
4 After it comes a roaring sound, God thunders with majestic voice. He does not check his thunderboltsuntil his voice resounds no more.	4 Dietro di lui rugge una voce: egli tuona con voce maestosa e nulla trattiene le folgori quando hanno udito la sua voce.
5 Yes, certainly God shows us marvels and does great deeds that we cannot understand.	5 Dio con la voce opera meraviglie, fa cose grandi che noi non comprendiamo;

14 Listen to this, Job, without flinching and reflect on the marvel ous works of God.	14 Ascolta questo, o Giobbe; soffermati e considera le meraviglie di Dio.
15 Do you know how God controls them or how his clouds make the lightning flash?	15 Sai tu come Dio comanda loro e come la sua nube faccia guizzare le folgori?
16 Do you know how he balances the clouds -- a miracle of consummate skil ?	16 Sai tu come si equilibra la nuvola, miracolo di chi ha scienza perfetta?
17 When your clothes are hot to your body and the earth lies stil under the south wind,	17 E come le tue vesti si scaldino, quando la terra riposa sotto il vento del sud?
18 can you, like him, stretch out the sky, tempered like a mirror of cast metal?	18 Hai tu disteso con lui il firmamento, solido come uno specchio di metallo fuso?
19 Teach me what we should say to him: but better discuss no further, since we are in the dark.	19 Insegnami che cosa dovremo rispondergli, noi non connettiamo per le tenebre:
20 Does he take note when I speak? When human beings give orders, does he take it in?	20 si riferirà a lui se io parlo? Quando un uomo parla, ne è informato?
21 There are times when the light vanishes, behind darkening clouds; then comes the wind, sweepingthem away.	21 E ora non si vede più la luce oscurata dalle nubi; ma un vento passa e le squarcia.
22 and brightness spreads from the north. God is clothed in fearful splendour:	22 Da nord viene uno splendore; intorno a Dio c'è terribile maestà.
23 he, Shaddai, is far beyond our reach. Supreme in power, in equity, excel ing in saving justice, yet nooppressor-	23 Shaddai non lo possiamo raggiungere. Egli è grande in forza e in rettitudine, ma immenso per giustizia, egli non opprime.
24 no wonder then that people fear him: everyone thoughtful holds him in awe!	24 Lo temano dunque i mortali: egli non guarda nemmeno tutti i saggi di cuore».
