1 E dopo il giro d'un anno, in quella stagione, nella quale sogliono i re andare alla guerra, Gioab raunò l'esercito, e il nerbo de' soldati, e diede il guasto alle terre de' figliuoli di Ammon; e andò innanzi, e assediò Rabba: or Davidde restò in Gerusalemme, quando Gioab espugnò Rabba, e la distrusse.	1 Now it happened that, after the course of a year, in the time when kings usually go forth to war, Joab gathered an army with experienced soldiers, and he laid waste to the land of the sons of Ammon. And he continued on and besieged Rabbah. But David was staying in Jerusalem when Joab struck Rabbah and destroyed it.
2 E David prese la corona, che Melchom aveva in capo, e vi trovò il peso di un talento d'oro, e delle gemme di gran pregio, e ne fece un diadema per se: e fece anche grandissima preda in quella città:	2 Then David took the crown of Milcom from his head, and he found in it the weight of one talent of gold, and very precious gems. And he made for himself a diadem from it. Also, he took the best spoils of the city, which were very many.
3 E il popolo, che vi era dentro, lo fece uscir fuora: e fece passare sopra di essi delle tregge, e de' carri armati di ferro, e di falci, talmente che restavano trinciati, e stritolati: lo stesso fece David in tutte le città de' figliuoli di Ammon: e tornossene colla sua gente a Gerusalemme.	3 Then he led away the people who were in it. And he caused plows, and sleds, and iron chariots to go over them, so much so that they were cut apart and crushed. So did David treat all the cities of the sons of Ammon. And he returned with all his people to Jerusalem.

7 Questi bestemmiava Israele: ma Jonathan figliuolo di Samaa, fratello di Davidde lo uccise.
