1 Su Moab. Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio di Israele: "Guai a Nebo poiché è devastata, piena di vergogna e catturata è Kiriatàim; sente vergogna, è abbattuta la roccaforte.	1 Concerning Moab, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Woe to Nebo, it is laid waste; Kiriathaim is disgraced and captured, Disgraced and overthrown is the stronghold:
2 Non esiste più la fama di Moab; in Chesbòn tramano contro di essa: Venite ed eliminiamola dalle nazioni. Anche tu, Madmèn, sarai demolita, la spada ti inseguirà.	2 Moab's glory is no more. Evil they plan against Heshbon: "Come, let us put an end to her as a people." You, too, Madmen, shall be reduced to silence; behind you stalks the sword.
3 Una voce, un grido da Coronàim: Devastazione e rovina grande!	3 Listen! a cry from Horonaim of ruin and great destruction!
4 Abbattuto è Moab, le grida si fanno sentire fino in Zoar.	4 Moab is crushed, their outcry is heard in Zoar.
5 Su per la salita di Luchìt vanno piangendo, giù per la discesa di Coronàim si ode un grido di disfatta.	5 The ascent of Luhith they climb weeping; On the descent to Horonaim the cry of destruction is heard.
6 Fuggite, salvate la vostra vita! Siate come l'asino selvatico nel deserto.	6 "Flee, save your lives, to survive like the wild ass in the desert!"
7 Poiché hai posto la fiducia nelle tue fortezze e nei tuoi tesori, anche tu sarai preso e Camos andrà in esilio insieme con i suoi sacerdoti e con i suoi capi.	7 Because you trusted in your works and your treasures, you also shall be captured. Chemosh shall go into exile, his priests and princes with him.

10 Maledetto chi compie fiaccamente l'opera del Signore, maledetto chi trattiene la spada dal sangue!	10 (Cursed be he who does the LORD'S work remissly, cursed he who holds back his sword from blood.)
11 Moab era tranquillo fin dalla giovinezza, riposava come vino sulla sua feccia, non è stato travasato di botte in botte, né è mai andato in esilio; per questo gli è rimasto il suo sapore,il suo profumo non si è alterato.	11 Moab has been tranquil from his youth, has rested upon his lees; He was not poured from one flask to another, he went not into exile. 28 Abbandonate le città e abitate nelle rupi, abitanti di Moab, siate come la colomba che fa il nido nelle pareti d'una gola profonda.	28 Leave the cities, dwell in the crags, you that dwell in Moab. Be like a dove that nests out of reach on the edge of a chasm.

33 Sono scomparse la gioia e l'allegria dai frutteti e dalla regione di Moab. È sparito il vino nei tini, non pigia più il pigiatore, il canto di gioia non è più canto di gioia.	33 Joy and jubilation are at an end in the fruit gardens of the land of Moab. I drain the wine from the wine vats, the treader treads no more, the vintage shout is stilled.

35 Io farò scomparire in Moab - dice il Signore - chi sale sulle alture e chi brucia incenso ai suoi dèi.	35 I will leave no one in Moab, says the LORD, to offer a holocaust on the high place, or to burn incense to his gods.

39 Come è rovinato! Gridate! Come Moab ha voltato vergognosamente le spalle! Moab è diventato oggetto di scherno e di orrore per tutti i suoi vicini.	39 How terror seizes Moab, and wailing! How he turns his back in shame! Moab has become a laughingstock and a horror to all his neighbors!
40 Poiché così dice il Signore: Ecco, come l'aquila egli spicca il volo e spande le ali su Moab.	40 For thus says the LORD: Behold, like an eagle he soars, spreads his wings over Moab.
41 Le città son prese, le fortezze sono occupate. In quel giorno il cuore dei prodi di Moab sarà come il cuore di donna nei dolori del parto.	41 Cities are taken, strongholds seized: On that day the hearts of Moab's heroes are like the heart of a woman in travail.

43 Terrore, trabocchetto, tranello cadranno su di te, abitante di Moab. Oracolo del Signore.	43 Terror, pit, and trap be upon you, people of Moab, says the LORD.
44 Chi sfugge al terrore cadrà nel trabocchetto; chi risale dal trabocchetto sarà preso nel tranello, perché io manderò sui Moabiti tutto questo nell'anno del loro castigo. 45 All'ombra di Chesbòn si fermano spossati i fuggiaschi, ma un fuoco esce da Chesbòn,una fiamma dal palazzo di Sicòn e divora le tempie di Moab e il cranio di uomini turbolenti.	45 In Heshbon's shadow stop short the exhausted refugees; For fire breaks forth from Heshbon, and a blaze from the house of Sihon: It consumes the brow of Moab, the skull of the noisemakers.
46 Guai a te, Moab, sei perduto, popolo di Camos, poiché i tuoi figli sono condotti schiavi, le tue figlie portate in esilio.	46 Woe to you, O Moab, you are ruined, O people of Chemosh! Your sons are taken into exile, your daughters into captivity.
