1 Divisiones autem ianitorum.
De Coritis: Meselemia filius Core de filiis Abiasaph.
1 As regards the orders of the gatekeepers: Of the Korahites there was Meshelemiah son of Kore, oneof the sons of Ebiasaph,
2 Filii Meselemiae: Zacharias primogenitus, Iedihel secundus, Zabadias tertius, Iathanael quartus,2 and Meshelemiah's sons: Zechariah the first-born, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel thefourth,
3 Elam quintus, Iohanan sextus, Elioenai septimus.3 Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Elioenai the seventh.
4 Filii autem Obededom: Semeias primogenitus, Iozabad secundus, Ioah tertius, Sachar quartus, Nathanael quintus,4 Obed-Edom's sons were: Shemaiah the first-born, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar thefourth, Nethanel the fifth,
5 Ammiel sextus, Issachar septimus, Phollathi octavus, quia benedixit illi Deus.5 Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peul ethai the eighth; God had indeed blessed him.
6 Semeiae autem filio eius nati sunt filii praefecti familiarum suarum, erant enim viri fortissimi;6 His son Shemaiah also had sons who wielded authority in their family, because they were men ofoutstanding quality.

9 Porro Meselemiae filii et fratres eorum robustissimi decem et octo.
9 Meshelemiah had eighteen outstanding sons and brothers.
10 De Hosa autem, de filiis Merari, erant filii: Semri princeps — non enim fuerat primogenitus, et idcirco posuerat eum pater eius in principem —10 Hosah, one of the sons of Merari, had sons: Shimri was the first, for although he was not the first-born his father had made him the chief.
11 Helcias secundus, Tabelias tertius, Zacharias quartus; omnes hi filii et fratres Hosa tredecim.
11 Hilkiah was the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth: Hosah had thirteen sons andbrothers in al .
12 Hae divisiones ianitorum: secundum capita virorum habebant ministeria sicut et fratres eorum ad ministrandum in domo Domini.12 These orders of gatekeepers, al ocated according to their headmen, had duties, just like theirbrothers, of serving in the house of Yahweh.
13 Missae sunt ergo sortes ex aequo et parvis et magnis per familias suas in unamquamque portarum.13 Similarly, they drew lots for each gate, whether their families were large or small.
14 Cecidit igitur sors orientalis Selemiae; porro Zachariae filio eius consiliario prudentissimo et erudito sortito obtigit plaga septentrionalis;14 For the eastern one, the lot fel to Shelemiah; and when they drew lots for Zechariah his son, ashrewd counsel or, his lot came out for the north.
15 Obededom vero australis, et filiis eius horreum;15 To Obed-Edom went the south, and to his sons the storehouses.

19 Hae sunt divisiones ianitorum filiorum Core et Merari.
19 These were the orders of the gatekeepers of the sons of Korah and the sons of Merari.
20 Porro Levitae fratres eorum super thesauros domus Dei ac thesauros rerum consecratarum.20 The Levites, their brothers, who were responsible for the treasures of the house of God and for thetreasures of consecrated gifts,
21 De filiis Ladan Gersonitae principes familiarum Ladan Gersonitae erant Iahielitae.21 were the sons of Ladan and belonged to the Gershonites -- the heads of the families of Ladan weredescended from Ladan the Gershonite -- that is to say, the Jehielites.
22 Filii Iahiel et Zetham et Ioel fratrum eius erant super thesauros domus Domini.22 The sons of the Jehielites, Zetham and Joel his brother, were responsible for the treasures of thehouse of Yahweh.
23 De Amramitis et Isaaritis et Hebronitis et Ozielitis:23 Over the Amramites, Izharites, Hebronites, and Uzzielites
24 Subael filius Gersam filii Moysi praepositus thesauris.24 was Shebuel son of Gershom, son of Moses, who was governor of the treasures;

26 Ipse Selemith et fratres eius super omnes thesauros rerum consecratarum, quas sanctificavit David rex et principes familiarum et tribuni et centuriones et duces exercitus26 This Shelomoth and his kinsmen were responsible for al the consecrated treasures dedicated byKing David, by the heads of families, by the commanders of the thousands and hundreds and by thecommanders of the army,
27 de bellis et manubiis proeliorum, quas consecraverant ad sustentandum templum Domini.27 who had dedicated a part of the spoils of war to the service of the house of Yahweh,
28 Et universa, quae consecraverant Samuel videns et Saul filius Cis et Abner filius Ner et Ioab filius Sarviae, omnia donaria sacra erant sub manu Selemith et fratrum eius.
28 and also for al that Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner and Joab son of Zeruiahhad dedicated. In fact, whatever was dedicated was the responsibility of Shelomoth and his kinsmen.
29 De Isaaritis vero erant Chonenias et filii eius ad opera forinsecus super Israel praefecti et iudices.29 Of the Izharites, Chananiah and his sons were assigned to secular duties for Israel as officials andjudges.
30 Porro de Hebronitis Hasabias et fratres eius viri strenui mille septingenti erant magistratus Israel trans Iordanem contra occidentem in cunctis operibus Domini et in ministerium regis;30 Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his kinsmen, one thousand seven hundred outstanding men werein charge of Israel west of Jordan in everything pertaining to Yahweh and to the service of the king.
31 Hebronitarum autem princeps fuit Ieria secundum cognationes et familias eorum. Quadragesimo anno regni David recensiti sunt et inventi viri fortes in Iazer Galaad31 Of the Hebronites, Jerijah was the head.
