1 Locutus est Dominus ad Moysen dicens:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
2 “ Loquere ad filios Israel et dices ad eos: Cum ingressi fueritis terram habitationis vestrae, quam ego dabo vobis,	2 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "When you have arrived in the country where you are to live andwhich I am giving to you,
3 et feceritis oblationem Domino in holocaustum aut victimam vota solventes vel sponte offerentes munera aut in sollemnitatibus vestris adolentes odorem suavitatis Domino de bobus sive de ovibus,	3 and you burn food as an offering to Yahweh either as a burnt offering or as a sacrifice, whether inpayment of a vow, or as a voluntary gift, or on the occasion of one of your solemn feasts, from your herds andflocks as a smel pleasing to Yahweh:
4 offeret, quicumque immolaverit victimam, sacrificium similae decimam partem ephi conspersae oleo, quod mensuram habebit quartam partem hin,	4 the offerer wil , as his personal gift to Yahweh, bring a cereal offering of one-tenth of an ephah of fineflour mixed with one-quarter of a hin of oil.
5 et vinum ad liba fundenda eiusdem mensurae dabit in holocaustum sive in victimam per agnos singulos.	5 You will also make a libation of wine, one-quarter of a hin to each lamb, in addition to the burntoffering or sacrifice.
6 Per arietes erit sacrificium similae duarum decimarum, quae conspersa sit oleo tertiae partis hin;	6 For a ram, you will make a cereal offering of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-thirdof a hin of oil,
7 et vinum ad libamentum tertiae partis eiusdem mensurae offeret in odorem suavitatis Domino.	7 and a libation of one-third of a hin of wine as a smel pleasing to Yahweh.
8 Quando vero de bobus feceris holocaustum aut hostiam, ut impleas votum vel pacificas victimas,	8 If you offer a bul as a burnt offering or sacrifice, in payment of a vow or as a communion sacrifice forYahweh,
9 dabis per singulos boves similae tres decimas conspersae oleo, quod habeat medium mensurae hin,	9 in addition to the animal you wil offer a cereal offering of three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixedwith half a hin of oil,
10 et vinum ad liba fundenda eiusdem mensurae in oblationem suavissimi odoris Domino.	10 and you wil offer a libation of half a hin of wine, as food burnt as a smel pleasing to Yahweh.
11 Sic facies per singulos boves et arietes et agnos et capras.	11 This wil be done for every bul , every ram, every lamb or kid.
12 Secundum numerum victimarum quas offeretis, ita facietis singulis secundum numerum earum.	12 Whatever the number of victims you intend to offer, you wil do the same for each of them, howevermany there are.
13 Omnis indigena eodem ritu offeret sacrificium ignis in odorem suavitatis Domino.	13 "Every citizen of the country wil act in this way whenever he offers food burnt as a smel pleasing toYahweh;
14 Et omnis peregrinus, qui habitat vobiscum vel qui commoratur in medio vestri in omnibus generationibus vestris, offeret sacrificium ignis in odorem suavitatis Domino eodem modo sicut et vos.	14 and if an alien residing with you or with your descendants intends to offer food burnt as a smelpleasing to Yahweh, he wil do as you do.
15 Unum praeceptum erit tam vobis quam advenis pro omnibus generationibus vestris coram Domino.	15 There wil be one law for you, members of the community, and the resident alien alike, a law bindingyour descendants for ever: before Yahweh you and the resident alien are no different.'
16 Una lex erit atque unum iudicium tam vobis quam advenis, qui vobiscum commorantur ”.	16 One law, one statute, wil apply for you and the resident alien." '
17 Locutus est Dominus ad Moysen dicens:	17 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
18 “ Loquere filiis Israel et dices ad eos: Cum veneritis in terram, quam dabo vobis,	18 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "When you have entered the country to which I am bringing you,
19 et comederitis de panibus regionis illius, separabitis donaria Domino	19 you wil set a portion aside for Yahweh when you eat that country's bread.
20 de pulmento placentam. Sicut de areis donaria separatis,	20 You wil set one cake aside as the first-fruits of your dough; you will set this offering aside like theone set aside from your threshing.
21 ita et de pulmentis dabitis ea Domino.	21 For al future generations you will set a portion of your dough aside for Yahweh.
