1 ובעת ההיא יעמד מיכאל השר הגדול העמד על בני עמך והיתה עת צרה אשר לא נהיתה מהיות גוי עד העת ההיא ובעת ההיא ימלט עמך כל הנמצא כתוב בספר	1 'At that time Michael wil arise -- the great Prince, defender of your people. That wil be a time of greatdistress, unparal eled since nations first came into existence. When that time comes, your own people wil bespared -- al those whose names are found written in the Book.
2 ורבים מישני אדמת עפר יקיצו אלה לחיי עולם ואלה לחרפות לדראון עולם	2 'Of those who are sleeping in the Land of Dust, many wil awaken, some to everlasting life, some toshame and everlasting disgrace.
3 והמשכלים יזהרו כזהר הרקיע ומצדיקי הרבים ככוכבים לעולם ועד	3 Those who are wise wil shine as brightly as the expanse of the heavens, and those who haveinstructed many in uprightness, as bright as stars for al eternity.
4 ואתה דניאל סתם הדברים וחתם הספר עד עת קץ ישטטו רבים ותרבה הדעת	4 'But you, Daniel, must keep these words secret and keep the book sealed until the time of the End.Many wil roam about, this way and that, and wickedness wil continue to increase.'
5 וראיתי אני דניאל והנה שנים אחרים עמדים אחד הנה לשפת היאר ואחד הנה לשפת היאר	5 I, Daniel, then looked and saw two other people standing, one on the near bank of the river, the otheron the far.
6 ויאמר לאיש לבוש הבדים אשר ממעל למימי היאר עד מתי קץ הפלאות	6 One of them said to the man dressed in linen who was standing further up the stream, 'How long untilthese wonders take place?'
7 ואשמע את האיש לבוש הבדים אשר ממעל למימי היאר וירם ימינו ושמאלו אל השמים וישבע בחי העולם כי למועד מועדים וחצי וככלות נפץ יד עם קדש תכלינה כל אלה	7 I heard the man speak who was dressed in linen, standing further up the stream: he raised his righthand and his left to heaven and swore by him who lives for ever, 'A time and two times, and half a time; and althese things wil come true, once the crushing of the holy people's power is over.'
8 ואני שמעתי ולא אבין ואמרה אדני מה אחרית אלה	8 I listened but did not understand. I then said, 'My lord, what is to be the outcome?'
9 ויאמר לך דניאל כי סתמים וחתמים הדברים עד עת קץ	9 'Go, Daniel,' he said. 'These words are to remain secret and sealed until the time of the End.
10 יתבררו ויתלבנו ויצרפו רבים והרשיעו רשעים ולא יבינו כל רשעים והמשכלים יבינו	10 Many wil be cleansed, made white and purged; the wicked will persist in doing wrong; the wicked willnever understand; those who are wise wil understand.
11 ומעת הוסר התמיד ולתת שקוץ שמם ימים אלף מאתים ותשעים	11 From the moment that the perpetual sacrifice is abolished and the appal ing abomination set up: athousand two hundred and ninety days.
12 אשרי המחכה ויגיע לימים אלף שלש מאות שלשים וחמשה	12 Blessed is he who perseveres and attains a thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.
13 ואתה לך לקץ ותנוח ותעמד לגרלך לקץ הימין	13 But you, go away and rest; and you wil rise for your reward at the end of time.'
