1 Su Moab. Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio di Israele: "Guai a Nebo poiché è devastata, piena di vergogna e catturata è Kiriatàim; sente vergogna, è abbattuta la roccaforte.	1 On Moab. Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Wretched Nebo, for it has been ravaged, Kiriathaim hasbeen shamed and taken, shame and distraction on the citadel,
2 Non esiste più la fama di Moab; in Chesbòn tramano contro di essa: Venite ed eliminiamola dalle nazioni. Anche tu, Madmèn, sarai demolita, la spada ti inseguirà.	2 the pride of Moab is no more! At Heshbon they plotted her downfal , 'Come, let us put an end to her asa nation!' And you too, inhabitants of Madmen, wil be silenced, the sword wil be after you.
3 Una voce, un grido da Coronàim: Devastazione e rovina grande!	3 A cry of agony goes up from Horonaim, 'Devastation! Dire calamity.
4 Abbattuto è Moab, le grida si fanno sentire fino in Zoar.	4 Moab has been shattered,' the agonised cries of her little ones ring out.
5 Su per la salita di Luchìt vanno piangendo, giù per la discesa di Coronàim si ode un grido di disfatta.	5 Up the slope of Luhith, weeping they go. On the road down to Horonaim is heard the shriek of disaster,
6 Fuggite, salvate la vostra vita! Siate come l'asino selvatico nel deserto.	6 'Away! Flee for your lives like the wild donkey into the desert!'
7 Poiché hai posto la fiducia nelle tue fortezze e nei tuoi tesori, anche tu sarai preso e Camos andrà in esilio insieme con i suoi sacerdoti e con i suoi capi.	7 Yes, since you relied on your deeds and your wealth, you wil be captured too. Chemosh wil go intoexile, with al his priests and princes.
8 Il devastatore verrà contro ogni città; nessuna città potrà scampare. Sarà devastata la valle e la pianura desolata, come dice il Signore.	8 The despoiler wil descend on every town, not one will escape; the Valley wil be ravaged, the Plain beplundered as Yahweh has said.
9 Date ali a Moab, perché dovrà prendere il volo. Le sue città diventeranno un deserto, perché non vi sarà alcun abitante.	9 Give Moab wings so that she can fly away, for her towns wil be laid in ruins where no one wil ever liveagain.
10 Maledetto chi compie fiaccamente l'opera del Signore, maledetto chi trattiene la spada dal sangue!	10 (Accursed be he who does Yahweh's work negligently! Accursed be he who deprives his sword ofblood!)
11 Moab era tranquillo fin dalla giovinezza, riposava come vino sulla sua feccia, non è stato travasato di botte in botte, né è mai andato in esilio; per questo gli è rimasto il suo sapore,il suo profumo non si è alterato.	11 From his youth Moab lived at ease, he settled on his lees, never having been decanted, never havinggone into exile: and so he kept his own flavour, his aroma was unchanged.
12 Per questo, ecco, giorni verranno - dice il Signore - nei quali gli manderò travasatori a travasarlo, vuoteranno le sue botti e frantumeranno i suoi otri.	12 And so the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shal send him decanters to decant him; theywil empty his pitchers and break his wine jars to bits.
13 Moab si vergognerà di Camos come la casa di Israele si è vergognata di Betel, oggetto della sua fiducia.	13 Moab wil be shamed by Chemosh then, as the House of Israel was shamed by Bethel in which theyput their trust.
14 Come potete dire: Noi siamo uomini prodi e uomini valorosi per la battaglia?	14 How can you say, 'We are heroes, sturdy fighting men'?
15 Il devastatore di Moab sale contro di lui, i suoi giovani migliori scendono al macello - dice il re il cui nome è Signore degli eserciti.	15 Moab has been ravaged, his cities scaled, the flower of his youth goes down to the slaughter,declares the King, whose name is Yahweh Sabaoth.
16 È vicina la rovina di Moab, la sua sventura avanza in gran fretta.	16 Moab's ruin is coming soon, his downfal comes at top speed.
