| 1 Oracolo. Parola di Jahve su Israele; oracolo di Jahve, che stese i cieli e fondò la terra e formò lo spirito dell’uomo entro di lui. | 1 The burden of the word of the Lord upon Israel. The Lord, stretching forth the heavens and founding the earth and forming the spirit of man within him, says: |
| 2 Ecco io faccio di Gerusalemme una coppa che mette le vertigini a tutti i popoli all’intorno. E anche contro Giuda; sarà in angustia contro Gerusalemme. | 2 Behold, I will set Jerusalem as a lintel of the effects of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, yet even Judah will be in the blockade against Jerusalem. |
| 3 E avverrà: in quel giorno farò di Gerusalemme una pietra da carico per tutti i popoli. Coloro che se la caricheranno, dovranno restare seriamente scalfiti. Ora contro di lei faranno lega tutte le genti della terra. | 3 And this shall be: In that day, I will set Jerusalem as a burdensome stone to every people. All who will lift it up will be torn to pieces. And all the kingdoms of the earth will be gathered together against her. |
| 4 In quel giorno — oracolo di Jahve — colpirò di sbigottimento ogni cavallo e il sto cavaliere di frenesia; mentre sulla casa di Giuda terrò aperti i miei occhi, colpirò di cecità i cavalli dei popoli. | 4 In that day, says the Lord, I will strike every horse with stupor and his rider with madness. And I will open my eyes upon the house of Judah, and I will strike every horse of the people with blindness. |

| 6 In quel giorno Érò dei capi di Giuda come un braciere di fuoco tra fasci di legno e come una fiaccola accesa tra covoni: divoreranno a destra e a sinistra tutti i popoli all’intorno; Gerusalemme invece continuerà a restare sicura al suo posto. | 6 In that day, I will set the governors of Judah like a flaming furnace among wood, and like a flaming torch among hay. And they will devour, to the right and to the left, all the surrounding peoples. And Jerusalem will be inhabited again, in her own place, in Jerusalem. |
| 7 Jahve soccorrerà prima le tende di Giuda, affinchè la gloria della casa di David e la gloria degli abitanti di Gerusalemme non sia più grande di quella di Giuda. | 7 And the Lord will save the tabernacles of Judah, just as in the beginning, so that the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not glorify themselves boastfully against Judah. |
| 8 In quel giorno Jahve proteggerà gli abitanti di Gerusalemme: chi tra di loro sarà vacillante sarà come David, e la casa di David come Dio: come l’angelo di Jahve davanti a loro. | 8 In that day, the Lord will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and even he who will have offended from them, in that day, will be like David, and the house of David will be like that of God, just like an angel of the Lord in their sight. |
| 9 Ora avverrà: in quel giorno cercherò di distruggere tutte le genti, che saranno avanzate contro Gerusalemme. | 9 And this shall be in that day: I will seek to crush all the Gentiles that come against Jerusalem. |
| 10 Sulla casa di David e sugli abitanti di Gerusalemme verserò uno spirito di pietà e di implorazione; guarderanno a colui che avranno trafitto e faranno il lamento per lui come nel lamento per un figlio unico, faranno amaro cordoglio per lui come nel cordoglio per un primogenito. | 10 And I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of prayers.
