¹ At this, my very heart quakes and leaps out of its place.	¹ Il cuor mi trema eziandio di questo, E si muove dal luogo suo.
² Listen, oh listen, to the blast of his voice and the sound that issues from his mouth.	² Udite pure il suo tremendo tuono, E il mormorare ch’esce dalla sua bocca.
³ His lightning is hurled across the heaven, it strikes to the extremities of earth.	³ Egli lo lancia sotto tutti i cieli, E la sua fiamma sopra le estremità della terra;
⁴ After it comes a roaring sound, God thunders with majestic voice. He does not check his thunderboltsuntil his voice resounds no more.	⁴ Dopo la quale rugge il tuono; egli tuona con la voce della sua altezza, E non indugia quelle cose, dopo che la sua voce è stata udita.
⁵ Yes, certainly God shows us marvels and does great deeds that we cannot understand.	⁵ Iddio tuona maravigliosamente con la sua voce; Egli fa cose tanto grandi, che noi non possiam comprenderle
⁶ When he says to the snow, 'Fal on the earth!' to the showers, 'Now rain hard!'	⁶ Perciocchè egli dice alla neve: Cadi in su la terra; E parimente al nembo della pioggia, al nembo delle sue forti piogge.
⁷ he brings al human activity to a standstil , for everyone to acknowledge his work.	⁷ Egli rinchiude ogni uomo in casa, Come per riconoscer tutti i suoi lavoratori.
⁸ The animals go back to their dens and take shelter in their lairs.	⁸ E le fiere se n’entrano ne’ lor nascondimenti, E dimorano ne’ lor ricetti.
⁹ The storm wind comes from the Mansion of the South, and the north winds usher in the cold.	⁹ La tempesta viene dall’Austro, E il freddo dal Settentrione.
¹⁰ At the breath of God, ice comes next, the surface of the waters hardens over.	¹⁰ Iddio, col suo soffio, produce il ghiaccio, E fa che le acque che si diffondevano diventano come di metallo.
¹¹ He weighs the clouds down with moisture, and the storm clouds radiate his lightning.	¹¹ Egli stanca eziandio le nuvole in adacquar la terra, E disperge le nubi con la sua luce.
¹² He himself guides their wheeling motion presiding over their seasonal changes. They carry out hisorders to the letter al over this earthly world.	¹² Ed esse si rivolgono in molti giri, secondo gli ordini suoi Intorno a ciò che hanno a fare, Secondo tutto quello ch’egli comanda loro di fare In su la faccia del mondo, nella terra;
¹³ Whether to punish earth's peoples or as a work of faithful love, he despatches them.	¹³ Facendole venire, o per castigo, O per la sua terra, o per alcun beneficio
¹⁴ Listen to this, Job, without flinching and reflect on the marvel ous works of God.	¹⁴ Porgi l’orecchio a questo, o Giobbe; Fermati, e considera le maraviglie di Dio.
¹⁵ Do you know how God controls them or how his clouds make the lightning flash?	¹⁵ Sai tu, come Iddio dispone di esse, E come egli fa risplender la luce della sua nuvola?
¹⁶ Do you know how he balances the clouds -- a miracle of consummate skil ?	¹⁶ Intendi tu come le nuvole son bilanciate? Conosci tu le maraviglie di colui che è perfetto in ogni scienza?
¹⁷ When your clothes are hot to your body and the earth lies stil under the south wind,	¹⁷ Come i tuoi vestimenti son caldi, Quando egli acqueta l’Austro in su la terra?
¹⁸ can you, like him, stretch out the sky, tempered like a mirror of cast metal?	¹⁸ Hai tu con lui distesi i cieli, I quali son sodi, come uno specchio di metallo?
¹⁹ Teach me what we should say to him: but better discuss no further, since we are in the dark.	¹⁹ Insegnaci ciò che noi gli diremo; Poichè, per cagione delle nostre tenebre, noi non possiam bene ordinare i nostri ragionamenti.
²⁰ Does he take note when I speak? When human beings give orders, does he take it in?	²⁰ Gli sarebbe egli rapportato quando io avessi parlato? Se vi fosse alcuno che ne parlasse, certo egli sarebbe abissato
²¹ There are times when the light vanishes, behind darkening clouds; then comes the wind, sweepingthem away.	²¹ Ecco pure gli uomini non possono riguardare il sole, Quando egli risplende nel cielo, Dopo che il vento è passato, e l’ha spazzato;
²² and brightness spreads from the north. God is clothed in fearful splendour:	²² E che dal Settentrione è venuta la dorata serenità; Or Iddio ha intorno a sè una tremenda maestà.
²³ he, Shaddai, is far beyond our reach. Supreme in power, in equity, excel ing in saving justice, yet nooppressor-	²³ Egli è l’Onnipotente, noi non possiam trovarlo; Egli è grande in forza, Ed in giudicio, ed in grandezza di giustizia; Egli non oppressa alcuno;
²⁴ no wonder then that people fear him: everyone thoughtful holds him in awe!	²⁴ Perciò gli uomini lo temono; Alcun uomo, benchè savio di cuore, no ‘l può vedere
