Seconda lettera ai Tessalonicesi 2

1 Riguardo alla venuta del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo e al nostro radunarci con lui, vi preghiamo, fratelli,	1 About the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, brothers, and our being gathered to him:
2 di non lasciarvi troppo presto confondere la mente e allarmare né da ispirazioni né da discorsi, né da qualche lettera fatta passare come nostra, quasi che il giorno del Signore sia già presente.	2 please do not be too easily thrown into confusion or alarmed by any manifestation of the Spirit or anystatement or any letter claiming to come from us, suggesting that the Day of the Lord has already arrived.
3 Nessuno vi inganni in alcun modo! Prima infatti verrà l’apostasia e si rivelerà l’uomo dell’iniquità, il figlio della perdizione,	3 Never let anyone deceive you in any way. It cannot happen until the Great Revolt has taken place andthere has appeared the wicked One, the lost One,
4 l’avversario, colui che s’innalza sopra ogni essere chiamato e adorato come Dio, fino a insediarsi nel tempio di Dio, pretendendo di essere Dio.	4 the Enemy, who raises himself above every so-cal ed God or object of worship to enthrone himself inGod's sanctuary and flaunts the claim that he is God.
5 Non ricordate che, quando ancora ero tra voi, io vi dicevo queste cose?	5 Surely you remember my tel ing you about this when I was with you?
6 E ora voi sapete che cosa lo trattiene perché non si manifesti se non nel suo tempo.	6 And you know, too, what is still holding him back from appearing before his appointed time.
7 Il mistero dell’iniquità è già in atto, ma è necessario che sia tolto di mezzo colui che finora lo trattiene.	7 The mystery of wickedness is already at work, but let him who is restraining it once be removed,
8 Allora l’empio sarà rivelato e il Signore Gesù lo distruggerà con il soffio della sua bocca e lo annienterà con lo splendore della sua venuta.	8 and the wicked One will appear openly. The Lord wil destroy him with the breath of his mouth and wilannihilate him with his glorious appearance at his coming.
9 La venuta dell’empio avverrà nella potenza di Satana, con ogni specie di miracoli e segni e prodigi menzogneri	9 But the coming of the wicked One wil be marked by Satan being at work in al kinds of counterfeitmiracles and signs and wonders,
10 e con tutte le seduzioni dell’iniquità, a danno di quelli che vanno in rovina perché non accolsero l’amore della verità per essere salvati.	10 and every wicked deception aimed at those who are on the way to destruction because they would notaccept the love of the truth and so be saved.
11 Dio perciò manda loro una forza di seduzione, perché essi credano alla menzogna	11 And therefore God sends on them a power that deludes people so that they believe what is false,
12 e siano condannati tutti quelli che, invece di credere alla verità, si sono compiaciuti nell’iniquità.	12 and so that those who do not believe the truth and take their pleasure in wickedness may al becondemned.
13 Noi però dobbiamo sempre rendere grazie a Dio per voi, fratelli amati dal Signore, perché Dio vi ha scelti come primizia per la salvezza, per mezzo dello Spirito santificatore e della fede nella verità.	13 But we must always thank God for you, brothers whom the Lord loves, because God chose you fromthe beginning to be saved by the Spirit who makes us holy and by faith in the truth.
14 A questo egli vi ha chiamati mediante il nostro Vangelo, per entrare in possesso della gloria del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo.	14 Through our gospel he called you to this so that you should claim as your own the glory of our LordJesus Christ.
15 Perciò, fratelli, state saldi e mantenete le tradizioni che avete appreso sia dalla nostra parola sia dalla nostra lettera.	15 Stand firm, then, brothers, and keep the traditions that we taught you, whether by word of mouth or byletter.
16 E lo stesso Signore nostro Gesù Cristo e Dio, Padre nostro, che ci ha amati e ci ha dato, per sua grazia, una consolazione eterna e una buona speranza,	16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who has given us his love and, through hisgrace, such ceaseless encouragement and such sure hope,
17 conforti i vostri cuori e li confermi in ogni opera e parola di bene.	17 encourage you and strengthen you in every good word and deed.