17 Compiangetelo, voi tutti suoi vicini e tutti voi che conoscete il suo nome; dite: Come si è spezzata la verga robusta, quello scettro magnifico?	17 Grieve for him, all you living near him, all you who knew his name. Say, 'How shattered it is, thatmighty rod, that splendid sceptre!'
18 Scendi dalla tua gloria, siedi sull'arido suolo, o popolo che abiti a Dibon; poiché il devastatore di Moab è salito contro di te, egli ha distrutto le tue fortezze.	18 Come down from your glory, sit on the parched ground, daughter of Dibon, for the despoiler of Moabhas advanced on you, he has destroyed your strongholds.
19 Sta' sulla strada e osserva, tu che abiti in Aroer.Interroga il fuggiasco e lo scampato, domanda: Che cosa è successo?	19 Stand by the roadside, keep watch, daughter of Aroer. Question fugitive and runaway, ask, 'What hashappened?'
20 Moab prova vergogna, è in rovina; urlate, gridate, annunziate sull'Arnon che Moab è devastato.	20 'Moab has been shattered and shamed. Wail and shriek! Shout along the Arnon, Moab has been laidwaste!'
21 È arrivato il giudizio per la regione dell'altipiano, per Colòn, per Iaaz e per Mefàat,	21 Judgement has also come on the Plain, on Holon, Jahzah, Mephaath,
22 per Dibon, per Nebo e per Bet-Diblatàim,	22 Dibon, Nebo, Beth-Diblathaim,
23 per Kiriatàim, per Bet-Gamùl e per Bet-Meòn,	23 Kiriathaim, Beth-Gamul, Beth-Meon,
24 per Kiriòt e per Bozra, per tutte le città della regione di Moab, lontane e vicine.	24 Kerioth, Bozrah, and al the towns of Moab, far and near.
25 È infranta la potenza di Moab ed è rotto il suo braccio.	25 Moab's horn has been cut off, his arm is broken, Yahweh declares.
26 Inebriatelo, perché si è levato contro il Signore, e Moab si rotolerà nel vomito e anch'esso diventerà oggetto di scherno.	26 Make him drunk! He has set himself up against Yahweh; let Moab wal ow in his vomit and become alaughing-stock in his turn.
27 Non è stato forse Israele per te oggetto di scherno? Fu questi forse sorpreso fra i ladri, dato che quando parli di lui scuoti sempre la testa?	27 Was Israel not a laughing-stock to you? Was he caught red-handed with the thieves, for you to shakeyour head whenever you mention him?
28 Abbandonate le città e abitate nelle rupi, abitanti di Moab, siate come la colomba che fa il nido nelle pareti d'una gola profonda.	28 Leave the towns, make the rocks your home, inhabitants of Moab. Learn from the dove that makes itsnest in the wal s of the gaping gorge.
29 Abbiamo udito l'orgoglio di Moab, il grande orgoglioso, la sua superbia, il suo orgoglio, la sua alterigia, l'altezzosità del suo cuore.	29 We have heard about Moab's pride, so very proud! What arrogance! What pride! What conceit! Whata haughty heart!
30 Conosco bene la sua tracotanza - dice il Signore - l'inconsistenza delle sue chiacchiere, le sue opere vane.	30 -I know al about his presumption, Yahweh declares, his empty boasting, those empty deeds of his!
31 Per questo alzo un lamento su Moab, grido per tutto Moab, gemo per gli uomini di Kir-Cheres.	31 -and so I lament for Moab, for al Moab I raise my cry and mourn for the people of Kir-Heres.
32 Io piango per te come per Iazèr, o vigna di Sibma! I tuoi tralci arrivavano al mare, giungevano fino a Iazèr. Sulle tue frutta e sulla tua vendemmia è piombato il devastatore.	32 More than for Jazer I weep for you, vineyard of Sibmah: your shoots stretched beyond the sea, they reached al the way to Jazer. On your harvest and vintage the despoiler has descended.
33 Sono scomparse la gioia e l'allegria dai frutteti e dalla regione di Moab. È sparito il vino nei tini, non pigia più il pigiatore, il canto di gioia non è più canto di gioia.	33 Gladness and joy have vanished from the orchards of Moab. I have dried up the wine in the presses,the treader of grapes treads no more, the joyful shouting has ceased.
