Amos 1

1 Parole di Amos, che fu un pastore di Thecua, rivelate a lui intorno a Israele a tempo di Ozia re di Giuda, e a tempo di Geroboam figliuolo di Gioas, re d'Israele, due anni prima del tremuoto.	1 The words of Amos, who was among the shepherds of Tekoa, which he saw about Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2 Egli disse: Il Signore ruggirà da Sionne, e da Gerusalemme alzerà la sua voce, e saranno in lutto le più belle pasture, e secche le cime del Carmelo.	2 And he said: The Lord will roar from Zion, and from Jerusalem he will utter his voice. And the beautiful pastures have mourned, and the top of Carmel has become dry.
3 Queste cose dice il Signore: Dopo le tre scelleraggini di Damasco, e dopo le quattro io non la richiamerò perche ella ha infranti sotto le tregge ferrate quelli di Galaad.	3 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Damascus, and for four, I will not convert it, in so far as they have threshed Gilead into iron wagons.
4 Or io metterò il fuoco alla casa di Azael, e saran divorate le case di Benadad.	4 And I will send fire onto the house of Hazael, and it will devour the houses of Ben-hadad.
5 E spezzerò le porte di Damasco, esperderò gli abitatori dalla campagna dell'idolo, e dalla casa di delizie colui, che ha in mano lo scettro, e il popolo della Siria sarà trasportato a Cirene, dice il Signore.	5 And I will shatter the crowbar of Damascus, and I will destroy the inhabitants of the camp of the idol and the holder of the scepter of the house of pleasure; and the people of Syria will be transferred to Cyrene, says the Lord.
6 Queste cose dice il Signore: Dopo le tre scelleraggini di Gaza, e dopo le quattro io non la richiamerò, perchè hanno condotta schiava tutta la gente per rinchiuderla nell'Idumea.	6 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Gaza, and for four, I will not convert it, in so far as they have carried out an excellent captivity, so as to enclose them in Idumea.
7 E io manderò fuoco contro le mura di Gaza, il quale ridurrà in cenere i suoi palazzi.	7 And I will send a fire onto the wall of Gaza, and it will devour its buildings.
8 E sterminerò gli abitatori di Azoto, e colui, che porta in mano lo scettro di Ascalone, e farò sentire ad Accaron il peso della mia mano, e farò perire gli avanzi de' Filistei, dice il Signore Dio,	8 And I will destroy the inhabitant from Ashdod, and the holder of the scepter of Ashkelon. And I will turn my hand against Ekron, and the remainder of the Philistines will perish, says the Lord God.
9 Queste cose dice il Signore: Dopo le tre scelleraggini di Tiro, e dopo le quattro io non la richiamerò, perchè ella ha rinchiusa in ischiavitù tutta quanta la gente nell'Idumea, e non ha avuta memoria dell'alleanza de' fratelli.	9 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Tyre, and for four, I will not convert it, in so far as they have completed an excellent captivity in Idumea and have not considered the bond among brothers.
10 E io manderò fuoco contro le mura di Tiro, il quale ridurrà in cenere i suoi palazzi.	10 And I will send a fire onto the wall of Tyre, and it will devour its buildings.
11 Queste cose dice il Signore: Dopo le tre scelleraggini di Edom, e dopo le quattro io nol richiamerò, perchè egli ha investito colla spada alla mano il suo fratello, e ha negata a lui la dovuta pietà, ed ha covato pertinacemente il rancore, ed ha conservato l'odio insino al fine.	11 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Edom, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has been pursuing his brother with the sword and has outraged his brother’s compassion, and he has gone beyond his anger and has held onto his indignation until the end.
12 Manderò fuoco contro di Theman, il quale ridurrà in cenere le case di Bosra.	12 I will send a fire onto Teman, and it will devour the buildings of Bozrah.
13 Queste cose dice il Signore: Dopo le tre scelleraggini de' figliuoli di Ammon, e dopo le quattro io non li richiamerò; perocché egli per dilatare i suoi confini ha sventrate le donne gravide di Galaad.	13 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of the sons of Ammon, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has cut up the pregnant women of Gilead, so as to expand his limits.
14 E metterò il fuoco alle mura di Rabba, il quale divorerà le sue case in mezzo alle strida nel tempo della battaglia, e in mezzo al tumulto nel giorno della distruzione.	14 And I will ignite a fire on the wall of Rabbah. And it will devour its buildings, with wailing on the day of war, and with a whirlwind on the day of commotion.
15 E Melchom anderà in ischiavitù, egli, e i suoi prìncipi insieme, dice il Signore.	15 And Melchom will go into captivity, he and his leaders together, says the Lord.
