1 At this, my very heart quakes and leaps out of its place.	1 Per questo tremò a me il cuore, e mi sbalzò dalla sua sede.
2 Listen, oh listen, to the blast of his voice and the sound that issues from his mouth.	2 Attentamente ascoltate la tremenda voce di lui, e il suono, che parte dalla sua bocca.
3 His lightning is hurled across the heaven, it strikes to the extremities of earth.	3 Egli porta il suo pensiero alle cose di sotto de' cieli, e la sua luce fino alle estremità della terra.
4 After it comes a roaring sound, God thunders with majestic voice. He does not check his thunderboltsuntil his voice resounds no more.	4 Dietro a lui un suono di ruggito, egli tuona colla voce di sua Maestà, e udita che sia la sua voce, aggiungervi non si potrà.
5 Yes, certainly God shows us marvels and does great deeds that we cannot understand.	5 Mirabilmente rimbomba nel tuono la voce di Dio, che fa cose grandi, e imperscrutabili.
6 When he says to the snow, 'Fal on the earth!' to the showers, 'Now rain hard!'	6 Egli comanda alla neve di calar sulla terra, e alle pioggie d'inverno, e alle sue impetuose procelle.
7 he brings al human activity to a standstil , for everyone to acknowledge his work.	7 Egli nella mano d'ogni uomo pone un segno, affinchè ciascuno conosca le opere sue.
8 The animals go back to their dens and take shelter in their lairs.	8 La fiera si ritira nella sua tana, e si sta ferma nel suo covile.
9 The storm wind comes from the Mansion of the South, and the north winds usher in the cold.	9 Da' luoghi reconditi la tempesta vien fuora, e il freddo da settentrione.
10 At the breath of God, ice comes next, the surface of the waters hardens over.	10 Al soffio di Dio il gelo si addensa, e si spandono dipoi le acque da tutte parti.
11 He weighs the clouds down with moisture, and the storm clouds radiate his lightning.	11 Il frumento brama le nuvole, e le nuvole gettan la loro luce.
12 He himself guides their wheeling motion presiding over their seasonal changes. They carry out hisorders to the letter al over this earthly world.	12 Elle van girando all'intorno dovunque le guidi il volere di lui, che le governa, ad eseguire i suoi ordini per tutte le parti della terra,
13 Whether to punish earth's peoples or as a work of faithful love, he despatches them.	13 Sia in una data tribù, sia nella terra di lui, o in qualunque altro luogo, dove alla bontà di lui piacerà, che elle si trovino.
14 Listen to this, Job, without flinching and reflect on the marvel ous works of God.	14 Ascolta queste cose, o Giobbe, levati su, e considera le meraviglie di Dio.
15 Do you know how God controls them or how his clouds make the lightning flash?	15 Sai tu forse quando Dio abbia comandato alle piogge di fare apparire la luce dalle sue nuvole?
16 Do you know how he balances the clouds -- a miracle of consummate skil ?	16 Hai tu conosciute le vie delle nuvole, e quel grande, e perfetto sapere?
17 When your clothes are hot to your body and the earth lies stil under the south wind,	17 Non son elleno calde le tue vestimenta, allorché l'austro soffia sopra la terra?
18 can you, like him, stretch out the sky, tempered like a mirror of cast metal?	18 Tu forse insieme con lui fabbricasti i cieli, i quali sono saldissimi, come se fosser gettati in bronzo?
19 Teach me what we should say to him: but better discuss no further, since we are in the dark.	19 Insegna tu a noi quello, che abbiamo da dire a lui; perocché noi siamo avvolti nelle tenebre.
20 Does he take note when I speak? When human beings give orders, does he take it in?	20 Chi ridirà a lui quello, ch'io dico? Se un uomo ardirà di parlarne, resterà oppresso.
21 There are times when the light vanishes, behind darkening clouds; then comes the wind, sweepingthem away.	21 Ma adesso gli uomini non veggon la luce; l'aria subitamente comprimesi in nuvole, ma un vento, che passa le mette in fuga.
22 and brightness spreads from the north. God is clothed in fearful splendour:	22 L'oro vien da settentrione, e a Dio laude diasi con timore.
23 he, Shaddai, is far beyond our reach. Supreme in power, in equity, excel ing in saving justice, yet nooppressor-	23 Noi non siam degni di raggiungerlo, egli è grande in sua possanza, ne' suoi giudizj, e nella giustizia, ed è ineffabile.
24 no wonder then that people fear him: everyone thoughtful holds him in awe!	24 Per questo gli uomini lo temeranno, e nissuno di quelli, che si credono saggi ardirà di contemplarlo.