34 Delle grida di Chesbòn e di Elealè si diffonde l'eco fino a Iacaz; da Zoar si odono grida fino a Coronàim e a Eglat-Selisià, poiché le acque di Nimrìm son diventate una zona desolata.	34 The cries of Heshbon and Elealeh can be heard as far as Jahaz. The shrieks resound from Zoar toHoronaim and Eglath-Shelishiyah, for even the Waters of Nimrim have become a wasteland.
35 Io farò scomparire in Moab - dice il Signore - chi sale sulle alture e chi brucia incenso ai suoi dèi.	35 And in Moab I shal make an end, Yahweh declares, of anyone offering sacrifice on the high placesand anyone offering incense to his gods.
36 Perciò il mio cuore per Moab geme come i flauti, il mio cuore geme come i flauti per gli uomini di Kir-Cheres, essendo venute meno le loro scorte.	36 That is why my heart sobs like a flute for Moab, sobs like a flute for the people of Kir-Heres, since thewealth he had acquired is lost.
37 Poiché ogni testa è rasata, ogni barba è tagliata; ci sono incisioni su tutte le mani e tutti hanno i fianchi cinti di sacco.	37 Yes, every head is shaved, every beard cut off, gashes are on every hand, sackcloth round everywaist.
38 Sopra tutte le terrazze di Moab e nelle sue piazze è tutto un lamento, perché io ho spezzato Moab come un vaso senza valore. Parola del Signore.	38 On al the housetops of Moab and in al its squares there is nothing but lamenting, for I have brokenMoab like an unwanted pot, Yahweh declares.
39 Come è rovinato! Gridate! Come Moab ha voltato vergognosamente le spalle! Moab è diventato oggetto di scherno e di orrore per tutti i suoi vicini.	39 How shattered he is! Wail! Moab so shameful y in retreat! Moab has become a laughing-stock, a thingof horror to al his neighbours.
40 Poiché così dice il Signore: Ecco, come l'aquila egli spicca il volo e spande le ali su Moab.	40 For Yahweh says this: (Look, like an eagle, he wil hover, spreading his wings over Moab.)
41 Le città son prese, le fortezze sono occupate. In quel giorno il cuore dei prodi di Moab sarà come il cuore di donna nei dolori del parto.	41 The towns have been captured, the strongholds seized. (And the heart of Moab's warriors, that day,wil be like that of a woman in labour pains.)
42 Moab è distrutto, ha cessato d'essere popolo, perché si è insuperbito contro il Signore.	42 Moab wil be destroyed, no longer a people, for setting itself up against Yahweh.
43 Terrore, trabocchetto, tranello cadranno su di te, abitante di Moab. Oracolo del Signore.	43 Terror, the pit and the snare for you, inhabitant of Moab, Yahweh declares.
44 Chi sfugge al terrore cadrà nel trabocchetto; chi risale dal trabocchetto sarà preso nel tranello, perché io manderò sui Moabiti tutto questo nell'anno del loro castigo. Oracolo del Signore.	44 And anyone who escapes from terror wil fal into the pit, and anyone who climbs out of the pit wil becaught in the snare. Yes, I shall bring all this on Moab when the year comes for punishing them, Yahwehdeclares.
45 All'ombra di Chesbòn si fermano spossati i fuggiaschi, ma un fuoco esce da Chesbòn,una fiamma dal palazzo di Sicòn e divora le tempie di Moab e il cranio di uomini turbolenti.	45 In the shelter of Heshbon the fugitives have paused, exhausted. But fire wil burst from Heshbon, aflame from the palace of Sihon, consuming the brows of Moab, the head of a turbulent brood.
46 Guai a te, Moab, sei perduto, popolo di Camos, poiché i tuoi figli sono condotti schiavi, le tue figlie portate in esilio.	46 Disaster for you, Moab! The people of Chemosh are lost! For your sons have been taken into exileand your daughters into captivity.
47 Ma io cambierò la sorte di Moab negli ultimi giorni. Oracolo del Signore". Qui finisce il giudizio su Moab.	47 But I shal bring back Moab's captives in the final days, Yahweh declares. Thus far the judgement onMoab.
