Job 37

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 At this, my very heart quakes and leaps out of its place.	1 También por eso tiembla mi corazón y se me salta fuera del pecho.
2 Listen, oh listen, to the blast of his voice and the sound that issues from his mouth.	2 ¡Escuchen el estampido de su voz y el estruendo que sale de su boca!
3 His lightning is hurled across the heaven, it strikes to the extremities of earth.	3 El lanza su rayo bajo los cielos y hasta los confines de la tierra llega su fulgor.
4 After it comes a roaring sound, God thunders with majestic voice. He does not check his thunderboltsuntil his voice resounds no more.	4 Detrás de él, ruge una voz: hace tronar su voz majestuosa y no retiene los relámpagos mientras se deja oír su voz.
5 Yes, certainly God shows us marvels and does great deeds that we cannot understand.	5 Dios nos hace contemplar maravillas, realiza grandes cosas, que no llegamos a entender.
6 When he says to the snow, 'Fal on the earth!' to the showers, 'Now rain hard!'	6 Cuando dice a la nieve: «Cae sobre la tierra», y a los aguaceros: «Lluevan con fuerza»,
7 he brings al human activity to a standstil , for everyone to acknowledge his work.	7 él suspende la actividad de los hombres, para que todos reconozcan su obra;
8 The animals go back to their dens and take shelter in their lairs.	8 las fieras se meten en sus guaridas y se refugian en sus madrigueras.
9 The storm wind comes from the Mansion of the South, and the north winds usher in the cold.	9 De la constelación austral irrumpe la tormenta, y el frío, de los vientos del norte.
10 At the breath of God, ice comes next, the surface of the waters hardens over.	10 Al soplo de Dios se forma el hielo y se congela la extensión de las aguas.
11 He weighs the clouds down with moisture, and the storm clouds radiate his lightning.	11 El carga la nube de humedad, y el nubarrón expande su relámpago,
12 He himself guides their wheeling motion presiding over their seasonal changes. They carry out hisorders to the letter al over this earthly world.	12 que gira en derredor, conforme a sus planes, para ejecutar cada uno de sus mandatos por toda la superficie de la tierra:
13 Whether to punish earth's peoples or as a work of faithful love, he despatches them.	13 sea que cumpla su voluntad para un castigo o para dispensar sus beneficios.
14 Listen to this, Job, without flinching and reflect on the marvel ous works of God.	14 Presta atención a esto, Job, detente y considera las maravillas de Dios.
15 Do you know how God controls them or how his clouds make the lightning flash?	15 ¿Sabes acaso cómo Dios las dirige y cómo su nube hace brillar el rayo?
16 Do you know how he balances the clouds -- a miracle of consummate skil ?	16 ¿Sabes cómo se balancean las nubes, maravillas de un maestro en sabiduría?
17 When your clothes are hot to your body and the earth lies stil under the south wind,	17 Tú, que no soportas el ardor de tu ropa, cuando la tierra está en calma bajo el viento del sur,
18 can you, like him, stretch out the sky, tempered like a mirror of cast metal?	18 ¿puedes extender con él la bóveda del cielo, sólida como un espejo de metal fundido?
19 Teach me what we should say to him: but better discuss no further, since we are in the dark.	19 Enséñanos qué debemos decirle: no discutiremos más, a causa de la oscuridad.
20 Does he take note when I speak? When human beings give orders, does he take it in?	20 Si yo hablo, ¿alguien se lo cuenta? ¿Hay que informarlo de lo que dice un hombre?
21 There are times when the light vanishes, behind darkening clouds; then comes the wind, sweepingthem away.	21 Hasta ahora no se veía la luz: estaba oscurecida por las nubes; pero pasó un viento y las disipó.
22 and brightness spreads from the north. God is clothed in fearful splendour:	22 ¡Un áureo resplandor viene del norte; una terrible tempestad reina en torno de Dios!
23 he, Shaddai, is far beyond our reach. Supreme in power, in equity, excel ing in saving justice, yet nooppressor-	23 ¡Es el Todopoderoso, y no lo podemos alcanzar! El es sublime por su fuerza y su equidad, grande por su justicia y no oprime a nadie.
24 no wonder then that people fear him: everyone thoughtful holds him in awe!	24 Por eso le temen los hombres, y él no tiene en cuenta ni siquiera a los sabios.
