Vaikrà (ויקרא) - Levitico 1

1 ויקרא אל משה וידבר יהוה אליו מאהל מועד לאמר	1 The LORD called Moses, and from the meeting tent gave him this message:
2 דבר אל בני ישראל ואמרת אלהם אדם כי יקריב מכם קרבן ליהוה מן הבהמה מן הבקר ומן הצאן תקריבו את קרבנכם	2 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When any one of you wishes to bring an animal offering to the LORD, such an offering must be from the herd or from the flock.
3 אם עלה קרבנו מן הבקר זכר תמים יקריבנו אל פתח אהל מועד יקריב אתו לרצנו לפני יהוה	3 "If his holocaust offering is from the herd, it must be a male without blemish. To find favor with the LORD, he shall bring it to the entrance of the meeting tent
4 וסמך ידו על ראש העלה ונרצה לו לכפר עליו	4 and there lay his hand on the head of the holocaust, so that it may be acceptable to make atonement for him.
5 ושחט את בן הבקר לפני יהוה והקריבו בני אהרן הכהנים את הדם וזרקו את הדם על המזבח סביב אשר פתח אהל מועד	5 He shall then slaughter the bull before the LORD, but Aaron's sons, the priests, shall offer up its blood by splashing it on the sides of the altar which is at the entrance of the meeting tent.
6 והפשיט את העלה ונתח אתה לנתחיה	6 Then he shall skin the holocaust and cut it up into pieces.
7 ונתנו בני אהרן הכהן אש על המזבח וערכו עצים על האש	7 After Aaron's sons, the priests, have put some burning embers on the altar and laid some wood on them,
8 וערכו בני אהרן הכהנים את הנתחים את הראש ואת הפדר על העצים אשר על האש אשר על המזבח	8 they shall lay the pieces of meat, together with the head and the suet, on top of the wood and embers on the altar.
9 וקרבו וכרעיו ירחץ במים והקטיר הכהן את הכל המזבחה עלה אשה ריח ניחוח ליהוה	9 The inner organs and the shanks, however, the offerer shall first wash with water. The priest shall then burn the whole offering on the altar as a holocaust, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.
10 ואם מן הצאן קרבנו מן הכשבים או מן העזים לעלה זכר תמים יקריבנו	10 "If his holocaust offering is from the flock, that is, a sheep or a goat, he must bring a male without blemish.
11 ושחט אתו על ירך המזבח צפנה לפני יהוה וזרקו בני אהרן הכהנים את דמו על המזבח סביב	11 This he shall slaughter before the LORD at the north side of the altar. Then Aaron's sons, the priests, shall splash its blood on the sides of the altar.
12 ונתח אתו לנתחיו ואת ראשו ואת פדרו וערך הכהן אתם על העצים אשר על האש אשר על המזבח	12 When the offerer has cut it up into pieces, the priest shall lay these, together with the head and suet, on top of the wood and the fire on the altar.
13 והקרב והכרעים ירחץ במים והקריב הכהן את הכל והקטיר המזבחה עלה הוא אשה ריח ניחח ליהוה	13 The inner organs and the shanks, however, the offerer shall first wash with water. The priest shall offer them up and then burn the whole offering on the altar as a holocaust, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.
14 ואם מן העוף עלה קרבנו ליהוה והקריב מן התרים או מן בני היונה את קרבנו	14 "If he offers a bird as a holocaust to the LORD, he shall choose a turtledove or a pigeon as his offering.
15 והקריבו הכהן אל המזבח ומלק את ראשו והקטיר המזבחה ונמצה דמו על קיר המזבח	15 Having brought it to the altar where it is to be burned, the priest shall snap its head loose and squeeze out its blood against the side of the altar.
16 והסיר את מראתו בנצתה והשליך אתה אצל המזבח קדמה אל מקום הדשן	16 Its crop and feathers shall be removed and thrown on the ash heap at the east side of the altar.
17 ושסע אתו בכנפיו לא יבדיל והקטיר אתו הכהן המזבחה על העצים אשר על האש עלה הוא אשה ריח ניחח ליהוה	17 Then, having split the bird down the middle without separating the halves, the priest shall burn it on the altar, over the wood on the fire, as a holocaust, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.