22 Quod si per ignorantiam praeterieritis quidquam horum, quae locutus est Dominus ad Moysen	22 "If through inadvertence you fail in any of these orders which Yahweh has given to Moses
23 et mandavit per eum ad vos a die, qua coepit iubere et ultra ad generationes vestras,	23 (whatever orders Yahweh has given you or your descendants through Moses, from the day whenYahweh gave his orders),
24 si longe ab oculis congregationis, offeret congregatio vitulum de armento, holocaustum in odorem placabilem Domino et oblationem ac liba eius, ut caeremoniae postulant, hircumque pro peccato.	24 this is what must be done: "If it is an inadvertence on the part of the community, the community as awhole wil offer a young bull as a burnt offering, as a smell pleasing to Yahweh, with the prescribedaccompanying cereal offering and libation, and a he-goat as a sacrifice for sin.
25 Et expiabit sacerdos pro omni congregatione filiorum Israel, et dimittetur eis, quoniam non sponte peccaverunt, nihilominus offerentes sacrificium ignis Domino pro se et pro peccato atque errore suo.	25 The priest wil perform the rite of expiation for the entire community of Israelites, and they wil beforgiven, since it was an inadvertence. Once they have brought their offering as food burnt for Yahweh, and havepresented their sacrifice for sin before Yahweh to make amends for their inadvertence,
26 Et dimittetur universae plebi filiorum Israel et advenis, qui peregrinantur inter eos, quoniam culpa est omnis populi per ignorantiam.	26 the whole community of Israelites wil be forgiven, as also the alien residing with them, since theentire people acted by inadvertence.
27 Quod si anima una nesciens peccaverit, offeret capram anniculam pro peccato suo.	27 "If it is an individual who has sinned by inadvertence, he wil offer a yearling kid as a sacrifice for sin.
28 Et expiabit pro ea sacerdos, quod inscia peccaverit coram Domino; expiabit pro ea, et dimittetur illi.	28 The priest wil perform the rite of expiation before Yahweh for the person who has gone astray owingto this sin of inadvertence and, expiation having been made for him, he will be forgiven;
29 Tam indigenis quam advenis una lex erit omnium, qui peccaverint ignorantes.	29 whether he is an Israelite citizen or a resident alien, you wil have one law for anyone who sins byinadvertence.
30 Anima vero, quae per superbiam aliquid commiserit, sive civis sit ille sive peregrinus, quoniam adversus Dominum rebellis fuit, peribit de populo suo.	30 "But the individual who acts deliberately, be he citizen or alien, commits an outrage against Yahweh,and such a man wil be outlawed from his people.
31 Verbum enim Domini contempsit et praeceptum illius fecit irritum; idcirco delebitur et portabit iniquitatem suam ”.	31 Since he has treated Yahweh's word with contempt and has disobeyed his order, such a man wil beoutlawed absolutely and wil bear the consequences of his guilt." '
32 Factum est autem, cum essent filii Israel in solitudine et invenissent hominem colligentem ligna in die sabbati,	32 While the Israelites were in the desert, a man was caught gathering wood on the Sabbath day.
33 obtulerunt eum Moysi et Aaron et universae congregationi,	33 Those who caught him gathering wood brought him before Moses, Aaron and the whole community.
34 qui recluserunt eum in carcerem nescientes quid super eo facere deberent.	34 He was kept in custody, because the penalty he should undergo had not yet been fixed.
35 Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen: “ Morte moriatur homo iste; obruat eum lapidibus omnis turba extra castra ”.	35 Yahweh said to Moses, 'This man must be put to death. The whole community will stone him outsidethe camp.'
36 Cumque eduxissent eum foras, obruerunt lapidibus; et mortuus est, sicut praeceperat Dominus.	36 The whole community took him outside the camp and stoned him til he was dead, as Yahweh hadordered Moses.
37 Dixit quoque Dominus ad Moysen:	37 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
38 “ Loquere filiis Israel et dices ad eos, ut faciant sibi fimbrias per angulos palliorum ponentes in eis vittas hyacinthinas.	38 'Speak to the Israelites and tell them, for all generations to come, to put tassels on the hems of theirclothes and work a violet thread into the tassel at the hem.
39 Quas cum videbitis, recordabimini omnium mandatorum Domini eaque facietis nec sequamini cogitationes vestras et oculos per res varias fornicantes,	39 You wil thus have a tassel, and the sight of it wil remind you of al Yahweh's orders and how youare to put them into practice, and not follow the dictates of your own heart and eyes, which have led you to beunfaithful.
40 sed magis memores omnium praeceptorum meorum faciatis ea sitisque sancti Deo vestro.	40 'This wil remind you of all my orders; put them into practice, and you wil be consecrated to yourGod.
41 Ego Dominus Deus vester, qui eduxi vos de terra Aegypti, ut essem Deus vester. Ego Dominus Deus vester ”.	41 I, Yahweh your God, have brought you out of Egypt, to be your God, I, Yahweh your God.'
